If you look on Wiki It says that he signed for the Southampton on the 27th June, I never believe it until its official from the SFC website.

What worries me is that I was told once that in the 1950's we were well clear of the league and we looked like being promoted, we couldn't get any points and guess what! we didnt get promoted, it looks very much like that today i:e we were clear of the relegation zone but now we are back in it, I know we've never been clear of the relegation zone but if you look back at some of the losses and draws we made against teams that were lower than us if we had won a one we would be clear, thats what does my head in.

This was an email I received from a friend who watched the game in South Africe ..... "They played very well. I am getting so many messages from friends who had never heard of them. I can remember McMenemy saying to the then Scottish manager that he would pay for him to come to see Eric Martin play, a few months later he dropped him for Ian Turner still cant understand why.

I remember coming back from the Charity Cup match in 1976, for some reason the coach driver would not stop at a service station and my ex wife was dying for a pee. She had to wait until we got back to the Inner Avenue where we got off the coach and as we walked towards Howard Road where we lived she then pee'd down herself, unusual for women its normally men who do that.

One issue I will always have with LM is on a interview which he said that the cost of going to football match should be greater than going to a live show, the problem I have is that at least in a live show you know what you're going to see, with football and especially SFC you dont know who's turning up, that is then and now. I can remember speaking to some Grimsby fans after he signed for us, I asked is he any good they replied as a manager he is crap but getting people behind the team he is brilliant, I remember LM taking the team to the docks & to Ford's and getting massive publicity, so he was good at that. I also remember Lew Chatterley playing for us, his final match he was subbed and all the fans boo'ed him off the pitch the following Tuesday it was announced he was being appointed as a coach at Torquay, that made my day. Why LM ever played him I'll never know but somebody once said that he was LM's brother in law so that seemed to fit.

I've just been on the BBC Predictor site & the result I predicted was that we finished 4th, what I found annoying was you predict a match that Brighton played & no problem, Brighton wouldn't lose, make a prediction for Saints you just dont know!!! Huddersfield are a team I think that are just picking up the momentum & are a big threat to us. I think one of the problems we have is that we aren't consistant enough & that isn't just this season I think last season was the same.

BBC South just said that Southampton FC havn't commented about the possible takeover.

Its strange really you would have thought after beating a prem team in the fa cup that would have lifted us, its done the opposite, I wonder what will happen if we get hammered in the cup will that lift us.

Just think if we had lost the forum would be full with the same people saying "thank goodness we lost" or words to that effect :-) you just can't win.

Man U at home that will get the staff & police recall what it was like when we were in the prem & what it will be like in a couple of years.

I tend to agree with with Alpine, I know last year we had -10 but this time last year we had to have 3 different teams because we were in 3 different tournament's how does that help the team to gell? Going on our form of last year after having beat some higher team Tuesdays match will be a disaster! I only hope we have improved. Wait for the abuse :-)
