  1. Still trying to get into Europe. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/portsmouth/7640580/Portsmouth-to-take-Europa-League-fight-to-the-Court-of-Arbitration-for-Sport.html Beggers belief that Android seems to think that their interests have not been looked after. What about the interests of local businesses, schools and charities that have not been looked after by PCFC??
  2. Agree with JBS, he did OK when he came on. Kept it simple with some nice touches and seemed to be comfortable on the ball.
  3. The 5-5 draw was on 4th May 1982 - remember it well as it was the night news of HMS Sheffield being hit during the Falklands War came through.
  4. I was there that day, have not seen that clip for ages now - thanks. Also remember him scoring a hat-trick, along with Danny Wallace in the 8-2 win against Coventry. That evening he was at the IOW Saints Supporters Club dinner, had a good chat with him - very nice bloke.
  5. My pasty was this big.....
  6. Perfectly sane thank you very much. And 'little old Fulham' are bankrolled by Al Fayed(sp) and have had the benefit of PL money now for a long time. They have done exceptionally well and I don't knock them for it but they are the exception to the general rule. Now that Citeh are about to break into the top 4 monopoly and spuds and Villa are on the up the chances of a 'little old Fulham' doing it again are remote. By the time we reach the PL in say 5 years time the money in the PL will be extreme and we will not have had a slice of it for very nearly 10 years, that is a long way to catch up. To just stay in the PL will take in excess of £20m per year and for what, mere survival. To try and get to challenging for those coveted few European slots would take what? circa £60m a year. Pie in the sky figures I am afraid.
  7. The thing is do we really want to be in the PL in its current guise? What is the point of being in a league when you cannot win it or have no real hope of getting into Europe via league position? The only thing the majority of teams in the PL are fighting for is survival. IF we get there it will seriously test Mr Liebherr's bank account, does he have the necessary funds to a) get us there and b) keep us there?
  8. But has to be approved by the Football League. Can't see that they would vote for it meaning their member clubs will not be able to compete with the relegated clubs for longer. 4 years of parachute payments means that teams that come down can keep the PL structure for longer thus almost guaranteeing a return with 1 or 2 years to the PL.
  9. Excellent news. Thanks to all who generously donated, especially to the generous people going through turnstile D who had to put up with me shouting all the time. Voice is a bit ropey now. Keep smiling.
  10. Or maybe the 'so called' mystery funder does not have as much money to waste given that Lloyd was constantly saying SSN the other day that fans would have a chance to buy into the club as well. Desperately trying to raise more funds????
  11. I will be collecting at the Chapel End before the game so please give generously... Ta muchly.
  12. We would not be alone in that. Most clubs that go to Wembley will have 'fans' who will go just because it is a day out. Look at the blue few, can't fill their ground but will have 'fans' going to Wembley who won't have seen them yet this season. That is if they can sell all their tickets.....
  13. Was just about to post the same link which was on a Pompey messageboard.
  14. Making the play-off is one thing, you then have to win 2 more games to win promotion. Yes it would be nice to do it but the end of the world if we did not. It was always going to be hard to do it given the -10 and the slow start due to all the uncertainty through pre-season. If we can get close to the play-offs, with a Wembley appearance as well in the JPT it will have been a good season. We are under no pressure to sell anyone, team spirit is good so next season is the one for promotion. The 5-year plan was done on promotion next season anyway, the team will be under pressure to achieve this but it should be attainable.
  15. Ridiculous speculation.
  16. Storm in a tea cup I think. Interviewer just kept asking stupid questions and got what he deserved really.
  17. Never had a problem before so hope it will be the same on 28th
  18. I use West Ruislip when going to England games. Easy to park and only one stop to Wembley.
  19. Who's the owner this week?
  20. Is that because he realises his 10% is worth absolutely sweet FA.....
  21. Really do dislike the Irish git for his actions at SMS the day we were relegated from the PL. Hope we can put one over him in the Cup.
  22. I reckon end of the season after relegation....
  23. Block 20 is OK, 'tis where I sit.
  24. Quote from todays Telegraph:- At one point Lampard had, after being goaded by the visiting fans, turned to, in good spirit, count their meagre number. Blue few indeed
