Said it before and I'll say it again... How can the board think that this is progress? Puel is one of the most uninspiring managers we've ever had. Boring!

Sam Gallagher - Joins Blackburn: Official

Watched him against Preston on Saturday and thought he looked average. Needs more time at that level. Certainly not ready for life in the Premiership just yet. -
Worst performance so far (under Puel)
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd replied to Heisenberg's topic in The Saints
I can't think of 1 truly great performance. He's turned us into something average. How Reed and co. can call this progression is completely beyond me. -
Wasn't impressed with Puel's appointment and have only seen one or two performances all season where I thought he could be on to something. The way we've exited this competition is very poor. Losing to the likes of Hull & Palace in the way that we did causes further concern. To think that there were people saying that the 3-0 defeat at the weekend was because of the importance of tonight's game, and then they put in a performance like that! Best I can see at the weekend is a point. A defeat would just confirm my feeling that Puel & Black have to go, sooner rather than later. Yes, you can say that the board have sold all the talent but we still have some very creative players. The problem is that Puel doesn't seem to be able to get them to create. He's turned us into something boring and horrible to watch.

Crystal Palace 3 Saints 0 - Meltdown Thread
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Not ****ing good enough! WTF is Redmond all about? Typical winger I suppose. One great game in five or six. He's certainly not the next Henry. Can't wait for Tadic to return. -

Red Bull after an English club

According to a press leak, It's MK Dons and they want Ryan Giggs as manager. -
International break... I wonder who we'll lose in this one? Liverpool & Everton next. After Chelsea & Hull that'll make it 4 league defeats on the trot and see us hovering dangerously above the relegation zone.
-
Yep!

Yep. Can't see us getting anything against Everton either.

To be fair, I don't think anyone saw that coming after the first half performance. However, I'm sure 'Always SFC' saw it as she knows everything.

Amazing turnaround. Wasn't convinced by the team selection at all. Didn't look like our strongest 11 given that it was a game that we really needed to go out and win. Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time certainly did the trick. Superb stuff. Oh, and in response to ALWAYS SFC's comment on a now closed thread... I'm well aware of squad rotation and I'm entitled to my opinion that we didn't start our strongest 11 tonight. Chuffed to bits with the second half performance, however, criticising me for the timing of my post is a bit unfair when I was in work and didn't have access to the forum. Still, you always know best don't you?

Saints v Inter Milan Match Thread
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd replied to Edmonton Saint's topic in The Saints
Got to be honest. I took one look at the team selection and thought, that doesn't look like our strongest team going out for a win. More like a team playing Championship opposition in the League Cup. -
He'll go to Everton. Possibly Spurs but I'd have a few quid on him ending up at Everton.

Why we don't play Charlie Austin every game....

Yes, and if he gets injured we're absolutely ****ed! -
Just compared the results from the first 7 fixtures against the same 7 fixtures last season. We're two points worse off from the same games. Not too shabby. Watford (H) L/Y Won 2-0 T/Y Drew 1-1 Man Utd (A) L/Y Won 0-1 T/Y Lost 2-0 Sunderland (H) L/Y Drew 1-1 T/Y Drew 1-1 Arsenal (A) L/Y Drew 0-0 T/Y Lost 2-1 Swansea (H) L/Y Won 3-1 T/Y Won 1-0 West Ham (A) L/Y Lost 2-1 T/Y Won 0-3 Leicester (A) L/Y Lost 1-0 T/Y Drew 0-0 L/Y T/Y 11Pts 9Pts

Excellent result and a good string of results. However, I'm not going to get carried away about Puel. Let's see where we are in February.

I'm here. Sorry for the delay. I had to change my clothes and the bed sheets. Didn't expect that result at all. -
Niall Quinn on the 'Southampton way'
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd replied to Disco Stu's topic in The Saints
The only thing I can see that's wrong with it is that it's all been said before. To think that Niall Quinn has actually been paid for this. It's basically like copying somebody else's homework. -
He looks like the only one of our strikers who can score goals yet we've got a manager who is talking about dropping him when we desperately need a win. If something is working then why the **** does he want to change it? Muppet!
-
Apologies if that has been asked before, I couldn't see another thread. Is the Europa League replica kit with the plain red back going to be made available to buy?
-
Not watched a Prem game this season. Been watching non-league Olney Town on a Saturday afternoon and found the whole experience far more enjoyable. Players like Hamann and Scholes are spot on with their recent comments about the premier league. Just because it has the highest paid players it doesn't make it the best league in the world. Where's the enjoyment in watching your team start to look like something special and then have the board pull the rug from underneath them by constantly selling players. I thought the idea was to push on and move forward? All I see is one step forward, Two steps back. Football has just become a business. The clubs don't give a **** about the fans. Disillusioned? Absolutely!
-
Pretty much sums things up. I'm of the opinion that if we're 10 games in with only 1 win then we need to act fast and get rid of Puel. Sadly, I could see the club persisting for 3/4 of the season and then making a change with 10 games to go in an attempt to avoid relegation. Better to act quickly than let it drag on.
-
Spot on! I wasn't happy with the appointment of Puel and I've seen absolutely nothing that would change my opinion. I cringed when Eddie Howe was linked with the job but on reflection I honestly believe he'd have been a better appointment. At least he seems to be able to motivate players and he actually understands the English game. If the appointment of Puel wasn't disappointing enough, we then employed Eric Black! Any way, enough of that... Out of interest, what do people think about the point at which the club say that enough is enough? If we're 10 games in with 8-10 points and bottom of the group in the EL, what do they do? Act fast and try and salvage something from the season or persist and hope that he comes good?
