Nope, but he’s just popped up on my twitter feed claiming it’s fallen through. Be perfect if they announce the signing right about now.

Saints vs Derby - FA Cup 3rd Round Replay Thread

Well that was utter toss. Long and Mo off, Redmond and Gallagher on pls. -
I’m guessing this unknown Odion Ighalo must be a different player than the one that scored 15 goals in the Premier League the season Watford got promoted? Because for a while that Odion Ighalo was getting a fair bit of press.

Don't get me wrong, fair play to Hughes for keeping us up, but he's yet to prove to me that this season he has a plan. Tonight's formation baffles me and when things don't go our way his changes are just odd. On Saturday we were crying out for someone else in midfield in the second half, maybe a bit of guile (Armstrong) to produce a better quality final ball, but instead we got Austin up top.

If it’s a loan deal I don’t have an issue with this. His injury record makes it a huge risk otherwise. I will say that this deal does kinda put the myth of the black box out to pasture once and for all.

The amount of times we’ve been carved open by one long ball down the middle is bloody frightening. -

Very poor performance overall. Lemina has looked a like a headless chicken so disagree with you there. We keep dithering about with it at the back when playing out and look very nervy as a result. Poor passing and a distinct lack of a game plan or shape. Austin pressing on his own and most of the players looking like they’re running in treacle. I know we’ve struggled for goals but I think the two up top leaves us outnumbered in midfield. All in all the signs aren’t good for the season ahead. -
Personally I think her father bought the club as something fun to do in his retirement with all the money he'd made. I do think given the free reign NC was given, that he was prepared to fund an attempt on making us more than just a mid table prem team. Would we ever have been top four/six? In all likelihood no, but it was great to have an owner that seemed willing to try and it was nothing if not exciting, something us Saints fans hadn't had much of over the last two or three decades. Markus' untimely death put paid to all that. Kat never asked for a football club as part of her inheritance and I'd imagine she's wanted rid ever since so that she can spend her money as she see's fit. I don't blame her for that and I don't think she's been maliciously asset stripping, I can't see that she would have wanted to tarnish her father's name like that. However I do think that she's probably been frustrated in finding a buyer that was willing to pay what she wants, hence who we've ended up with. So yes I do hold her partly to blame, but I don't think she set out to ruin us

Which away games are you looking forward to in the Championship?

Rest assured that your post isn't the reason I won't be renewing my subscription on here, anyone who can be bothered can check how my post number has dwindled over the last year or so. That's down to a general dislike of the way modern football is going, the dire state of Saints style of football and the number of posters on here who act like ****s. I didn't feel you were being aggressive but excuse me if I don't like being told I'm not a fan by some bloke who knows nothing about me. As someone else pointed out while you haven't come out and said Hughes is guaranteed to keep us up, you've come pretty close to it. But while we're on the subject of our ill fated conversation, have a look back and see if you once see me say I'd take relegation over Hughes. Before I sign off I'll try to clarify my take on this. If Hughes is the best the club can get (and given the situation I find that highly likely) and they have an agreement that no matter what it's until the end of the season, after which we will review things, I don't have a problem. My issue is that I can't see why anyone, apart from someone in semi-retirement, would agree to this. So assuming that Hughes is offered a deal where he gets to stay if he keeps us up, I'd rather just plan for the future and get someone else at the end of the season. Wipe the slate clean and get decent foundations in place. Otherwise I can see us being in the same situation again within another couple of seasons.
-
Hughes isn’t guaranteed to keep us up if you don’t understand that you’re a pillock. And fans like me will continue to support the club come relegation or not. I’d just rather the club didn’t tie us to a manager that I don’t believe is a good fit for the way we are supposed to play moving forwards. If he gets the job I’ll get behind him and wish him my best and if he keeps us up and has a successful Saints managerial career I’ll happily admit I was wrong. People like you are the reason I rarely post on here any more so you’ll be happy to note that I’ll **** off again and leave you and the proper fans to it.
-
‘So called fans’? All fans have different opinions, doesn’t make us any less fans. Of course I’d be gutted if we got relegated but there is football outside the Premier League.
-
I’m saying that if Hughes takes the job it’ll be until be with the proviso that if he keeps us up he gets the job. Obviously I’d be over the moon that we’d survived but also feel that Hughes is a sticking plaster, that we would be unlikely to improve next season with him in charge and as a result would rather we planned for the future. Anything else is ****ing Groundhog Day and I for one am ****ing fed up with it.
-
To be honest while I think we now have a better chance of staying up than with Pellegrino in charge, I think it extremely unlikely whichever candidate takes charge. I Do not believe that someone like Hughes is going to come in with the previso it’s only until the end of the season, so if he does get the job it’ll probably be on a two or three year contract. As I don’t think he’s a good fit for the job I’d rather the board pick the right person for the long term, even if it means appointing an interim coach from within until the end of the season. While I don’t think Ancelotti is in the frame (why would he lower himself), I’d suggest that with only 8 games left he’s the only type of coach that would be willing to take such a short job.
-
I think this could be part of it. I've always felt his attitude was ****e, or at least he comes across as someone who always whines and blames others for his own mistakes. That backs up fans views of modern players as self indulged, entitled idiots, so I think this doesn't help his popularity amongst us.
-
I'm not a huge fan of the Dark Knight but I think he's probably right in this case.
-
Pretty much what I think. I don't reckon Puel's rotation policy helped. Just when he looked to be getting to grips with things he'd be rotated out again. Towards the end of the season he was just abysmal.
-
More likely we'll say "pay what we want or we release the evidence".
-
I'll be disappointed if he goes to Liverpool, as I think he's way better than that. I have a feeling that he'd be happy to stay another season, but for the kind of figures being bandied about I imagine the club will see it as good business. Realistically people need to realise where we are in the pecking order of world football. Sure it sucks, but that's modern football for you.

We won't announce Gabbiadini until after the match. That way if we lose it'll sweeten it a bit. -

His dad said he went over on his ankle and that he should be back for the weekend. -
I've always thought Sakho looks an average and clumsy player. Not comfortable on the ball either, which I thought was a prerequisite for our centrebacks these days?
