  1. Attendances in the Singapore league are so low the players have started going round knocking on doors to try to entice new fans to matches. They average 932 spectators a match. Full story: BBC Radio 5 live's 606 newsletter Wonder if they will start doing this in Portsmyth?
  2. Joe Michalczuk ‏@joemichalczuk Afternoon. Finally the news is out is it? Told you there was court action in place...now if someone has the ability the lie in one blog?...
  3. Great bit of spin. Statement by Ashley Brown, Chairman of the Pompey Supporters' Trust following the hearing on Thursday February 21 in the Royal Courts of Justice. Ashley Brown, chairman of PST, said: 'We are pleased our bid is proceeding. As presented in court today our bid is fully funded and ready to go and we hope a date can be found in the near future to resolved this matter so the Trust can start the job of rebuilding the club. 'The Football League has also cleared up any confusion by making it clear for a third time that it will only consider a bid from PST. 'Our bid has widespread support, including from Portsmouth City Council, our property partner Stuart Robinson, local and national politicians, Supporters Direct and, most importantly thousands of loyal Pompey fans who have backed the club financially when it needed it most. 'They have done this by either buying shares, attending matches or, most importantly in the case of our high net worth investors, by underwriting the club's losses in the autumn. Without them the club may have already disappeared.' FL statement said no such thing about only dealing with the PDT bid, it stated only dealing about transfer of share - a totally different kettle of fish!
  4. But surely they don't need all that money as the bid is ready to go and fully funded already.
  5. As the song goes 'Always the victim............. its never your fault'
  6. Not bad maths just Pompey maths, anything is possible with that outlook.
  7. God he really is a sad, bitter and untalented little man.
  8. The PST released the following statement this morning http://www.pompeytrust.com/index.php?op ... o-category PST pressing ahead with bid after Football League decision The Pompey Supporters' Trust is today [Friday] pushing ahead with its bid to buy Portsmouth Football Club, after the Football League announced it would only consider a bid from the trust. A statement from the league on Thursday night made it clear that the PST community bid, backed by Pompey fans, local and national politicians and fan representative bodies such as Supporters Direct, was the only solution for saving the club. Chairman of the PST Ashley Brown said: 'The Football League has come to a sensible decision. Our bid is ready to go and we will be meeting with the administrator PKF shortly to prepare the timetable to complete our takeover. We have always been clear we are the best solution for the creditors and the best solution for the club and this has now been recognised across the board. 'Our bid will put capital into Portsmouth FC and will make a clean break from the past. Any fans who have been unsure about backing our bid financially can now do so in the confidence their money will go towards the rebuilding of the club. There is no knight, white or otherwise, who is going to do it for them,' he said. Well over 3000 fans have backed the PST bid by pledging, as individuals or in syndicates, around £2m in a share issue to invest in the club. And Brown called on Balram Chainrai to work with the trust to ensure a smooth transition. 'Mr Chainrai has always made it clear he does not want to see Pompey liquidated. We are sure he is genuine in his sentiment and I would urge him to work with us to ensure the club will stand the best chance of success in the future,' he added. Fans wanting to get involved with the PST bid can find out more information at http://www.communitypompey.co.uk "The Pompey Supporters' Trust is today [Friday] pushing ahead with its bid to buy Portsmouth Football Club, after the Football League announced it would only consider a bid from the trust." I think they have missed the key words there? Didn't the FL statement say 'it wouldn't currently consider'? More spin than a tumble dryer at 1600rpm. They still can't give accurate figures either, well over 3000 fans (nearly a whole home crowd then) and 'around' £2m. Makes me want to run to the bank draw out £1000 and throw it in the nearest bin.
  9. From one of the phew who is 'close' to the bid. They can even put spin on having to pay more for Fortress Fatpipes. You have to remember that the offer is to PKF, not Portpin directly. Why is this important? Well because what the Trust is offering is a fixed price but what Portpin receive as fair would have to be determined by the High Court. If the Judge says that £2m is a fair price for the ground then that gives PKF an additional £1m for their creditors after what Portpin have been paid for their charge over Fratton Park. Having some additional financial space would be useful in dealing with the litigious Portpin post a sale of PFC to PST.
  10. DW, in 2005 5 of us did Middlesbrough to Southampton and we did it in 5/6 days with an average of 70 miles a day. We started at the Riverside (Boro v Spuds game) and the club were great to us allowing us into the changing areas and then onto the pitch to meet Steve Mclaren (then Boro manager). We cycled out of the stadium and about 10 miles to hotel for the night. We then did stages to York (over the N York moors which was hard), then to Lincoln which was mainly flat but the cycle into Lincoln was tough as very hilly, then to Peterborough, then to Reading and the last leg into Southampton and finishing at St Marys. None of us were cyclists and all of us the wrong side of 40, we did training rides of up to 60 miles to prepare us but it does not really as you only do it once not day after day. I think it is a great idea but do think you are optimistic to try it in 3 days. We also had a van following us to help with the route etc and somewhere for all our kit, spare water bottles etc, have you thought of that? As others have said not wanting to put you off but it is a hard slog and I think we prepared for it over the space of about 5 months, you have a little over 3 to do it. Good luck.
  11. And they still have not learnt the new songs from their 'Atmosphere night' last week.
  12. My understanding is that IF they get taken over this season (yeah I know pigs might fly) they will get the -10 as per the FL's press release last year. If they don't get taken over then they will be chucked out of the league/liquidated as you can't start 2 seasons in a row in admin. IF they get taken over in the summer I assume the -10 will kick in next season
  13. Taken from the BBC site, surely Swindon Town cannot be demmed to be a better buy/investment than Pompey - surely not??? The biggest and bestest sleeping giant in English football still without a buyer after over a year of trying yet Swindon find one in a matter of weeks. Going to need some serious bandages for my ribs as they are starting to split from laughing. BBC Wiltshire are reporting that a local consortium - fronted by the owner of Banbury United Jed McCrory - are close to completing a deal to buy Swindon Town. It was revealed earlier this month that owner Andrew Black was putting the League One promotion chasers up for sale because he was no longer willing to invest. Worcestershire-based McCrory assumed control of Southern League outfit Banbury earlier this year.
  14. They seem to be questioning the attendence given at last nights game. About 25% of ST holders I know aren't bothering, let alone people who would have to pay They're still counted though I believe so its 8,000 odd STH, away fans and casual fans. Don't they have to count the number through the turnstiles for fire regulations? Yes but I'm not sure that's the same figure that's released. This must be the case as there is no way there were over 10,000 people there last night. I suspect they also counted people who bought tickets for the first game and didn't claim their money back or turn up. My thoughts entirely. Looked more like there were about 8.500 - 9,250.
  15. Would they sell Skate at the new Fratton Tesco or would that be to much like cannibalism?
  16. Also sounds like you could get a game... by emerging through the tunnel. There’s also a visit the changing rooms and the chance to go pitch side and sit in the dugouts
  17. Ah but the HNW's are fans, no honest they are.....
  18. @Pompeys12thMan: Point 9. Lots of clubs watching and thinking why are they still in business and offering ridiculous wages PST believe in transparency but can't answer any questions HNW's believe they are contributing to the £30m revenue stream the club generates for the city. Pompey fans believe it too, it's going to happen that the club will be so far down the football pyramid that Eastleigh, Havant, Totton and Gosport Borough will be considered as giants in the game compared to Pompey in 2 years time!
  19. Surely the BBC have got the match report wrong, it shows the result as Portsmouth 1 Hartlepool 3 with a crowd of 10,981. Surely there must be a one missing from the Portsmouth score and the crowd must have been 20,000. I mean the biggest bestest football team South of London surely would not lose at home to Hartlepool in front on only 10,000 fans right?? WTFILN
  20. Puerto Pollensa is great we went there several years ago when our kids were younger. We used http://www.sealandvillas.com and had a great villa with pool which was surrounded by grapevines so had fresh grapes on tap plus in the graden there was a lemon tree and pomegrante tree, overdosed on fresh fruit. Beach is huge and very safe, usual watersports available. The town of Puerto Pollensa is not full of high rise hotels so is quite quiet, that said there are still plenty of restaurants and bars etc. We had a car for the whole 2 weeks we were there so got out and about into the mountains and other beaches, overall a great place to go.
  21. Good chance to get some good training in where the weather will be better and gives the manager time to get to know the players and vice versa. We don't have a game until the 29th so no issues in doing this now.
  22. How the **** do think he putting the financial security of the club at risk by driving down deals? That truely beggars belief. Staying in the PL is not the be all and end all, I would happily go back to the Championship and maintain the financial stability we have than risk a skate scenario thank you very much. Yes it would be nice to stay in the PL and take advantage of the increased TV revenue but if we do go down then the finances will be safe and we can gain promotion again and possibly be in a stronger position 2nd time around. Given that we have taken 18 points from the last 12 games I would say the team is very much capable of getting the 18 from the next 16 that you demand! Oh and don't forget that 8 of the starting 11 against the current CL holders were playing Championship football last season so it is not all doom and gloom as you like to project.
  23. You were advocating 3 or 4 that IMO is a lot to bring in during January. But thanks for confirming with your "player wants too much money" that this is all about being tight-fisted. If NA is screaming at me that I need a certain player, and that an extra 15K per week is worth it oveer what I'd offered , I would do it. FFS it is not about being 'tight fisted' as you put it. I do not want NC putting the financial security of my football club at risk by agreeing to ridiculous transfer fees or wage demands. Using your mantra we would be doing just what the skates did, maybe that is what you want!!
  24. Bloody hell you really are a glass half empty person aren't you? What is there to say that the club has not identified the players needed, put in offers that have been rejected or the player wants too much money? You just don't know do you so to bang on about the lack of activity is just plain wrong. You can only have a 25 man squad in the PL so what do you suggest they do, go and buy everyone who is supposedly better than we have and waste money? Yes we lost the first few games against City, Utd and Arsenal who wouldn't have? We only played badly in one of those and would have beaten Utd if it was not for a £26m striker. See that is the sort of money you need to spend to guarantee wins at this level and that is money we do not have!! Also we had a great team spirit brought about by a winning team and good management so why go and upset with wholesale changes, look what happened at QPhahahaha when Hughes bought in 11 players in one go. That went really well didn't it? I know which position I would rather be atm. 'tardy penny pinching club like ours', OK I will bite - we spent circa £30m in the summer, one of the biggest spends in Europe FFS. You want to bring in 3 or 4 players, just who out of the current 25 would you get rid of in order to replace them with better?
  25. Oh dear they are at it again, trying to cover up all the empty seats - Bless!
