  1. Indirectly I believe we all do.
  2. Dang it! Thought we might have signed someone as I can't get the OS to work. Obviously some techy error instead
  3. But it does happen to be the most recent example. Look don't get me wrong I'm not saying because they did well with this policy we will too. But you have to admit its a relevant point. People getting worked up about it is just plain stupid. Like you said we don't know how we are going to do. Unfortunately we do have more than our fare share of knee jerk merchants on here who never seem happy. Sorry to use Swansea as an example again but they got beaten 4-0 by City first match of last season but they didn't do too badly in the end. I hope our fans don't get all doom and gloom should we be on the wrong end of a similar result on Sunday. I'm probably hoping for too much given the response our 4-0 defeat in our last pre-season friendly engendered.
  4. Why? The issue we are discussing is who they brought in before their first seasons in the prem and how they subsequently fared. Who cares how they do this season (although worse than us would be nice), it's irrelevant to the points being made. I'm sure most on here don't care about next season, let's get this one out of the way first. There are another two transfer windows before next season, alot could change in that time.
  5. Played the final ball for first two I see. Notice blast from the past Sparv got Finland's second against N Ire and Davis got a full 90mins I believe.
  6. They also have us down to finish bottom I see. (Nothing to read into this just an observation)
  7. Insert a bit more reason in your criticisms and you'd get less negative reaction.
  8. When viewed small on my iPhone your avatar looks like the demon headmaster.
  9. No that just shows we've been unsuccessful in our bids or negotiations are ongoing. There are a lot more people involved in transfer negotiations than just Saints FC employees.
  10. The difference is that you are using your belief that things should have been sorted earlier and that Dann is not your cup of tea, to infer that there is a malaise within the club or that someone is doing their job incorrectly. Those of us of a more reasonable disposition are speculating that there may be more to it than that. I know what is the more likely scenario. Being negative just because you're not getting the signings you want when you want them is just childish. I'm not a huge fan of the idea of Dann being our back four's saviour but I don't put that down to the people working on it being idiots. Everyone has an opinion, I dare say our scouts have watched him a damn sight more than either you or I. You're welcome to your own opinion of course, it's just I like mine to be a bit more considered and less reactionary.
  11. That's all just pure conjecture, not to mention a rather simplistic view of what could be going on with this possible transfer.
  12. Not really, if the rumours are to be believed we have been interested for some time. Whether you or I believe he's the right man for the job is neither here nor there.
  13. Well I for one hope, that those down the road can find some way to still exist. I believe they deserve the punishments they've been dished out and tbh some were long overdue, but whatever some of the more hard nosed on here say, I think Saints will be slightly diminished if we lose our arch enemies completely.
  14. Correction, you and many other people on here are getting desperate. Yup we're leaving it later than I'd like getting the right new faces in. But the thing is we probably set our stall out for specific targets, if these didn't want to come or clubs didn't want to sell, is it our fault? I really can't believe that the relevant people at the club have been sat on their arses for the last month or so. We may end up having to bring in players that were lower down our list than we would have liked but I'm not one of those who thinks we'd have been better off setting our sights lower in the first place.
  15. This really is like fricken Groundhog day. Do we really play with out and out wingers? I don't get to watch us often but always thought we played more fluidly than that. I don't mind us signing a winger but only if he's capable of fitting in with that way of playing. This is why Lallana and Guly (yes Guly) are so important to how we play as they are intelligent enough to cut in and swap positions with RL when he drops deep or pulls out wide to link up play. I think Rodriguez was seen as another player who is flexible and intelligent enough to do this. I think Chung has already proved he's more than just a striker and that's why he fits this way of playing. Can't wait to see him back to full fitness and find out whether he can cut it in the prem.
  16. Really, I'd never have noticed.
  17. At one time I agreed. I've always felt he lacked an end product, much the same as Moses in many respects. I know a lot of Palace fans though and all of the ones I've talked to rate Zaha as a better prospect. I thought Moses improved a lot in the last half of last season. Looks like Chelsea did too. On balance taking into account the opinions of those who've watched them both much more than me I think Zaha would be worth a punt.
  18. I think you're both right and wrong on this. On the one hand I think he should be given a chance, I've always thought he had potential (got nothing against strengthening in his position as well tho). However, I don't believe that he's prem quality without a doubt. I saw him play a few times for Blackpool and thought he was distinctly poor each time. While we're in the prem I imagine we'll be safe from his tantrums as he's where he wants to be and hopefully he'll step up to the plate. There will always be niggling doubts about his commitment though.
  19. I'm sorry but compared with usual over the summer transfer window I'd say there is. But then it's pretty obvious we beg to differ so I'll leave you to your worrying while I continue enjoying the Olympics.
  20. Aggressive? Hordes of people? I know it's hard sometimes to read tone of voice into these posts but really? I just find it incredible that a simple post with a simple point can be used as a point of argument. Some of you guys go to such lengths to make sure we all know you are right (yet again I am not picking on you, merely responding to your post). My point is, for the final time, that there has been little of note in the way of rumours, on the web, TV, or newspapers, with regards to any club let alone our own. When The Sun, The Mail and all those other ropey newspapers are scrabbling around for the grand total of eff all you know that things are quiet.
  21. Did I say it wasn't a concern? The implication by some is that we're doing diddly. Or that a lack of rumours indicates we're doing diddly. My point is that this may not be the case and is actually indicative of a wider lack of rumour. Simple really, obviously not simple enough for some.
  22. Quite a bit? Care to quantify that? To be quite frank the only ones I remember us being linked with reliably at an early stage were Clyne and Rodriguez. Both of these players we were rumoured to be interested in back in January. The early Gazzaniga rumours were purely someone on here hearing an interview with a manager about how great he was and asking if HCDAJFU. Let's face it, most of those we hear about early are generally those where the selling club or agent (or father) is trying to bump the price up. Many of these deals seem to end up dead in the water. My point is that irrespective of what deals have been done, rumours across the board have been quiet. This is probably due to having two major(ish) tournaments over the summer and journalists working on the Olympics. It doesn't mean we haven't enquired, made bids or are not in talks with anyone. If you believe everyone's putting a suntan over club interests you are a pillock (not specifically aimed at you). Much like last year, if we fail to make further signings it will not be because we haven't tried but because we cannot acquire our targets.
  23. Not sure how much Hughes had to do with the youth team at Blackburn but surely there's a chance they know each other from there. That sort of things can sway a transfer as we know. Some valid points being made but what makes me annoyed is how people on here take it for granted we've not been interested in players just because they went elsewhere. Most transfers aren't simple and we aren't going to be everyone's number one choice. If any of you seriously think that things aren't being attempted in the background just because it's quiet you're an idiot. As others have said, it's bloody quiet everywhere on the rumours/signing front. Check out this from last weeks Rumour Mill if you don't believe me http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/aug/01/football-transfer-rumours-higuain-manchester-city
  24. You're not completely right. How about how little we know about the potential Olssen transfer?
  25. Must have been mate, 'cause I've watched all but one or two last season and I can't remember him saying a bad word against us. Even when we played badly he'd often refer to how well we'd played in previous matches. He was the same each time I heard him on 5live too. I too wanted to dislike him but thought in the end he was a decent pundit who didn't let his past colour his judgement. Anyway, yet another thread that's veered wildly off topic due to a lack of anything concrete I see.
