  1. It came up because an MP is trying to get a law passed to ban it and some posters on here seem hellbent on defending the practice.
  2. Labour still 'going for growth' with the economy shrinking once again.
  3. Hi soggy I ignore for a moment that you've again ignored my question despite hammering nutty Nic for days on end because he wouldn't answer yours. Have you got any examples from anyone born in the last 100 years? Ideally in the last thirty would be better when morals were more closely aligned with those of today. The thing is all the examples you've cited lived when child labour was still legal and it was fine to send them out to work but presumably you wouldn't consider that fine nowadays.
  4. Ironic that he spent all of last week digging out nutty nick for refusing to answer his questions...
  5. Whereas absutely no one is a fan of anything you say and you're also a lying narcissistic scumbag. Must sting.
  6. That makes perfect sense because I love black people and Jews.
  7. You didn't answer the question. Do you support sibling sex? If not why not?
  8. Hi soggy great to hear from you. Are you supportive of siblings shagging? If not why not?
  9. All of them do because they perpetuate a culture where it is acceptable. Why do we ban marriages between siblings or between a parent and a child? Given that cousin sex is a growing problem in the UK and that someone has proposed a law which will decrease the level of birth defects and disabled children born, is this something you would support in principle, even if you don't think it's prevelant enough to worry about?
  10. Again, why does that matter? Lots of things have not been widely held views historically but it doesn't make something less wrong. It's not something we have had to confront in the past because the numbers engaging in the practice have been so tiny. That is now no longer the case.
  11. Holden said that while the overall prevalence of first-cousin marriage was low in Western countries, certain diaspora communities, such as Irish travellers and British Pakistanis, had "extremely high rates" of 20-40%. The MP for Basildon and Billericay cited research suggesting the child of first cousins carries around double the risk of inheriting a serious disorder compared to the child or unrelated people. Holden also argued the practice threatened women's freedom. "Women and girls living under a clan mentality often know the scientific risks of first-cousin marriage, but make considered social and cultural calculations," he told MPs. So we could have up to 2 million British Pakistanis in the UK. So that's potentially children from as high as a million couples by some estimates. Even half that number is a huge amount of people. Surely we should be seeking to make this practice socially unacceptable and doing whatever we can reasonably do to lower the risks of birth defects as well as the added strain on the health service.
  12. I'm worried about the increasing negative impact it is having as more and more individuals in the UK are marrying their first cousins and the potential for problems that can cause. It's not about my happy marriage to someone who isn't a blood relative.
  13. Would you extend that thinking to siblings? Or mothers and sons? It's the same logic surely. If a brother and a sister fall in love and want to get married then it's up to them?
  14. Right. Doesn't change anything though it should still be banned obviously. Any reasonable action you can take to stop people marrying their fist cousins is a positive surely?
  15. Indeed it shouldn't need a law to stop it but it's happening at an increasing rate and is becoming more of a problem so a law would be a sensible thing yes?
  16. I would have thought if we are unable to agree on much, we would at least be able to agree unanimously that fucking your cousin in 2024 is not something anyone should be doing and that a law prohibiting it will have an effect in reducing the practice which is unambiguously a positive thing. Instead some have said it's not a big issue, that Queen Victoria and Jews do it, that it's not illegal in some other countries so it's not that bad and that we should instead consider genetic testing to allow the cousin fucking to continue.
  17. Let's be honest, if it were the same issue but involving a majority from any other group, no one obfuscating or refusing to give their opinion on a ban would be doing so. It fries some people's brain. Aintforever has called the practice fucking weird - it's actually more than that given the much higher risk of congenital diseases - so then what's the argument for not banning it immediately?
  18. What's the argument against banning it?
  19. How does that make it better? The problem in this country is primarily from Africa and predominantly the Pakistani Community where first cousin marriage is absurdly high.
  20. It's a problem for those children born with severe disabilities and a problem for the national health service that now has to deal with these people that didn't exist previously. Of course it's a problem and it's getting bigger and more significant all the time.
  21. It hasn't been an issue until we have seen a big rise in it in recent years. It was basically unheard of a few decades ago now it is a growing problem.
  22. Woke people are the most racist of all so you're just wrong again. And yes, the morals of the victorians from generations ago is markedly different from today. What relevance does Victoria marrying her cousin have with someone objecting to it being banned today? Of course it should be banned. The practice is uncommon in the UK for a good reason.
  23. I just listened to the argument of the MP urging the house not to oppose the marriage of cousins. He seems to be saying that we should instead be introducing genetic testing for cousins who want to fuck each other before they have kids. That's batshit insane...
  24. I imagine he'd bring Islam into it for this reason. I wonder if you can see a correlation?
