There is nothing particularly normal about the mood swings of some football fans. Most of it is just over emotional self indulgence or self pity.

Kelvin Davis- are saints fans the most fickle in the league?
derry replied to shurlock's topic in The Saints
Much improved this year, better all round performances. I think the QPR connection was two years ago when he had loads of time, dallied on the ball, lost it and QPR scored out of nothing. -
Ron Davies, Jimmy Gabriel, Tony Knapp, George Kirby, Chris Nicholl, George O'Brien, Brian O'Neil etc etc.

I really don't know why you bother explaining. If people really don't understand the implications of administration, or worse do, and let their prejudices overrule common sense, they don't merit attention.
-
Even if they can see it, they won't understand it.

Or have a feeding frenzy when we lose.

It's a "pup" old boy. I would have bought both of mine and will again. Much better than last year and most of the year before.

The ref just got it wrong, the Norwich player wasn't clever, just clumsy.

No, we are not, we are Southampton.

Sums it up nicely for me. I'm delighted with the improvement in KD. He was always a first class shotstopper, he seems to be expanding his game, confidence/distribution/communication and I thought the cross he caught at the end was a collecters piece.

Agree, still whatever the result it's far better than last season. It's going to be a rollercoaster, knowing that, it is much easier to cope with the disappointments, whilst enjoying the football and the effort put in by all the players.

The same way there is a negative feeding frenzy, when we don't win. It seems to me, the people who go to the games have more of an even perspective, whatever the result. When we win, there is a much more objective and passive reaction, but when we lose different posters do get carried away.

Don't expect many on here to understand.

Nick, I wasn't on because I've just got bored with the same prats saying the same thing, week in week out. I really couldn't care less about negativity. Especially from people who don't go to matches, but somehow think that doesn't matter. What's the point in arguing with somebody who hasn't been to watch the team. Great, when we win, a wee bit disapointed with a home draw, better with an away draw, so what we lost, bring on the next game. It's not surprising that people are switching off, watching the same few having a feeding frenzy after a defeat isn't even interesting.

His girlfriend is a friend of my son, lives in Totton. I doubt we could afford his wages.

Where did the 442 come from. According to the commentary as soon as John went off we pulled McGoldrick into midfield and played 451 with Pekart up on his own Lallana in the hole.

This was in the press months ago before Ipswich takeover finalised.

It is blindingly obvious what the problem is. Passing football cannot be played if there is no width. The players picked to play wide, don't and move around all over the place. The wide men have to be there to give multi options. Whenever one goes missing and the other players expect an outlet it forces us to go narrow, Blackpool, Ipswich, Barnsley, Rotherham. The biggest culprit is McGoldrick playing where he wants, despite being picked wide, sod the system.
-
When we had wide players, playing wide we played well. Every time we have played badly, the wide players, especially McGoldrick played where they liked and totally messed up the system. Wide means on the touchline, not down the middle or on the other wing. JP has said this after every game, A tray of teacups hitting the wall may be a better point maker.
-
The bloody problem is that McGoldrick who is picked to play wide, just won't do as he is told and plays everywhere but. If he is picked wide he should be made to play there. The midfielders expect the wing to be occupied. He is messing up our teamplay with his inability to follow instructions. It sounds like JP is too nice to him, he needs to teach him some respect.

I did get a tip, you know somebody inside.
-
Should have given him a bloody good boot up the backside for all to see.
-
It doesn't matter what system you employ if the players detailed to do a job refuse to comply. McGoldrick, in the last two matches should have been taken off when he didn't play wide as required. His slumped shoulders and hands on hips were disgraceful. The team can't play if the width is not there.

Course you can, price pro rata to games remaining.
