Agreed Chris. I don't think Wotton is a natural CB, Cork too early to say. Lancashire... we won't know for three games now... That said, we couldn't have had worse luck with the timing of their second goal. Just after we come back into the game and start to look more confident...

Once again, I feel compelled to refer you to the way we play with attacking 'wingbacks' which demands cover from the centre-backs as well as the midfield. James was out of position so it is incumbent on Ollie to cover. What he did NOT have to do, was arrive in the air... Standing up, he could have forced Delaney wide and simply delayed his delivery... But hell, the kid's learned a harsh lesson. Bet he's never done it before and won't again.

Not great Jon, too low down. Close enough to the pitch to shout at their players, but got a gobfull from their fans when I did!!!
-
From where I was sat he ran and launched himself. And yet could easily have just stood up. I think if you were handing out red cards for stupidity, he would have a hatful for that challenge. BUT, as I said above, I won't castigate him for it. He waited a long time for a chance and blew it. Sometimes I watch Freddie Flintoff go out and hammer his first ball to cover and hold my head in my hands. But what can you do, sportsmen make mistakes and all you can hope is that they LEARN from them.
-
I was sat with your fans and most agreed you were poor and outplayed for long periods. But you improved when Rowlands and Ageymong came on and when the linesman handed you a guilt-edged gift just after we had levellled the scores and you were about to be tonked!! Cheeky basket.
-
The guy is a real pro.
-
No? At full speed from the halfway line that's how it looked and I immediately thought red card. I heard Dowie on the way home say he was unlucky and I was surprised. Will need to watch again tonight. But at the time, I thought he would be straight off. Shame for the lad.

Find me ONE Newcastle fan who has a good word to say about Freddy Shepherd... I thought we learned already, swapping Lowe for ANYONE is like swapping Burley for ANYONE. Sometimes the 'ANYONE' is Mike Ashley... or Freddy Shepherd...or Dodd and Gorman... I'm not averse to a new owner, just not a rich one purely because he is rich. Otherwise, let's ring up George Bush's office - he'll be twiddling his thumbs after November...

What can you say?? The first goal was a shocker... We then started to get back into the gamje really well. We made QPR look pedestrian and had just started to take the ascendency when the red card happened. Even with ten men we still maintained our shape and (after five minutes of bo!!ox football at the start of the second half) really started to play well again. We then get a richly deserved equaliser and what a sensational goal. Then, we defend a free kick with a move that plays their player off. And the linesman (who frankly had been shocking for both sides) must have been out having a kip, or maybe had nipped out to South Africa road for a fag, fecking missed it. AND IT WAS REPLAYED ON THE BIG SCREEN AND THE REF REFUSED TO FECKING ACKNOWLEDGE THE MISTAKE AND HAD A GO AT OUR PLAYERS WHO SHOWED IT TO HIM. After this, the result was a predictable shame... When I have calmed down I will tell you how proud I am of the lads today and how good a footballer Adam Lallana is. Just a superstar (as acknowledged by all the QPR fans I sat with)...
-
I was sat with QPR fans (long story) and have to say from the halfway line (similar angle to ref) he went through him at waist height... HOWEVER. HARSH lesson that will make him a stronger man I hope. I for one, will NOT berate a young guy on his debut making a mistake.

No friend, I agree 100% (or more...). But Lowe has always been respectful in what he says publicly (and as far as we know privately) whereas Shepherd... To me 'class' has never had anything to do with accent, money or breeding - it has to do with conduct. And I would like my football club and players to conduct themselves with decency, which Lowe (for all his faults) always seems to have done. So if (and ideally when) he relinquishes control I would like it to be to someone else 'decent', not someone who thinks it's appropriate to increase ticket charges and refer to the people who pay them as slappers and mugs... And in his conduct towards Sir Bobby Robson, Shepherd revealed all that he is - a horrible, unlikable little oik!
-
Really, you'd be happy for your Chairman to be lounging around the pool in Ibiza calling girls from your home town slappers/slags and referring to fans in less than glowing terms?? At least our Chairman seems to be 'decent' - misguided maybe, but Shepherd?? Why can't we just build a football club we can be proud of... In five years Manchester City fans will be wondering why they can't buy tickets and their team plays half its games around the world to boost the Abu Dhabi 'brand'... All that glisters is not gold.
-
Nice one have done... funny how in the days of interweb you forget the bleedin' obvious!!! Tickets available... but don't get there before me if you want one...
-
Just before I splash the old Brut and don the footie trousers, I am assuming I can bowl up and buy a ticket on the gate??
-
Really? Freddy?? One thing you can say about Lowe he does at least have a modicom of class... Shepherd? A glorified scrap-metal merchant.... hmmm... just what we need

Why do we always make such a poor start to the season?

Calm down friend. If you're going to adopt this every time a team plays... WE can only win our games. We can't win others we don't play in... -

Oh, we won the two cup games - sorry, I thought you avoided commenting on those...silly me. Yes, you're right, six games into the season, we've won half. What was your depressing assessment of that again?? I forgot... -

Currently Spurs are bottom of the Premiership and Liverpool top. I will have an even £1,000 with ANYONE who wants it that is not how the Premiership concludes... -

5 games... So even if we lose we have one more for the miracle to take effect... -

Actually, I have checked and we would need to be deductaed points for this to occur so do you know something about our financial state you are not telling us?? -

Oh good, that will give me a reason not to log on tomorrow evening... -

But not me, sir. Find the post in which I predicted we would lose to Blackpool and asked for some restraint. But like Anton Ego, I cannot order 'perspective'. I can only order what is on the football menu and then provide the perspective myself... -

Yes, last season I agree 110% - or not - it seems there is a debate about whether it is feasible to have more than 100% of anything... Which is probably why we have a country hurtling headlong into recession run by mindless cretins who are more concerned about re-election than sorting out the crap that has been caused by virtue of house-prices being worth 400% of what they were a decade ago... But then I'm just getting older and desparing of the feral society we have created... A lot of which will be improved if we stuff QPR tomorrow by the luckiest of flukey 1-0 wins... -

Last year it was because GB was criminally negligent with our defence. This year, we are surviving on unproven and untested players but who could be mid-table by 6pm tomorrow which would be an incredible start given the nature of our team and the way its come together. Historically, who knows. -
