  1. As we did in the three games I have seen so far.
  2. Posting is not necessarily passing an opinion on a match. What I find valueless is posting opinions on a match based on the opinions of people who didn't see the match.
  3. You are entitled to an opinion, however an opinion on a team you haven't seen, or a match you haven't seen, is valueless in my view. I will only pass an opinion on players and matches I have actually seen. If I don't see the matches I will be reading with interest posts from those that were there, ignoring those that are passing opinions without seeing the matches. That is why we really need a postmatch thread exclusively for those who attended each match.
  4. I haven't got an opinion on the Cardiff match except I would have preferred a draw. I have got an opinion on the Celtic, WHU and Stoke games, as I saw the games. I will have an opinion on the 30+ games I will see this season. I respect the opinion of those that attend the matches even if it differs from mine. However I have no time for opinions formed by people who haven't seen the match or team they are pontificating on.
  5. A good idea, but do you really think people would let them do that, without filling up the thread with their uninformed opinions?
  6. The first post from somebody at the match. IMO a valuable insight. Statistics mean little, Radio commentaries give an opinion of the state of play in real time from professional witnesses. Opinions of the actual event without being there are worthless.
  7. What football fan in their right mind would expect any CCC team to play at Cardiff and not come under pressure. It is great experience, that this young team will now be aware of, and realise they have to pick up the pace when under pressure. They will improve, unlike last years team.
  8. What really ****es me off, is the self opinionated cyberfans who never seem to go to any games, but use their computers as statistical instruments to pontificate on the team, when it is obvious they are talking rubbish. They really should get a life, the only opinions worth listening to, and they vary, are people who have seen the match.
  9. I watched Sky and listened to Solent. It sounded like Davis had a decent game. I don't like him as a goalkeeper but he seems to have sharpened up his game a bit, claiming crosses and better distribution. Sky's reporting was totally onesided. Solent commentary indicated Saints did well and didn't deserve to lose. Any team will at times be under pressure at Cardiff. It sounded that we did all right.
  10. I agree, I've just watched BirminghamvSU, what frenetic utter dross.
  11. MLT wasn't a playmaker more a free role striker. Berkovich was a decent player, this lad looks like a real find and can head, tackle and link up the play. Belmadi and Idiakez played in teams with no pace, movement or dynamism, I thought neither were as influential as they should have been, apart from long periods injured. Results are not everything. I want to watch decent football not the crap served up in recent years by the so called experienced and may I say, slow, disappointing, overpaid, underperforming, unmotivated, unfit and disinterested players. Why wouldn't I and others be optimistic we are getting rid of the players who let us down.
  12. He didnt make the squad last year either.
  13. Hooray, three positive posts in a row, the team gives us hope after the dross of the last three years. I really don't care about the results, of course I want to win, but for me I want to see good football.
  14. He hasn't got a clue what we are talking about with this team. It is light years better than anything we have put out in the last 3 years. Schneiderlin is easily the best passer of a ball I have seen in that time.
  15. Have you seen the new team?

Now your talking. Lancashire played v Woking on Tuesday, so he's fit now as well.
  17. The "you" wasn't your post but all those negative posters who obviously haven't see the team play. The answer to your post was "So am I". A bit ambiguous though, I see where you are coming from. Is that better?

If it's a case of replacements it has to be youngsters. It is painfully obvious from both this season and last, the allegedly experienced players, do not have the ability or pace to fit in to the present setup, without damaging it's teamwork. That is why they are not playing and being shipped out. IMO there will be more young players like Holmes/Schneiderlin brought in as replacements.
  19. It would help if some of the posters actually saw this young team before coming out with such tripe based on last year. It is easily the best team we have had since the Premier and a pleasure to watch. Schneiderlin is the best midfield passer of the ball we have had since Alan Ball.

When there is a financially beneficial takeover, that is when I will take a view. Up to now we have had one offer from SISU, and an overactive cyberspace imagination caused by unsubstantiated rumours and penniless tyrekickers. The present lot don't have the money and will have to borrow it. They obviously up to this moment have been unable to raise it. In any event borrowing shedloads of money and spending it on a tv pundit with no management experience, no matter how good a player, plus high cost signings is going to turn this club into another Leeds in short order. What I am buying into is the idea of young players bolstered by good experience, playing attractive, pacy, attacking football. That is the reality, takeovers are pie in the sky, unless the buyer has £50m of their own money to waste on a football club.
  21. I watched at least 25 games of the most unimagineable dross it's been my misfortune to witness last season. I really don't give a jot for last years team. I have seen enough of the present team to know that they will do a lot better and be a pleasure to watch, compared with last season's rabble.
  22. The players you keep on about lack pace, can't pass, don't compete, and more importantly can't cope with the sheer pace of the football being played. These young players are used to winning. They have played in winning teams for the last few seasons and it shows. They play with a swagger that we haven't seen for years. If you aren't going to the games it doesn't make any sense to pass hard and fast opinions on the basis of historical memory. We have moved on.
  23. Optimism, spirit, teamwork and a lack of fear improves a team out of all proportion to the collection of individuals, such as we have seen in the past. Caution, fear, cause teams to freeze and perform poorly as we did last season. Give me confidence and optimism every time.

    When o when

James looks the real deal and Surman is settleing in well. Remember players often find a change of position suits them, eg Kevin Philips, once a full back who was too small.

Saints over the last couple of years spent a fortune on buying players and paying inflated wages. We ended up being very nearly relegated, playing absolutely dire football. We lacked pace, commitment, passing ability, lost game after game, were a club divided. I liked the pace, belief, commitment, teamwork and enthusiasm of the young players. Led by Svennson/Perry/Davies we could well have a team where the sum of the parts far exceeds the collection of individuals. This was how Havant got to play Liverpool at Anfield.
