All set up for Bialkowski penalty shoot out heroics?
-
Apparently we are also being out-possessed.
-
Now where have I read that before?
-
Also considering he's a price pikey, leather's probably not something he'd stretch to.

From what I've seen on TMS Bearsy will need some with a larger waist.

A paper polo shirt? That really is the cutting edge of fashion.

Would be nice to get another couple and bring on one or two of the kids.

Post Match Reaction & MotM: SAINTS 1-1 Sunderland
mulletsaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I think quite a few of his short range passes weren't exactly to feet or tended to be bobbly. A small thing but it holds play up and puts the recipient of the pass under more pressure than it should. Anyway, it would seem from the stats he did better than I thought. -
Yup, very close but undoubtedly offside given the replays on Sky.

Don't think he was any poorer than Lambert overall or Lallana in the first half. Out of all the front 3/4, he is the only one that carries out Pochettino's game plan of pressing high up the pitch with any consistency. Lambert had more chances but that's because he plays further forward. Pity his goal was marginally offside as it was a cracking finish and would have helped his confidence. Should have done better with his second half header.

Oh and those blaming Chambers for for the goal can't have seen it right. JRod was the closest to Giacharinni before the corner was taken and Lambert was stood where he ended up. Lambert got drawn in by the other runs and moved towards the front post. JRod tried to pass him on to someone else and stayed where he was. -

Just watched the match on Sky so here's my take on it. Thought we were pretty sloppy on the whole, both defensively and in possession. Some of our passing was really poor. I thought Lambert looked like he was trying to prove a point and as a result was just trying too hard and overdoing things. Thought JRod was guilty of similar. Lovren looked class but to be honest he didn't have much to do. Thought Fonte and JWP did well also, especially the latter who was my MOM. Wanyama was solid but gives the ball away too much. I do think we have lost some of our urgency with him replacing Cork. Hopefully this will improve as he settles more. I know some want to drop Rodriguez, but it is really only him out of all the front 3/4 that pressure the ball high up so I'm not sure he'll be the one to make way. I thought that Osvaldo showed some nice touches but was lucky not to be shown the red card. He obviously doesn't deal well with frustration. A few times Rickie and JRod were guilty of ignoring him when he'd taken up good positions, only for them to lose possession or take a specualtive pot shot. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come, as I think they all have a big part to play over the course of the season. -

Game of the day on Sky. Sorry, bit late there. -
This ref is determined not to give us a chuffin thing.

Personally I think Gary Neville prefers Lambert at this time and will be in Roy's ear. Anyone see MNF? Neville was very complimentary and even mentioned him when he was talking about other teams. If he can score a goal or two in the next couple of Prem matches before then and his general performance level is high I'd expect him to get in.

You can have a decent point without having a good grasp of the English language. -
Puncheon to Palace - Official (Season Loan)
mulletsaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Puncheon, ain't Navas. It also appears he wanted to go for personal/family reasons. Looks like we may have one/two alternatives in mind. He wasn't a starter and maybe this gives Isgrove a chance to make a few sub appearances instead. Several reasons why this isn't something to throw a wobbler about. My point was more to do with people getting their knickers in a twist about nowt not about how we play. I'm not a Puncheon hater and think he did well for the most part last season but quite why some are getting overexcited about this is beyond me. Anyway, I have a soft spot for Palace as I know a few fans and they are a local team. I wish him and them well (apart from a certain two fixtures). -

Osvaldo for Italy, Roma and Pochettino's Espanyol - Tactics
mulletsaint replied to The9's topic in The Saints
This is kind of my take on things. While undoubtedly each player has a defensive remit based on their starting position, going forward we tend to be much more flexible. I'd image Rickie will start up top but will regularly drop deep and/or pull out wide to make space for Osvaldo and others to exploit. While the wide forwards are expected to support their fullbacks defensively, they're not expected to supply the majority of our width, that comes from Clyne and Shaw. I'd imagine the reason some believe we looked toothless on the right last Saturday, was more down to Chambers playing safety first than JWP not hugging the touchline. -
"Gimme Shelter" - any chance for the next few games?
mulletsaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I think the length of this one, whatever version, means it won't happen. Would be great though. I'd suggest mixing both versions like this: Playing up front for Southampton Not in Italy, Holland or France The man in the goal said I didn't see that You know he didn't give me a chance Christ he makes it look easy You know how good he can be The way things are going Osvaldo's gonna score three. Bears the closest resemblance to the original too. -

I've not been to many stadiums but if the St. Mary's bogs are **** I'd love to see some good ones. The last away ground i went to was Selhurst Park, now those are really bad. -
Arsenal must pay Saints £10k every time AOC plays 20 minutes
mulletsaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Not sure if it's been said, but if I was AOC I'd be a tad miffed at Arsene's apparent penny pinching costing me time on the pitch.
