Not really been near N Wales since. No head for high places. Do you remember listening to the the Grand National on the way up?

I've owned a 2.0 petrol Zetec Mondeo hatch since the middle of 2008. Although it isn't the fastest, it is comfortable, extremely well specced and a superb drive. I have the sports suspension on mine also. Can be a bit heavy on the juice, but that could be down to my right foot more than anything. I am due to decide what to do with it in May next year. I will either buy it outright or refinance it. I will not just be handing it back to the dealers as it has less than 20000 on the clock. Love the car.

Most remote place you,ve got a Saints result or commentary from
Winnersaint replied to thegaffer's topic in The Saints
Not remote on a global scale, but certainly out in the sticks. 3rd April 1976. On Cader Idris whilst on a A level Geography field trip. Radio reception wasn't good so no-one knew what was going on at Stamford Bridge. When we did pick up a signal Man U v Derby was the commentary on Radio 2. I remember listening to the Grand National. Rag Trade was the winner and then as we got lower down the slopes we picked up the other semi on the radio again. In a break in the play Bryon Butler announced that Saints were still one up at Stamford Bridge. Cue mad celebrations at this news. A little later the commentary cut to Stamford Bridge for the pen. Cue even madder wetter celebrations. There are lot of stream and pools up there. Que Sera Sera - Whatever will be, will be - We're going to Wemberley doesn't often ring around Snowdonia -

Not rocket science I know but with each year fewer and fewer of us who were at Wembley are around. I was 18 and a few weeks away from my A Levels then. My dad, now in his 80's was younger than I am now. I know there are significant numbers of us around, but maybe it is about time the memories of that day were collected, and maybe this site is a good pace to do it.

May 1st 2nd and 3rd 1976 are the most memorable three days in my life. Who can forget that muggy Saturday? What about the crush in the Civic Centre when the open topped bus came in? and Mick Channon's testimonial?
-
I was locked out of the record attendance game. It was a League Cup tie v Man U. I was in the cue for the boys entrance and there were only about ten in front of me when we told the turnstiles had shut. Problem was my Dad was already in the ground, so I had to wait till the end. What about Mick Channons testimonial? Now the Dell really was a bit on the crowded side that evening.

Archers on my dad's shoulders and then the funny ledge which had wooden barriers at junction of East Stand and lower end of Milton. a lot on Archers as a kid. Milton as teenager and eventually under West Stand towards Milton. Occasionally had use of STs in both ES and WS

A lot of people on Charlton websites allude to Pardew being an arrogant egotistical individual. Speaking to a mate who's a big Reading fan they also remember AP as a manager full of his own self importance who hightailed it off to a WHU without a backward glance. What he did for Saints underwhelmed me in terms of our play and style and tbh he never really seemed to buy into the Cortese/Markus vision in terms of passion. Just my opinion of course.

Supersoakers are great fun with cats. We once had one with an ice block to make the water colder. Got a cat right on the ring piece as it tottered along our fence tail held high a few years back. It never returned.

You must be a rarity, someone who lives in Bracknell who doesn't support Chelsea.

As a lazy arsed teacher earning far in excess of what I should be. I'd like to point out this thread is like some glorified 'who can **** highest up the wall competition. I'd also like to point out that I've just stopped my subscription to the NAS/UWT. Why? so I can use the subs to get a new £1000 road bike at 50% discount from the cycle to work scheme and enjoy riding it during my six week summer break, in between my two week holiday to Egypt.

I'm just coming up to the end of my 30th year teaching in Berkshire secondary schools. Some of what you say about the profession with regards to teachers sticking a video on and plonking themselves in a corner may well have been prevalent in the past. Schools that allow staff to get away with that today simply would not get past OFSTED. As for the salaries. I'd be interested to know what you regard as acceptable as you obviously imply here that 30000K does not offer vfm. The holidays thing is always trolled out whenever teacher's salaries, terms and conditions are discussed. Some cannot see how we get paid when we don't work. It's just that salaries are divided into twelve monthly installments instead of being paid only in term time. My job as a senior teacher is one which involves me managing the difficult and dissaffected across a school of around 1000 students and without wanting to wanting to sound like billy Big ******** I earn well over half as much again as the average teacher. I have demanding targets, one of which was to reduce exclusions from the school by 35% this year, the team I lead has reduced it by 64% and at the same time improved the performance of said disaffected in exams. Every Child Matters.

113.9p ASDA Lower Earley - A bit far away for most, but great for me. What I don't get is how ASDA are selling for 115.9p in Chandlers Ford and 113.9p 40 miles up the road.
