If they did that I'd cash both my tickets in for a refund. Then buy a 67% ticket. So would everybody else.

The Echo implied he wasn't fit yet on Friday, If it is something else I for one , would like to know what it is.

Ok. instead of obscure innuendo, HOW IS HE TRAINING?
-
Why the hell can't the players and management see that it is childishly simple and fundamental. It's simple, ask McGoldrick does he want to play or not. in that case does he want to play wide. Then tell him what that means and if he doesn't comply even as early as 5 mins, he's coming off.
-
Should have been taken off as soon as he stopped playing wide. Even when he thought he was wide, he was 10yds inside the touchline. Tries to run every time he gets the ball. It is fundamental that the wide players hug the touchline, except when the play is on the other wing, then come in towards corner of the penalty area. It is the only way we can stretch the defence and give multi passing options for the team. Every time we have played badly has been when the team is narrow allowing the defence to compact and negating our passing options.

Saints 0-0 Barnsley - Reaction/Doughnuts/Lucy Pinder Thread

I recollect two McCann free kicks and Devaney breaking down the right in injury time for 2-3. -
Evening George, when did you get back?
-
I think what you have said is valid, however my point was the possible improvement in quality recruitment for the academy in the future, not present players. Also to get in good young loans / free transfers eg, Pekart/Holmes players with no chance of breaking through at their present clubs.

Glad to see you summarised the main problems. What was McGoldrick playing at, just like wednesday, wandering inside, never outside, never covering, ambling about hands on hips, almost "if I can't play up front I'm not interested" Unless the team retain their shape we are just going to get blocked off like today allowing the defence to pack. JP went down in my estimation today, I would have pulled the lazy git off after half an hour. -
The club refund pro rata the number of games left on the ticket if you take it back.
-
I like it. Leeds played in packs as well.

You spotted that then, he races back, then doesn't get goal side of Surman, so no cover. The so called coaching really hasn't happened for me. These are things that should have been ingrained from the beginning of their time here. It's the dribbling thing that is forcing him inside on his good foot, he needs to belt the ball past the defender and run wide. His pace would then drag defenders out to try and cover. A bit like Syddy trying to play like Terry, which of course he didnt do, just belted it 20 yds and ran for the corner, of course the defenders will try and get across, but it causes chaos when it works. McGoldrick was the same, played allegedly wide, wandered inside and all over, everywhere except wide. So our passing options were reduced and our shape was lobsided.

Hockaday was first team coach with Boothroyd at Watford the year they were promoted. Stewart Henderson has been here for years.

Whilst not strictly academy, I included Jones, plus Mills.

I don't really have any disagreements, there are all sorts of views, however I think we have the chosen path of the club to live with at this time. I'm not into perfect scenarios, we have only what the management have decided to do. It would be nice to bring through talent and have enough GOOD players to help them out. That would be ideal in the circumstances. I just happen to think that whilst not ideal, looking on the positive side, the consequences could produce better recruitment in the future. I do however like the type of football they play. I also think they will, given a few positive results, improve immeasureably.

Maybe best to wait and see how this pans out, as your crystal ball is no better than mine.

Go to the injuries page of the team section OS. I think Thomas has a bad knee injury.
-
You are a sad individual. It was in the Echo at 0700, changed during the day and went on the OS about 1800.
-
That's why possibly more of them, could find their way here in the future, as a consquence of the club policy.
-
Same 11 Ron, but for me McGoldrick was AWOL from wide right. I wouldn't consider him there, he has no discipline, it unbalanced the team. That leaves Lallana to play wide and McGoldrick behind Pekart. Otherwise I would leave him out and play Dyer or Thompson wide right.
-
It may well have been that we only produced the players that reached the first team. If more had been given the chance in a younger team we might have more playing now. Blackstock, mills, Cranie, Best for example. They were all on the periphary but hardly ever picked.

As I've said before I'm not talking about players at the club, I'm talking about the perception of parents seeing enhanced opportunity because of the club's present policy. As a consequence, if parents want their sons to come here before 17 there is damn all other clubs can do about it, as long as we don't poach them.
-
Maybe true, it's not a plan, just a perceived possible consequence. If I was a parent and could see a 30/50% chance of playing first team football and if good enough a transfer, rather than a possible 5% chance I know where my son would go.
