The mistake was (with hindsight admittedly) keeping vvd through the summer window. This left us with a want away, underperforming and disruptive player. This also prevented us from purchasing the players we needed to balance the playing squad and has left us panicking in this window.

The side hasn't been balanced since Pelle left. We are much better with Charlie playing - he plays we have a forward outlet and a goal threat, he doesn't and we become cautious and one dimensional. Times change and sacking a manager isn't the drastic step it used to be. Having said that I wouldn't change him unless it was for something that excited and united the club to it's fanbase. It might be Potter, Bosz or the blades manager but someone with an identity and a way about them. This might differ with the proclaimed "Southampton Way" but it seems that has been caught and passed by several of the clubs in the division. It needs to adapt to circumstances or be left behind
