You are mad!! He said THEY were losing...

Misread.

No James, no Morgan, no Svensson.
-
James and Morgan both unlikely.

Personally Um, I thought that the back four were badly let down by the holding midfielder who gave the ball away for the 2nd goal and the winger who gave the ball away for the first!! A lot of people keep giving our defence hammer when on occasions they have defended poorly but the WHOLE team has not been defending from the front and leaving the full-backs painfully exposed! For my money, James did not have a great game but Surman was OK. Thought Cork played really well and Perry his usual reliable self.

He still sounds quite sensible to me. I agree with him. I have only seen us play one bad game- Blackpool. And I agree we were 'reasonable' against Ispwich. I still think we were the better team than QPR - for long, long periods of the game. With a bit of luck and getting back to playing how we did against Birmingham twice, we will win or draw more than we lose. What we need right now is a good confidence boosting win on Saturday...

I hear what you're saying and I didn't express my point very well I don't think. If the short term way to win games is bankrupt the club in the long term, then would that be preferable?? Our plan is not one or the other - I'm sure we don't expect to lose. -
With hindsight : Dexter v Best v McGoldrick
Legod Second Coming replied to Marino's topic in The Saints
There were lots of QPR fans feeling the same way about Dexter as some of ours feel about McG. He's had a bloody good run in the side there and now in his 2nd/3rd season is finally coming good - and good on him to. -
You sir, are not just the sponsor of the Grand National, but a scholar of brilliant ideas... :)

I'm not 'having a go' at anyone. Someone had a go at someone else sarcastically calling them a better fan. My view is that those who go, versus those who can't be arsed ARE the real fans.. Ergo they (and I) are better fans - not best, not super but better for sure. The others, what are they?? People who love their wife while she's a fox and then move out when she hits middle-age?????
-
No, just better. There are super fans. I wish I had the time and cash to be one of them. Sadly, I have a balanced life and go as often as I can and maintain a job and family. Although, I sacrificed parent's evening last Wednesday (at some risk) because I knew there would be plenty of Premiership fans sat at home watching Ronaldo because he doesn't come to SMS any more... Sad but TRUE.
-
Define 'could'.... listen, I know there are some fans who can't go. I'm not an idiot. There are plenty who 'dont' go and, as you know because I am a ressonable and sane human being, it is them that I aim my barbed comments at.
-
I would think if we count our respective visits to SMS over the past five years it would be a pretty uneven match DD... And most of mine have been three years in the Championship and three games in the past ten days already...

We must be one of the few football clubs in the world where people put fantastic efforts into justifying why they DON'T attend matches. If you support a football club you find reasons why you CAN go - through the hail, wind, rain, whatever. Do you know what. I AM a better fan than some to55er who sits at home whinging. It's a FACT. It makes me a better fan. I'm not going to make excuses for people who stay away and say each to their own. Someone who stays away isn't a fan - they're just someone with a lose association with the club. Who likes the club to win. The fans/supporters GO to the games - mostly come hell or high water, all over the country. I, for my sins, am not as good a fan as those who go every week. And those who go every where. But I am a better fan than many on here. And fecking PROUD of it too.

We should have closed the Chapel.

Really? What if you and your nipper watch an amazing 5-5 game, with us grabbing the equalizer in the 94th minute. You would go home elated. Because that's how football works. If we went 1-0 up on 3 minutes and rode our luck like Walter Swinburn for the rest of the game but playing utterly pants, I'm sure your over-riding feeling would be one of relief. Because that's how football works. -

I'm not sure I agree. EVERY business needs a long-term strategy as well as short-term actions/tactics. So you could say that the long-term aim is to win every game. In the short-term we recognise that to build the long-term, we might lose some games while we BUILD for the long term. It then depends on how you define short and long term. Winning is everything IF you had a guaranteed formula to win. There isn't one. So, you have to have a plan. And then STICK TO IT. Otherwise you simply focus on the here and now and eventually find yourself lost. -

It's actually ten years to 2006 for certain - further back, who knows?!!! The people who now expect to see us win either have short memories or are short-term fans who arrived in 2001 onwards! Of course EVERY fan wants to see their team win. But most of (having been raised on a diet of losses and survivak scraps) appreciate the value of EFFORT and want to see our team give their all irrespective of outcome. If they try their hardest and lose - forgiveable. If they don't try their hardest and win - forgiveable. If they lose without trying that is totally and utterly unforgiveable. No one is totally satisfied with losing, however it is achieved, unless they truly are a masochist... and believe me we seem to have them in droves. -
Is that what it was??? Missed my bloody supper as a result! The dog enjoyed it, mind... I could tell by the way she was smiling at me at 11:48 when I got home!!! And then she had audacity to lick my face.
