I couldn't believe the answer to a question asked to a northen Englishman on a saturday evening tv quiz show. Q - "Penzance is in which English county?" A - "Scotland". Seriously? WTF?

Pelle is 100/1 to be top goalscorer with Paddy power. Each way gives 1/4 odds for a top four place. Last season 17 goals came 4th and J-Rod bagged 15. £15 ew gives a return of £1905 - worth a tumble.

Deliberate or Glenn Cockerill Special ?

I agree about the width and it was interesting that Koeman chose to play Tadic on the left when he had (or so I read) played on the right during pre-season and had established a good understanding with Clyne. Obviously our goal came from a link up between the two players.

We are #9 in the list of summer spending so far...

We'd probably be last in net spend @ + €50m (or should that be first?) -

Forster Clyne - Fonte - Gardos - Bertrand Morgan - Wanyama - Taider Long - Pelle - Tadic Wanyama steps back to make three when required. Long & Tadic effectively mobile and interchange. FB's overlap. Fluid going forward. Pressing from Long & Tadic in first instance and supported by rest. Bench Boruc Cork Yosh Ramirez Reed JWP Gallagher etc

Seem to remember reports from last season (before Wanyama injury) that Jack had said that Pochettino hadn't spoken to him in quite a while and that he was in the dark regarding things. Now it seems that another incoming manager doesnt think that much of him. Back up player, last year of contract, significant salary and possibly blocking promotion of academy players... I love Jackie Cork but head over heart and all that.

It never went to court and i dont think the police were even called

Fraser Forster Joins on 4 Year Deal - Official
Highfield Saint replied to Wrensup's topic in The Saints
Koeman says that Boruc is in the last year of his contract so we have signed competition now rather than wait until we have no cover. Makes sense in that he might want to move on as a free agent next summer so as it stands we have good competition for the next 12 months at least. If he resigns then the tactic has obviously worked. If not then we either see if we have a younger keeper coming through or we purchase a second keeper for back up and competition to Forster (just like every other club). -
Ferck orf You're not good enough Ferck orf You're not good enough (never seen him play just going by what I've heard on here)

Hi SOG. We've been there as well with our daughter who eventually got down to almost 6 stone and ended up being hospitalised. The best we can understand is that it is about control of something in their lives but this becomes almost addictive (not the right word but the closest I can get). She is OK now but very aware of her body image and of the possibility of a fall back into addictive behaviour. She has many tattoos which might be a form of control (as she knows they shock us a bit) and has an interesting career. She also still clashes with her mum which is where the fight for "control" is. We tried everything from psychiatrists to psychics to medicine and ended up with yoga and mindfulness which was by far the most successful of all the treatments for her. Interestingly the psychic form a deep and lasting bond with her that is still there to this day. It changed all our lives and was such a sad time. The effects on the rest of the family - especially her younger brother - were far reaching. please let me know if I can help in any way.

Equally I am not saying that he did nothing right but his opportunistic approach to acquire the football club and in particular the methods employed from a (in this industry) man of straw resulted in the failure of his ambition at all of our expense. He was financially under resourced and under capitalised as well as being an odious and nasty man in my opinion.
-
He didn't though did he hence the sale of players to reduce wages which coupled to the disastrous managerial changes sent us into a downward spiral. Deserves no credit at all as he spun his position and reputation from the assets and goodwill of others. Really have no time for him or his opinions.

French jornalist Romain Molina says Liebherr wants to sell
Highfield Saint replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints
We dont know that tbh and even if that is the case we have a position where the salary pot has been increased (although I dont know if it will apply this year) thus allowing better players to be acquired or retained in the medium term. We would need to retain our PL status though. This may be a step backwards to move more than one step forwards in the next few years by which time hopefully our commercial income will have increased to support salaries. If not then there will be a future raft of player sales. Welcome to sustainability. -
French jornalist Romain Molina says Liebherr wants to sell
Highfield Saint replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints
It could be a longer term strategy from the club in that player sales in excess of book value are represented as income and therefore allow a larger salary pot under FFP rules. This would in theory allow for us to improve the quality of the player base at the club over the medium term as well as generating the cash and asset base to enable the same. -
There is a wage cap but unfortunately it reinforces the status quo and elitism by limiting wages to an element of turnover - FFP

Do you mean that not being adept means they are inept? Compare with our peers? who are they? We have been back in the top flight for two seasons and it has just been announced that we will be televised three times in the first half of the season. This possibly correlates in this context to our peers and marketing worth at this time. As others have said and as I think the club understand - it takes time and a long term strategy to build value.

On what basis is £2m for shirt sponsor + profits from shirt manufacture and sale commercial ineptitude???

The Flip Side - Very Compelling Project For Koeman
Highfield Saint replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
I don't agree with the "time to gel" argument. MP was a change of style and combined with new players but was picked up with barely a break in stride. Incoming players will be quality footballers of international standing who should be able to play with other similar players within a structure set down by the club which runs from the youngest playing group to the senior squad. If they are not capable of this then don't sign them. Look at Roma last summer who sold or loaned some of their best players replacing them with so-called lesser players (and a 37 yr old Totti as captain) and went on a run of 10 consecutive wins which is the best in their history (and a Serie A record) and ended up with finishing second in the league. To quote Greavsie "It's a funny old game" -
Get over it. I wish him well, now let's move on.
