  1. My Favourite player when I was a nipper, hence the Panini sticker Avatar. Happy birthday Danny.
  2. Glad I hadn't posted yet as barring the first para you've said pretty much all I wanted to. Cheers!
  3. Surely Glasgow would have been the first to know Bearsy? You know, being all ITK and all that? Maybe he just forgot to PM you.
  4. I saw the tackle while having late lunch in a local pub. To those people who are judging whether or not Brown got a touch or not from a tiny GIF, I'd say wait until you see it properly. He definitely gets a touch before Gaston, albeit a very small one. Personally I feel that the angle and reckless nature of the tackle make it a foul in this day and age.
  5. FFS. first bit of the game I get to watch and it's that!
  6. Personally I think he's saying that as they're such a big club they need instant results. As such they can't rely on their academy players making the step up and have to send them out on loan. He's trying to show how much more pressure he's under there. Unfortunately he just comes across as a ****.
  7. Great news. Here's hoping it's not just a stay of execution until the summer.
  8. An I the only one getting de ja vu?
  9. Look at me! This couldn't have been posted in the 'Not that bothered thread' or one of the others on the subject of Cortese leaving. Are you Glasgow in disguise?
  10. I live in London and just got back from the school run. No one mentioned this, not even the kids.
  11. We'll know what's fact and what isn't come the summer, not based on the statements of group of forum members. The next couple of weeks will tell us a lot but I feel it's then that things could really change.
  12. I doubt they would be flooding out the door before the end of January, but I'd imagine the summer would be pretty interesting. If MP left and the new chairman didn't appeal I'd imagine there'll be a large amount of agent shenanigans kicking off.
  13. Lol
  14. Of course not but he's doing a better job than half of the idiots running professional football clubs these days. So, you have to wonder what great chairman you have up your sleeve to replace him? After years of mismanagement, embezzlement, brinksmanship and clueless do gooders, we've been lucky to have someone as single minded as Cortese. Yup he's not without his faults, but so far the positives have far outweighed the negatives.
  15. Nope not at all, just saying it as it is. MP and players such as Lovren and Schneiderlin have been interviewed giving their reasons for being here. We're not a huge club so we need other reasons for attracting good players and staff and keeping them here. Cortese is a huge part of it. Obviously the Liebherr's money has been as well, although I imagine most of that is down to Marcus. I know that players have a habit of changing tune when a new manager turns up, but I do think we're in a unique position amongst the clubs below the true Premier League elite.
  16. Whatever you think of Cortese, him leaving has to be bad news. MP has already said if Cortese leaves he leaves and a player exodus will probably follow as many are here because of the plan and what Cortese has built here over the last few seasons. I'd say we'd definitely lose: Wanyama, Lovren, Shaw, Clyne, Osvaldo, Ramirez and Schneiderlin. On top of that I wouldn't be surprised if Boruc and Rodriguez and even Lallana and Lambert followed suit. Those that the club refused to sell wouldn't be happy causing even more destabilization. Anyone who is happy at the possibility of this because they might get their stripes back is barking mad. Remember what it was like supporting an unstable club?
  17. Possibly, but these things do happen. I had an Evertonian mate who told me about the Rooney to Man U deal ages before it ever got in the press, apparently they'd arranged something similar. You may be right tho. On your last point, I wasn't indicating we couldn't buy him for any other reason that another team may have already pipped us to it so no need to get snippy.
  18. Whichever way you're intending that it's unlikely we'll buy him as apparently Liverpool have an agreement with Derby for first dibs.
  19. £30 million is a lot for an 18 year old full back but I'd like to see him stay another season or two to be honest. I'm not sure that Cortese is too fussed about bringing in many more players seeing as he wants to focus on bringing in academy prospects. He's strengthened through the spine and while most of us would like at another, CB, FB, creative midfielder and possibly GK, I'm not sure how many of those positions we're truly trying to strengthen.
  20. Doubt it, but playing a team who could barely be arsed to mount an attack until they went behind probably helped.
  21. Glasgow has an awful lot of time on his hands.
  22. Not another Glasgow alt. Or is it Barry? Or both?
  23. Oh me of little faith. Good result and great goal by Osvaldo. Pity he couldn't stick one of the other's away. Just think what we might have done at full strength.
  24. I'd say nice try but it's not, it's just lazy.
  25. Been in hiding since the Villa game not wanting to know the extent of all the injuries. Finally checked the BBC tonight and it just ain't pretty. Can't believe we have this many bad knocks all at the same time. God knows how long Wanyama will be out with a hairline fracture. Even with City's recent form I was hopeful of an upset, partially due to their flaky away form, but with no Wanyama, Schneiderlin, Clyne or Boruc and Fonte doubtful? I fear a big loss TBH.
