  1. D- Must try harder.
  2. I notice this deal that had just been completed before 5pm has yet to be officially announced. Whatever next?
  3. That'll please Barry Sanchez!
  4. Christ, we're just I to our fourth day of the transfer window and I'm bored already. Can someone just text me when we've bought someone?
  5. Apparently Bamble training with them as well. Go on Sam, sign him up!
  6. Don't you know you're not supposed to even buy the new shirt?
  7. The player that I used to love to watch in my formative years was believe it or not Danny Wallace. Absolutely loved him to bits. Overall has to be Le Tiss though with an honourable mention to Rickie Lambert.
  8. What we need is Mark Lawrenson to say there's no way we'll sign him.
  9. Unless I missed something I think you'll find Turks is only referring to what was said by someone else earlier in the thread. Anyway, back to registered user for a bit so better save my last one.
  10. As expected, no new player signing to show off the new kit.
  11. Sounds like the first match then. Bypass the midfield, hit the channels early and hope for the best. I seem to remember watching a Nike Academy video a few years ago where Huw Jennings was talking about how important transition of play from back to front was. Unfortunately I think too many academy systems must have been focussing on this kind of thing, sod breeding intelligent players who can pass the ball and be composed in possession.
  12. Shouldn't you have PM'd everyone first?
  13. Wow, nice one Turks! I'd like to think there's no hint of sarcasm in there anywhere.
  14. I may not have spelled it out (getting across your thoughts ain't easy while trying to get three kids ready for school) but I agree. However, I would say that constant success does mean that a greater proportion probably do.
  15. We and them is way too much of a generalisation. As is believeing all Saints fans are the same or all Arsenal fans etc etc. I for one never took success in League One as a given, too many years of things going wrong or almost going wrong.
  16. I don't necessarily think that's what he's saying. Pretty easy to get all sniffy about other posts without offering anything interesting or constructive yourself. I do think many fans of successful clubs take that success for granted. I know that now money has on the whole ensured that successful clubs, if run well, stay that way, but I think you only have to look at Liverpool and more recently Arsenal to see that clubs don't have a divine right to win trophies. Granted, nothing seriously bad has happened to these clubs, but by their own high standards thy have underachieved. I remember coming back from the FA Cup final in 2003, virtually every Arsenal fan I met seemed to be ****ed off at the fact they hadn't won by more. They were all saying how disappointing it had been and they'd been there before, it was nothing special. It was boring for them. I remember at the time thinking 'if you feel that way, why buy a ticket?'. There must have been plenty of Arsenal fans that would have loved to have been there. I wonder if looking back, any of those fans regret not embracing that occasion. It was only two years later that they won their last trophy and began their much publicised trophy drought.
  17. 40 - Born and bred in Basingstoke (ain't I a lucky chap?). First match was I think Saints v Millwall in The Milk Cup at The Dell in 1985. Can't remember much about it to be honest, apart from the post match stampede! Spent three years in our arch rivals back yard while studying for my Media and Design degree at the University of Portsmouth. I can still remember the noise when the locals I'd become friends with found out who I supported while down the pub one evening. Luckily I survived that plus numerous run-ins with the 6.57 Crew, who just loved my grunge inspired long hair. Now living in London with the missus and my three nippers, all of whom are Saints fans.
  18. I don't think I've been sent an ITK PM since the heights of the Paul Allen rumour and all the StDavid (was that his name?) shenanigans. TBH I can't work out if Crabby's on the wind up like Glasgow!
  19. Indeed. JWP was neat and tidy on the whole but never really saw enough of the ball. As Saint Charlie said little in the way of creativity from England.
  20. 2-2. Last minute equaliser. That's what happens when you can't take care of the ball and keep possession.
  21. You do realise Ramirez started the match against Spain? Not sure if Forlan was injured or banned but the commentators were indicating that Uruguay wanted play to go through him. Would indicate they place a decent amount of trust in him.
  22. Great counter attack for the second. Unfortunately that seems to be the way we focus our football in the academies. It's great when we don't have the ball but when we're in control it seems to mean too many long balls and losing possession easily.
  23. Defence too often bypassing midfield. He's showing for it but long balls down the channels seems to be the order of the day.
  24. Taters building it up but not enough possession play for my liking. To much trying to hit long balls to the front man early.
