Looking down the list of potential grounds for RWC 2015, could not see the 60,000 seat Portsmouth Harbourdome on the list. Surely must be an error by the BBC?
-
The AMEX was always on the list of potential venues, the only late addition to the list was Sandy Park. Real shame SMS did not get the nod to host some of the games, would have been a great boost to have such a high profile tournament come to the city.

What a sad life you must lead.

Can't be talking about the skates here, since when did they get 20,000 in Fatpipes Park?

(From FACTLESS Allen of the Snooze) Pompey have pledged to attract more fans to the club through ‘affordable’ season-ticket prices. That is the promise from Mark Catlin as the new ownership prepares to deliver its packages for the 2013-14 campaign. The pricing has been established, although won’t be released for two weeks while everything is finalised. However, newly-appointed chief executive Catlin believes fans will approve as they seek to build on the existing 8,080 holders. He said: ‘We have got the prices ready and are in the process of getting the marketing campaign up and running and the structures in place. ‘I would think the prices are going to be announced in two weeks max. ‘We have obviously got to run it as a business, but we want football to be affordable to the public of Portsmouth. ‘A lot of emphasis is going to be on kids. ‘We think that is the way to go. We want to encourage the kids in and also we want to make it that if people want season tickets there are clever ways to pay where maybe they don’t have to pay everything in advance. ‘You can’t get Fratton Park packed out every week, but we want bums on seats, we want the Portsmouth public to support their local team. ‘Our budgets are based around certain income levels. ‘It is about how you arrive at that income, whether you have 8,000 at X money or 18,000 at X money, which is achievable. (Yeah, good luck with that one. Couldn't get 18,000 in the NpC what chance in L2? More deluded bo££ocks eminating from Fatpipes Park.)‘ That debate has been going on in the boardroom. ‘We don’t want empty seats so are looking at students, disadvantaged groups, children, whatever – we are going to do all we can to get people into the Park.’

Got to love this quote from Mcinnes "I'd like to think we can keep the character of the old stadium but provide it with a lot more modern facilities. This is the largest 20,000-seater stadium in the country and if you reshaped the seats you could add another two or three thousand." So other 20,000 seat stadiums only seat 15,000 then??? They are the 'bestest and biggest'TM

Strange that this appears on one of their websites. More creative accounting to dress it up as something it is not? The PST is on course for holding between 60-65% of Portsmouth Community Football Club (circ £2.5m shares bought). This would mean a capital injection of around £4m. New pledges are arriving in droves. Extraordinary stuff.

Just how deluded are these idiots. They have just been relegated to the 4 tier of English football, can't sell out a c21k ground and they want to make it bigger? facepalm thingy if I knew how to. Wolves expansion plans at Molineux I believe were originally in the region of £40m so where are these deluded fools proposing to get that sort of money from, the shareholders maybe???

Why persist with likes of Fox when we could blood youngsters?
Saint Lindford replied to captainchris's topic in The Saints
Clearly the OP was not at yesterdays game After his performance yesterday I 4-1 am happy to have him. Luke Shaw is obviously first choice but Fox is a good back up to have. -
No we only had -10 at the start of the League One season. The FL said that if we finished outside of the relegation spots then the -10 would be given, as we did not and were relegated then it came off at the start of the season.

Portsmouth: Iain McInnes says football supports Trust takeover The prospective chairman of Portsmouth believes 'football is on their side' The above quote from Champange Iain suggests that all of football is behind them, well maybe now he might like to reconsider that as Chesterfield CEO says that the points deduction must come off next season to be a proper punishment. So even before the season ends one of their prospective opponents in League 2 next season wants them deducted points at the start of next season.

Why do the insist on this diluted figure? Total debt that has been wiped out is circa £150m, that is the extent of the criminality that has gone one.

What a load of bo££ocks and usual stereotypical belief of rugby fans. I regularly go to watch England play rugby home and away and enjoy a good beer before, during and after the game. Happily sit with all fans at rugby, England v France in this years Six Nations sat next to an Irish fan (god knows why he was there) and had French fans behind us. Great banter and plenty of passion when your team scores and not a hint of trouble. Went to Croke Park Dublin for the last Ireland v England game there, sat in the stands amongst all the green shirted Irish fans with my England shirt on, not a hint of trouble. Don't you find it strange that rugby allows 85,000 people at Twickenham to take alcohol to their seats and watch the game yet at football if you want to take a bottle of water to your seat you are not allowed to have a lid on it!! The anti-social behaviour you speak about is more readily seen week in week out at football, see above images of Millwall 'fans' at Wembley yesterday, the reports of trouble at Waterloo station, and the few idiots at SMS as well yesterday. Drunken idiots at football ruining it yet again for the vast majority of fans. Did you hear the Wigan fan on 606 last night? He was almost in tears having been to Wembley with his daughter, she was scared stiff and does not want to go to football again because of what happened. How is that right? This sort of thing just does not happen at rugby. Lovely to hear the Leicester fan come on just after and offer to pay for the guys daughter's ticket to the Cup Final.

Oh there are lots (Hi Mesmo), they keep coming over here to see what is going on and learning about what is really happening with the totally cloudy PDT. The myths spouted by Factless Allen and others at the snooze ensure they have that warm fuzzy feeling as they plummet down the leagues. Just wait for the 'fantastic support' as they travel to Brentford on Saturday, they are even planning some ticker tape celebration - truely are small time!

The Few are asking the question What next? http://www.thepompeychimes.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=71103 Got to love this one! "That has to be a problem in this whole process doesn't it but we have to be a big fish in League 2 terms with our gates probably only Bradford could compete with our budget, but it works elsewhere aren't Barcelona a community club?" Wonder what budget that will be then? A shoestring?
-
The £3m quoted by the PDT is the combination of the paultry £1.4m raised by the bestest, most passionate, most loyal and noisiest fans in world football and the £1.6m put in by the HNW's at a guess.

Another one falls out of Luke Shaw's pocket...

Reading away ticket details - Sold Out
Saint Lindford replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Was a game I thought about going to until I saw the price Dreading were charging, totally ridiculous. -
Not sure where you are starting from but when we go (from Hindhead) we use A3/M25/A20/A102 following signs for Blackwell Tunnel. Parking is easy at the O2, use the station car park, think it is pay and display. Never had any problems getting in or out. There are quite a few places to eat and drink inside the O2 if you want as well.

Not been 'excited' about England for a long time now. The 'Golden Generation' of baby Bentleys, bling and Beckham did nothing at all except fill their bank accounts with appearance money. Rooney's outburst at WC 2010 was disgusting and showed how much out of touch these players really are. The fact that 'Team England' actually means Team Liverpool/Chelsea/Manure says it all really when there are clearly more in form players out there, many England managers have been too frighted to pick players from so called lesser teams and drop the likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Terry etc. Will it change with Hodgson? Very much doubt it which is a shame. On a selfish note I don't want the likes of Cork, Lallana and Lambert going off to England, much rather have them fit and hungry to play for Saints.

Oh dear, one of the Phew who went last night.... Well, what can I say? We were as good (well, as bad to be more accurate) as Orient. It shows that there is very little between an ailing club like ours and a top half team like them. Their fans were terrible - I know they play in outfits that kind of look like Arsenal, but no excuse for that crowd. We did put up a good fight though and at the end, you could see just how much the defeat meant to the team. I can't understand people's negativity on here about Ayemang; I though he played well. Kind of the Kanu role, hold the ball up and lay it off. Trouble is, we don't have a Crouch or Defoe to lay it off to nowadays! Until that terrible back pass that set up Orient's goal, we matched them and they never looked like scoring unless we made a mistake - which sadly we readily supplied. There isn't much quality in the team. Rocha at the back stands out - not too surprisingly. Ayemang looks good enough up front. The 12th man shone. We probably outnumbered the home fans. Three good chants on the night. One outside: a bunch of Pompey fans walking past the rather long queue "And now your gonna believe us, and now you're gonna believe us, and now you're gonna believe us, we're gonna join the queue". Inside to their tiny and amazingly quiet fans "Olympic Park, you're having a laugh...." - can you possibly imagine Orient getting the Olympic Stadium! And chant of the evening: Inside their stadium, each corner has a block of flats that have balconies overlooking the pitch: "We can see you, we can see you, we can see you washing up....!" Oh and back to the game. Not much really to report. Lots of huff and puff. Lots of passion. Not much quality. We probably outnumbered the home fans Good old Portsmyth maths in overdrive again, the crowd was 3,641 so they must have taken at least 1800 then...... ummmm

St Mary's not being used for RWC 2015
Saint Lindford replied to doubleonothing's topic in The Saints
Totally short sighted of most to argue that it would be a bad thing. How can it be a bad thing to have what is arguably the 3rd biggest world sporting event behind the Olympics and the Football World Cup? The profile it will give the city and our football club will be huge. If selected there would probably only be 3 or 4 games staged anyway so the arguement that the pitch would suffer is a red herring given that Dreading host London Irish every other week as did Watford, with Saracen's, until recently and Wycombe still do with Wasps.
