  1. Who knows, just a point. I guess we'll find out sooner rather than later if this is a go'er or not.
  2. Or maybe with his Liverpool connections he knows something we don't.
  3. Try this http://www.footytube.com/video/manchester-city-southampton-aug19-126238?ref=lchan_vidgrid
  4. Good points here I feel. I think we started very confidently but the break for Aguero's injury seemed to take the wind out of our sales. I also think that Lambert's importance to our all round play is sometimes overlooked. While Guly did great we missed Lambert's ability to bring others into play and link midfield with attack. I also think Lallana was too deep to effect play where he does so best. Still it's a learning process for the players and Adkins and I believe we'll get it right sooner rather than later. The overall performance should give us the confidence to believe we can mix it with anyone now. Adkins' post match reaction shows he was immensely proud of the team but equally upset at not taking something from the game and that attitude of wanting something from every game will stand us in good stead over the season. Looking back at the match I am unwilling to be too hard on anyone. As I've said before I felt Kelvin wasnt too assured and Fox obviously made mistakes but I think that can be put down to a general lack of support and being out on his feet due to being double teamed for much of the match. The biggest concern for me is still the balance in midfield. I thought Morgan looked well off the pace at times and considering many call him our defensive mid, he spent a decent amount of time on the edge of the opposition box. For me he ain't a defensive mid, he's more of a deep lying playmaker, our Carrick if you like. I think he needs a Frimpong type player to do the dirty work. Watch the passage of play from the second half where Punch had the chance and then Balotelli missed a sitter. Morgan is turned inside out on the edge of their box by Toure, once beaten there were no midfielders between him and our defence. Any defence is gonna look shaky in that position but on the whole the centre backs were great yesterday. No worse than some of those at much bigger clubs.
  5. Gotta say, I also think Kelv deserves a chance after his loyalty and displays over the past three seasons. However I do feel he was a bit shaky at times. And I think any keeper that didn't save that pen would have been rightly embarrassed!
  6. Because while he was far from perfect, Punch gave him alot more cover.
  7. I love Adkins but not so sure, Lambo should have started, Lallana left and Guly in 10 role.
  8. Nah, he was also involved in the build up.
  9. TBH I think he's great there. Really proud, pity it was a individual mistake that led to the winner. Lambo made such a difference when he came on. He may not be the most mobile but our build up play relies on him so much. Couple of brilliant goals, and I have a strange feeling of disappointment when I'd have taken that score line before kick off. Most disappointed with Morgan, thought the game passed him by at times and caught too high up the pitch a couple of times and too slow to make amends.
  10. Danny effin Fox, what are you doing?
  11. High hopes for Morgan but he's been poor TBH.
  12. TBH get a few more corners with Lambert on the pitch and we might sneak one, Fox's delivery is brilliant.
  13. He has absolutely no cover. Don't think he's done too bad tbh.
  14. Not bad but got very ragged late on. Actually think the Aguero break broke our stride a bit. Think Adam's playing too deep to effect the game in the final third and Morgan has looked a bit off the pace at times. Too much space down our left for them to exploit. Puncheon's touch is appalling too. I'd be tempted to have Ward-Prowse and Morgan sit deep, sometimes they've been caught upfield. Move Lallana left, Lambo on for J Rod and move Guly into the 10 position. 4-2-3-1
  15. Super kelv near post nightmare. Again.
  16. Read the preview on the BBC website. They reckon our fans are glass half full types, can't come on here often.
  17. Like it could have been much different! FFS, I hope this place isn't indicative of the way our support is as a whole. This is probably our toughest game of the season, it would have always been a big ask to get anything from this whenever it happened. At least we are getting it out of the way early. This is reality, get used to it. Or would you rather we were still in the Championship?
  18. I think many of the posters on here have a rather simplistic view on how transfers work. I also think you're being rather harsh on Adkins. Last season or the one before, I seem to remember him saying something along the lines of 'goals win you games, clean sheets win you championships'. He has also been quoted as saying several times this summer that we are looking at bringing in two centre backs. Now I am well aware that we need to strengthen in this area and that we're yet to do so, but do you think that Adkins is lying to keep the fans off his back? Or maybe he suffers from Alzheimer's and has simply forgot? Then again, maybe he got so excited at the thought of signing Ramirez that it just kind of slipped his mind? I'd imagine the issue is more along the lines of Saints having trouble signing the CB's they want. Not ideal but hardly unlikely. But then again maybe I'm wrong, transfers just seem to always go without a hitch don't they? Oh by the way what's happening with Ramirez, he not signed yet?
  19. Seems very similar to me as I've said but not sure it's an indictment of how we do transfers. That seems to be reading a bit much into the situation. Anyway, keep it down, you'll set DPS off again.
  20. No worries, just feel it's a bit previous deciding the signing's finalised because the press say so. Might have said earlier but this thread has been going so long I'm not sure. The Guardian had an article claiming we'd signed Buttner which obviously we hadn't, then a day later we signed Davis and there was no article at all! Having said that I enjoy reading the rumours, hence lurking on here all day!
  21. I was referring to it being reported by the press as a done deal, when it currently isn't.
  22. Bit like Buttner then really?
  23. Maybe he knows something else we don't, like we're not just signing the Uruguayan Kaka but also the real McCoy as well.
  24. I know what you are getting at but still a lot of similarities with Buttner. The 'Saints are the club I want to go to, they have a great vision and loads of money to invest' type quotes to the press before anything has been finalised. Let's remember that as far as one or two papers were concerned we signed Buttner ages ago so not the best sign of things being done and dusted. When you compare it to the Clyne transfer, we knew before it was on the OS not because the papers said so (although some did) but because he tweeted it and said goodbye to the Palace fans. Really don't like players talking to journalists like this before things are finalised. Really excited though, cummon NC get this one signed up ASAP.
  25. not so sure myself. I'm as excited as the next man but we've been here before this summer, smacks a little of Buttner to me.
