  1. I'm not sure we are that serious about spending otherwise could have just concentrated on what we needed which is a proven goalscorer. Maybe we need a hammering tonight and lose on Saturday to concentrate the minds. Whatever they say they would have to be stupid to even think that Adams, Armstrong and Mara are going to get goals.
  2. Being reported we've moved on to other targets. What a load of rubbish.
  3. I get the feeling it's us setting a lower valuation and not attempting to reach an acceptable compromise. We aren't going to be able to buy players on the cheap in the January window.
  4. Being reported that Jackson on his way to Bournemouth for a medical with a €23m with addons fee agreed.
  5. Very likely has been tapped up if not him his agent (parents) looking for a wedge.
  6. Speculation regarding Estupinan of Hull. Everton and Forest dropped out. Against Sheff Utd he was very ordinary and so were Hull. I hope it's just clickbait.
  7. That may well have been because the picture angle of the linesman was showing him in advance of the offside position not how he got there immediately after showing Mara onside.
  8. Jones said because of his age and fitness problem they are having to manage Lavia's playing time because they fear he will break down again if he plays too many games fpr too long.
  9. I switched it on in the middle and missed that. I just caught the end when it sounded like they were talking about soft fouls and a lack of consistency.
  10. The program I was watching did highlights at the end of the match and reviewed it along with the goals, allowed and disallowed. It showed several angles level, then showed the linesman with his flag up twenty yards further forward. The TV showed onside and the commentators confirmed the linesman had got it wrong. It was pretty obvious he was a good yard onside and the linesman was way offline..
  11. Dermot Gallagher on Ref Watch described it as a good save and was first to the ball.
  12. I think people are talking about competing with centre backs when we play high balls from back to front. It says more of the stupidity of the passes because in the centre he is dominated by the big centrebacks attacking the ball. The balls need to be hit out towards the touchline he is nearest to, to give him the chance to compete against a bouncing ball where he has a good chance of winning the ball.
  13. Have you been watching his games. I've seen every game he has played in the last two months. He has scored some vital game changing goals on the break thanks to his pace and composure.
  14. I think one of the major problems is a lack of consistency between referees and VAR and the interpretation of a clear and obvious error. Against Everton Coleman cleaned out Adams with a shoulder charge in the middle of his back, nothing was given as it was in the penalty area, outside it was a foul and possibly a yellow card. Why??? At free kicks/corners defenders are holding, in some cases wrestling, hardly ever penalised. In that case the ball is dead but if referees let the kick be taken and then gave a penalty it would soon stop that. Years ago there was no holding, anybody that did stood a pretty good chance of getting an elbow in the chest or face. After I had poleaxed a player the referee just said " He had that coming" and just carried on. A hand on another player or shirt tug should be penalised with a booking that would probably stop it especially if a penalty was given. Even better in GAA football and hurling the referees have a black card for these so called professional fouls. The player is sent off immediately but a substitue replacement is allowed. Jones is talking about being more agressive. Possibly but we should be smarter. When Arsenal won the double Adams etc used to step up as the kick was taken, the opponents were offside every time. Lyanco was the first to drop back and he played Watkins onside, even if we'd held the line he was offside.
  15. I ask myself with all the demonstrated faults especially finishing and runs into the goal area on the off chance or staying onside to take through balls etc what the hell have the coaches been doing for the last three years. Tella has improved out of all recognition under Kompany in half a season. His finishing is clinical now, he was a rabbit in the headlights before.
  16. Our Academy has also got it wrong sometimes after the recruitment was right. Releasing too early Ings, Ben White, Twine, Mings to name a few.
  17. TV looked at the Mara offside after and showed he was onside but the linesman was twenty yards nearer the goal and wasn't level and got it wrong.
  18. I heard a concerning thing if true about our scouting. It was that we have a bunch of graduates with Sports Degrees on computers scouting. No wonder if that's true we are signing mostly trash. It's not rocket science, pace, non negotiable, Strength, non negotiable, a cool football brain, non negotiable, two footed, non negotiable, skills such as tackleing, heading, shooting as appropriate to position, non negotiable and above all courageous. It doesn't take much watching to pick out what's wrong with most of our players. Defenders, one footed, slow, poor in the air and just stupid how did that happen.
  19. Firstly Adams hasn't scored eight goals in the Premier League. maybe four. Secondly if we want a striker/s then stop messing about do what West Ham has done act decisively and stop trying to haggle until the Window is closed. WHU signed Ings in two days and according to the French press have signed Moffi from Lorient for £21m. So much for our piddling offer. No wonder we were blown out of the water. If we want players get in and do a deal because we sure as hell can't continue with Adams and Armstrong.
  20. Welcome, thanks. The sooner they start him the better. It's unbelievable he hasn't played yet.
  21. If that means playing Adams and Armstrong as strikers he's an idiot. They've had too much time between them already. It's time to move on. Playing them and expecting them to change and score goals is a good definition of Insanity.
  22. In football terms I think he's thick. He never even reacted looking along the line, he was offside. Then panic set in and a simple finish was missed. He was offside anyway. His miss did more to sum him up, he has no idea as a finisher and the more time he gets the worse the finish. We can't keep playing a striker that is most comfortable thirty yards out from goal spoiling, he's there to finish and he doesn't do that regularly with the chances he gets. He is also unaware of the times he is regularly in offside positions. Even when he scores my first thought is always, was it offside?
  23. I just think in footballing terms he's thick. He looked ponderous and slow today and if the ball is in the air wins practically nothing. Stood before the ball was played today and froze and his attempt at finishing was indicative of panic that shows on every clear opportunity he spurns. If anybody wants to see good clinical finishing have a look at some of Tella's goals for Burnley. He is a better finisher than anybody we have as an attacker except maybe Orsic. We need to get him back and give him a run in the free role he obviously enjoys at Burnley. I can't see us buying a better finisher than he has become.
  24. On reflection, I posted last night that we retreated too quickly at the free kick and Lyanco played Watkins on side. There is more to it, firstly Lyanco was the first to take a step backwards so was the backmarker. We need an experienced defender that knows what he is doing to manage the defence. It needed two things in my opinion, one a player to call the play as the free kick is taken and secondly the whole line takes a step away from the goal on the call. That would in ninetynine times out of a hundred result in multi offsides. It would also give the keeper the room to try and claim the ball. He had no chance yesterday. Lyanco is hopeless at heading, done like a kipper by Fulham and under the ball yesterday, who the hell ever thought he would make a centreback. Salisu isn't that good in the air and was between two Saints players marking nobody. The zonal marking doesn't work. We need to have a better plan than line up and just run back as the kick is taken and allow the opponents to move in.
  25. Better still don't play him or Adams, Armstrong and Elyonoussi. What's the point in buying players and not playing them.
