This is the issue for me. OK some on here have made reasonable arguments as to why we might have taken out this loan. Surely though if everything is a rosy as as NC has stated in the past and we do have the 5th richest owner in Christendom (or whatever), why are we bothering with loans of any type?

I think I'm less ****ed that he seemed to start with the wrong team/formation and more that he seemed resigned to the result, waiting far too long to make the substitutions.

I often find myself agreeing with you but I think in this case the formation added to our problems. Those on the match thread crying that JWP isn't ready for prem footy obviously haven't seen the other matches this season. However expecting him and Davis to control the midfield with Fellaini in there was bloody stupid. No matter what you think about his quality or lack of it, putting Chaplow in there with them would have added energy and bite, someone to ruffle feathers and not give their mids a moments peace. That would also have allowed us to set up more similarly to how we've been playing this season. As I also said on the match day thread, I'd rather have had a hungry youngster or even SDR on the bench than someone who wasn't fit enough to feature. I love Adkins and am willing to give him time but there's no denying that some of his decisions have contributed to some of our early season problems.

Not sure Chaplow coming on is random, just overdue. Whatever you think about his quality, or lack of it I'd have rather had him as an extra body in the middle that JRod doing bugger all up top.

TBH way overdue. I'd rather lose four or five attempting to get back in te game than three not even trying. How often have you seen a team who haven't been in a match get a goal 10-20 mins from time and the whole match changes? Looks like damage limitation. I'd rather go down fighting and show some balls.

Exactly. There's bound to be loss of form and injury over the course of the season. No matter how well the forward unit and midfield played at times this weekend, I can't wait to have Cork and Chung back to full match fitness. I think Chung will turn out class at this level.

Pity it's not worked out as I think that Martin's got something about him and loaning at the moment is a top priority in his development. I always thought he was particularly strong was in the air but the Palace fans I've spoken to reckon that's one area in which he particularly stank.
