Very nice to hear such nice things from good pundits. However, Neville didn't say we were a decent striker away from being Bayern. He said add our level of defending and pressing along with someone like Schneiderlin in midfield, to a team like United or City and you'd have Bayern. Essentially, Man U need to sign Lovren, Clyne, Shaw, Schneiderlin and get MP in as coach and they might win the Champions league.

I'm not saying Lallana deserves to be in the squad less than Welbeck, Cleverly or Sterling. However, the first two have played for England numerous times and have done well. In that case the manager will always plump for the players that have experience for important matches like the ones just gone. I agree Lallana should get the nod for the next couple of friendlies. There are plenty of players he should be in there in front of, Young for one. United may be having troubleand Cleverly may not be in the side but, if it wasn't for JWP coming through with such promise, I'd be happy to have Cleverly here. He can see a decisive attacking pass and would suit our style perfectly.

I agree that players often get in because of the teams they represent and not because of form. I also agree that on form many of those players should not be in the England squad. However I don't really agree on them all being poor players. Sturridge is the form English forward in the league so far this season. He undoubtedly has skill but comes across as a bit of a knob. Granted in the last England game he came across as a Jermain Defoe type but at Liverpool I think he's looked anything but greedy. Personally I like Welbeck. Great team player, decent skill, who's touch occasionally let's him down. Not uncommon in an English player now is it? Doesn't score enough, but I'd say that's at least in part down to how he's asked to play. Cleverly's a decent player, similar to JWP in that he's all about retaining possession. Milner's not my favourite player but his versatility is in his favour as is that of the two defenders you mention. England are in transition where centre backs are concerned so I can see why they get in the squad. I'm all for bigging up our players when they deserve it, but I can't be arsed with all this anti-big club players mentality just for the sake of it. The players you mention may not be world class, but then again none of ours mentioned are either.

Keep this up and you'll definitely cement your place as a top five poster.

Can't be bothered reading through this due to the inevitable numpty comments I'd have to trawl through. I didn't see the game today but from what was said on 5 live and what I've seen before, I think he may be trying too hard. I think Rickie's been doing the same. Unfortunately the astronomical sums footballers earn these days means that many fans have no sympathy if a player doesn't hit the ground running from the word go. Unfortunately it's rarely that simple. The way I look at it, his past record and MP's faith in him, make it more likely than not that he'll be a success. Not guaranteed I know but worth having a little patience to find out. One thing's for sure, if the fans get on his back he'll be off. Anyway, if we're in this position without our forwards hitting any form, I look forward to the day it all begins to click.

Don't quite agree. Pressing well and there have been a couple of decent moments but some of the passing has been shocking. Think this could be a good game for Lambert. Would link up play well and give us a target in the box. Would also give us the option of hitting those diagonals to the back post for knock downs.

I always have to be a bit careful quoting you Turks, because it can be rather difficult to work out the few times you're not on the wind up. Gotta say I agree with this 100% though. Unfortunately for Fox, yesterday he had to come into the side, just in time to play against one of the quickest right sided attackers in the league. When you couple that with the fact that he's not a regular starter and he was always likely to be on a hiding to nothing. Pity he got so much stick. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that it was a small minority, as it was picked up on the 5 live microphones and was even mentioned by Pulis.
