I think you'll find he's being considered for both. Like Stones he can play both positions, as can Smalling and Jones, the main reason the latter two have been included in squads before I'd say. Players that can cover a number of positions will always find a place in an international squad if they're half decent. On the subject of right back injuries, I thought Walker was second choice and he's been out for ages. Given that and Johnson's poor form, I'd say Clyne deserved a go. His positioning at times may be a bit suspect but I'd say he's still an improvement on Walker and Johnson. What I do agree with is that CB has been England's biggest issue for a while now. Anyone that's watched Chambers' performances in this position for Arsenal this season would say he's worth a punt. Sure he's made a couple of bad decisions but on the whole his performances have been great. He seems to be a decisive centre back, which will always lead to the odd decision going wrong but what I like is he doesn't give forwards an easy game. I also like the fact that despite the fact he's by far the least experienced in Arsenal's back line, he's continually looking around to make sure his positioning is correct and barking orders at the others as to where they should be.

Funny, I thought it was intentional based on the fact that a) he looks the way the pass goes first and b) the pass with the left comes with too big a pause before the fake cross with the left for it to be a mistake.

TBH half the people on here are just looking for a wind up oppo. Take it with a pinch of salt.

Was impressed with him in the league cup at Palace a couple of seasons back (sorry if memory a bit ****e). Looked better than JWP that night. Some good work tonight, particularly liked the fake look pass for the third goal a la Ronaldinho.

I think our high press last season tended to lead to us getting on top early (whether me made it pay was another matter). This season we're not pressing anywhere near as much and I wonder whether this change is as much to blame for our slow start to games. We're feeling our way into them rather than taking them by the scruff of the neck. Anyway much better second half performance (without ever looking 100% comfortable at the back). Cork did great but thought Pelle deserved his goal after a very poor first half. Thought Long did OK second half too. I do worry at who'll create if Tadic doesn't play.

S'what I thought. Still, I guess you can see what most of us were worried about now eh? Definitely some on here who've gone over the top but enough stuff has gone on in the last few months to justify concerns. Hopefully Koeman gave 'em a rocket up the arse at half time.

The problem for me is that as well as bedding in tons of new players we are also playing a new style and new formation. My biggest worry when we employed Koeman was if the continuity would be good enough. Wonder if Tuchel would have been more seamless. Hopefully Koeman can get them playing as a team soon. There were good signs at Liverpool, god knows where they are now.
