  1. The only one close to this was "Flight of the Phoenix" with James Stewart and Richard Attenborough, they done a remake of this about ten years ago.
  2. Sorry if this has already been posted, just read that we are linked with Jack Rodwell in the Daily Mail, does appear that we are being linked with some quality players at the moment, just hope some come to fruition.
  3. Excellent suggestion
  4. Have to agree with this post, the obscenity of huge wages is destroying the game with the top six clubs enjoying the benefits, whilst the rest of us just settle for premiership status, time to take a stand.
  5. In addition it would take extremely large attachments to lie, knowing that within a very short time it would come back and bite him, probably in those attachments.
  6. I may be wrong, but I think Van-Nistory (sorry about spelling) may have been, did he not do this just before signing for Man U.
  7. Not quite that, but certainly feel that way about the premiership
  8. Exactly, if anyone is to blame it is the premier league its self, in addition the fair play or so called fair play works against us simply because it is based on percentages and will therefore mean that any of the top seven will always be in an ever growing position to take our best players. Demonstrations are not always the best way, however, those who demonstrated against poll tax were pretty successful, I have suggested on another post that a walk out at half time would have much greater affect, simply because it would be highlighted on television and my hope would be to unite other fans from other clubs outside the top seven; I did write to the premier league yesterday and got an immediate response today from there supporters arm, much to my surprise, however, I do believe the amount of first team players we have lost must have beaten any previous records and is down to money and money alone, the C.L. is a bunch of cxxp, what the bottom line is that the top seven are building higher and greater walls against any club making natural progress into this elite club, unless of course you are another Man City and very smart on how the money is spent or made, I will respond to the e-mail I received and if any of you have any constructive comments for me to forward on then of course I would be happy to do so; but I am of the firm belief that this is the way forward, but again if any of you disagree I will listen of course, but this is the time to unite for our club not to come on here with sarcastic remarks.
  9. Barcelona is absolutely right, the club has now power or influence over these players moving on, the contract between player and club only secures a fee to the club, end of, period. it is the whole system that is wrong, the top seven clubs can and will always be able to out spend the rest of the premiere league, to add insult to injury the so called fair play system goes a long way to making it worse, because it is based on percentages; Southampton as a club brought on its academy players plus a few brought in players and had a great season, because of that success we are now being torn apart by the top seven, why, because they can, I believe there has been a serious amount of tapping up, in addition I also believe certain newspapers also have a hand in the this. So we can go on and on moaning about our club, or perhaps we do something about it and getour voices heard, personally I do not believe enough of us will have the attachments to pursue this, however, I could be wrong, but and I may be wrong I do not believe there is a supporters association or union type organisation, perhaps it is omething to think about, because if you really look at the premier league it is only a competition for 7 clubs maximum, with the reality being four. that means the rest of this league is frankly excluded, we are only there to make up the numbers, the fair play scheme is at best a joke and will never work in its present form. So what can we do, well we could protest against the current cheque book competition we currently have, because that is all it is, face it Man City have won nothing, they have purchased it all, IF you feel something can be done then lets discuss it here, one thing I would like to do and it would be a peice of cake to get the media attention we would need to get the powers to be to talk about this issue is a walk out, by this I mean at our first home game we all walk out at half time, leaving the stadium almost empty, the club would not lose revenue, although the players no doubt in honesty could be affected, however, sometimes you have to take a step back before you take two forward, this then may spur on supporters from other clubs outside of the magnificent seven to join us. Or we could totally ignore this and go from season to season moaning about the good players we have to sell, with the added grief of re-building a team, with of course the increased risk of relegation and we all know about that, I look forward to your replies, no doubt some of which will of course be doragoraty.
  10. The first time I saw him play left back was against Villa at home in our first season back in the premiership, he did very well and scored from a lovely pass from Gaston.
  11. who was it that quoted the following,"their are statistics, statistics and god damn lies"
  12. Excellent Olallana, thank you, it just went through my mind that these two could have been at war a few years ago, and, wondering what was going through that Tadic mind!
  13. If you go to the Southampton web site you will find what I though was a great photo, if I am correct it shows what I think is Tadic running with Lovren, Tadic with a huge grin, if there was ever a good photo for a caption competition it has to be this one, it just needs someone with much better IT skills than me to post it.
  14. Cannot make my mind up, but I would say number 3 or 4, it will be a struggle even with R.K. at the helm, too many players have gone and I reckon Morgan and Lovren are not far behind, so a total of 5 first choice players will have left, half the outfied team; sorry but that is a massive hole to fill with what appears to be players with no premiership experince, very sad but you cannot avoid facts.
  15. Stay away from redheads, they are not gingery, but they are all very sticky, do not like red heads, if I had my way I would make the shaving of all pussy compulsory anyway.
  16. Player power and big club cheque books rule the game, there contract is there to protect the club, but once the vultures from the top seven circle those players will go and you can take that to the bank; nothing the board or anyone else can do, all the club can do is play hardball and obtain the best deal they can, I agree totaly with you demoralizing beyond belief, but that is how the premiership is structured so the fat cats get fatter. Frankly I would like to see the whole thing re-structured as it is now it will kill the game, football is already dying at grass roots level thanks to x-box and playstation, foreign players in the premiership has all but demolished our international side as recently shown; the overiding factor and bottom line can be summed up in one word. "GREED"
  17. Excellent Post Professor and agree with everything you have written, enough is enough and would love to be able in some way to unite fans from the bottom 10 of the premiership and the whole of the champion ship as a start, changes are required, would love to hear what other fans have to say, personally I would like the top six-seven teams from the premiership to Fxxk off with the same number from the Spanish, Italian and other top european leagues and form there own Euorpean Super League.
  18. I have to agree with Fitzhugh, the premiership hailed to be the best in the world only serves the top clubs in reality, sure Saints make a lot of money for just being there, but the big clubs financial muscle is now that great we will always be a feeder club, I don't like the fact that money talks but that is the name of the game now, personally I long for the days of clough when he got Forest promoted and won Div one in his first season (did I get that right?), the excitment that brought with them challenging the might of Liverpool, how dare they, to a lesser point I feel thats how Saints are looked at by the bigger clubs, we have an academy second to none, we showed how we could compete with the best in our second season back in the premiership, to that end I also think that is resented by the big clubs and certainly by the media and T.V. Pundits.
  19. well you right, however, very, very limited and there are problems, one of them being that there is so little heat generated that ice can form on the lens covers diminshing the amount light being beamed onto the road, and as I said you need quite a cluster of L.E.D.'s to match a xeon or even better metal hallide, it will happen, but it is going to be a couple of years before we see them in great numbers, therefore as stated in my post there must be a greater number of the L.E.D's around the stadium to match the light we have now.
  20. Absolutely right, if Liverpool keep him then when we play them at St Marys the club should free issue those joke shop false teeth to all saints fans, the ones that you wind up and go up and down in a biting action, just to wind the little sxxt up.
  21. Have to feel sorry for him really, after all when your top set front teeth resemble the front bucket on a J.C.B, then the urge to sink them into something must be huge.
  22. I would have thought that to match or even surpass Metal Halide lighting then there will be a lot more L.E.D. lamps to match the output, or of course L.E.D. lighting technology has moved on a great deal, suffice to say that although I am seeing L.E.D. front side lights and rear lights are cars I do not believe there is a L.E.D. headlight out there yet.
  23. Second that
  24. What is it with Liverpool, they take Lambert which I do not begrudge him, now they are after Lallana and Lovren at the lowest price they feel they can get away with, which shows no respect to SFC, they also want Southamptons traditional cruise ship business and if you ever park your car in Liverpool long enough you may get lucky and just have the wheels stolen. Whats next a change of name to the Liverpool Saints, there ****ing arrogance is mind numbing, I did see on bbc today that Lallana is looking forward to meeting with the new manager, maybe there is hope; as for Liverpool, "go forth and multiply"
  25. None of us knew anything about MOPO before he joined, when he did their were large gasps of "WHO", look at what he achieved, now we have someone coming in with the right credentials and although the C.V. reads better will he be any better? Only time will tell, as most have said come Christmas we will all have a good idea.
