  1. Sad generalisation there. There are many ST holders around me who have been there since the stadium was opened, of course as we do not 'stand' in the Northam then we are not uber fans who 'get it'.
  2. Hope you had a good flight home, nice to talk to you during the game.
  3. First penalty was NOT a penalty, it was a good 2/3 yds out of the box. Second one was nailed. So glad Taricco got sent off, just would not shut up all game and constantly trying to get Saints players booked. Can't wait to hear Poyet's whinging at this one.
  4. Excellent, he has been outstanding for us so far. Listening to his recent interview he wants to stay as he is playing regularly and that is what he wants. Good move all round. Bring in a striker as cover for Lambert and that will grease the wheels nicely. All aboard!!
  5. Well it is Voldermort then. http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/LatestNews/news/Appleton-Takes-Charge-2788.aspx Blues chief executive David Lampitt said: “We are delighted to welcome Michael as our new first-team manager. He fought off very strong opposition to get the job from a high quality field of candidates. OR He was the cheap option! “As a board, we laid down a set of criteria that we were looking for in the new manager and we have not diverted from that. It’s fair to say Michael started out as a bit of a dark horse in the selection process but he ended up the unanimous choice." Or We were desperate as no-one else wanted the job! Appleton said “A few years ago Portsmouth were a successful Premier League club". No they weren't Michael, they just cheated and the only success they had in PL history is to be the first team to into administration.
  6. Plus another 20 or so in the corporate boxes.
  7. On today's viewing a definite NO! We can and should do a lot better than him.
  8. Another deluded fool. Coppell as DOF, Appleton the Manager? Could this be the dream ticket that we have been looking for, IMO if Coppell called for the appointment of Appleton then It sounds like it would work really well. Out of all the scenarios we have heard this would get my juices going and hopefully will be a winning combination. The partnership gives Coppell someone to lean on for support and MA gets experience and advice, Premiership here we come if true! CSI what geniuses you are.
  9. 10 mins hard clicking, DC now back on top..... :-)
  10. DC now 2nd in the vote.
  11. DC now on 51% Leven 33%
  12. Exactly. I mean Derby only had 24,000 at their game today. The Bestest Fans in the World surely would have taken 5,000 at least to that game so just goes to show where the true support is!!
  13. Saints played Sheff Wednesday in an FA Cup quarter final in the mid 80's and despite 4,000 Wednesdayites they got 17,000 in. The other day they got 32,000 for a Championship match. Will that be the same FA Cup quarter final we won 5-1 with a crowd of 20,000+ with thousands of away tickets unsold? Never were good with numbers the skates.
  14. With the media's drooling over everything Premiership or Champions League then the nPc is not going to get much coverage is it? That said the Telegraph ran with this http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/southampton/8841618/Who-needs-Jose-Mourinho-Nigel-Adkins-will-not-rest-until-Saints-march-back-to-the-top.html BBC with these http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/15387077.stm and this http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2011/09/the_adkins_diet_gets_saints_in.html. So all in all reasonable coverage
  15. Classic quote from one of their highly paid mercenaries...... "The stadium wasn’t quite full against Barnsley". PMSL http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/great-matches/halford_out_for_revenge_victory_in_donny_clash_1_3172787
  16. 1. No it is a red card offence as was made clear to all unions in 2009 and again in December last year. Ticked every box the referee has to consider. - Tackled player lifted from the ground; Check - Legs still in the air; Check - Tackled player dropped by the tackler; Check - Landed on his head or upper body; Check 2. Because the technology is there and is utilised - shame that football does not embrace it. Rolland is one of the best in the world and is often used in games with France as he is fluent in the language.
  17. Well they were wrong to comment as they did. The referee was absolutely correct in the red card and if the so called experts had read the IRB memorandum produced in 2009 they would have known. The following is a extract of the pertient facts. 1. The player is lifted and then forced or “speared” into the ground. A red card should be issued for this type of tackle. 2. The lifted player is dropped to the ground from a height with no regard to the player’s safety. A red card should be issued for this type of tackle. Warburton fell into the latter point as he let go of the player. Hope this helps.
  18. It easily meets the requirements. Only 2 stadiums used for RWC 2011, Auckland and Wellington, have a capacity bigger than SMS. Of the other 11 that have been used 4 have a capacity of below 20,000.
  19. Trust me there were empty seats in rows AA, BB and CC in block 20. See above. Valid point but why are they then included in the 'attendance'. Surely the very meaning of the word means you are there, if not then you did not attend and should not be counted. All very pedantic I know.
  20. Trouble is though I doubt there were actually 32,152 in the ground as there were quite a few empty seats near us as STH that I know did not go for one reason or another and other seats that just were not sold.
  21. Another direct comparison coming up as well, Oct 29th Derby v Portsmouth. We took 2700, what do we reckon will be their number, I'll go for 500?
  22. Yup, all good points, but add a lull with SC going (whatever was thought of him), and then knock-off a good 3-4,000 for it being on Sky, and another 1-2,000 for it being Barnsley. String some wins together, and on a normal (i.e. not Sky or afternoon/evening k.o.), not against one of the 3 least attractive teams, and should hit 17/18k. It *is* a low attendence, but all the factors are there. This from one of their boards. So as long as they are not on Sky, it is not an afternoon/evening KO (when would they kick off then?) and they are not playing one of the 3 least attractive teams they could get 17/18k. They have only got close to 17k once this season and that was the first home game which was a local derby against Brighton with a full away section.
