Fuxk me they need to buy a new keeper
-
yeah i was just pulling your leg really. I Thought its was fairly decent subject to us signing a striker which obviously never happened and was one of two major fuck ups. The 2nd being selling OR when we knew Lavia was injured. My biggest disappointment was Aribo, although the lack of other clubs interested in him at a bargain price of £6-8m or always raised a red flag to me. Lets hope we get it right this January.
-
I tend to agree but cant help smile at the irony of you rating our last transfer window as an 8/10
-
Totally agree. And as bad a Lyanco has been at times to suggest that he wouldn't get in his Havant side is ridiculous and takes away any credibility from this interview in my opinion. DCC was truly woeful and kind of justifies why he was playing Lyanco. On a positive note for Lyanco, I would suggest it looks like he is one of the few that actually gives a shit right now.

Saw a tweet from Zagreb fan saying that in a 352 he would play left of the front 2 and has been an effective threat. Also mentioned that if he played as the LWB he would be very in effective.
-
Imagine the melt down if we signed a forward for £22m who had scored only 2 goals in 12 appearances. Shares in proctor & gamble would take shift upwards with Nappy sales flying.
-
Exactly, surely everyone understands that every club will be aware of every player available and either this player is already on thier short list of targets or not. Ultimately its down to the club to convince them that their club is the right move for them. this would be a combination of wages and their feeling of the clubs potential and how they fit in to the plans. I seem to remember a number of comments from previous players that had signed for NJ that he created detailed bespoke presentations of how he wanted the player to fit into his plans that swung them to choosing Luton over better financial offers. Maybe we will start to see some of the skills that he has benefit our transfer plans.?

This post sums up the weak minded millennials. Apologies if you aren’t about 15 but you should stop acting like one. The older generation appreciate what is needed to get out of this hole. Back in the day it wasn’t considered a relegation battle until there were circa 10 ganes to go. For what its worth i fancy us to win against Forest.
-
Bloody hell. Im sat on the train hone from the game reading the bollocks on here wondering if i had watched a different game. comments above pretty much mirror my thoughts. The team certainly had some fight as well and clearly havent given up on the manager like most if the fans. the fact is we need 2/3 new players and if they come in quick enough we have a chance. Endozie had a decent game but was done and fortunately we hd no options on the be ch to replace him. certainly less farting around at the back draining the tempo out if the game. unlucky not to get a point and hopefully not too disheartened.

Dry your eyes, mate. I know it's hard to take but her mind has been made up ! 3 points off safety with 20+ games to go.

Where did I say it was easy? it’s clearly not. I agree with your sentiments about struggling to establish, attract players etc. but here’s the thing, I never said I wanted us to go down I’m merely pointing out this clubs current state is rotten and needs to be built back from the bottom up (and ideally staying up) I moved on to point out the positive sides of our club should NJ fail to rebuild quick enough to stop us getting relegated. So the question is, do I think the best option right now is to stick with NJ and his long term vision or do we fire him now and replace e him with someone else. Personally I’m happy to let this play out for better or worse but it’s nothing to do with your assumption that I have some warped logic that it’s better that we go down first. I’m do however think if the worst case happens and we go down that we will be in a good place to come back quickly. happy to debate any reasons why we will be down there for years as some Fannie’s think.
-
There are some right old wet Fannie’s on this board. NJ wasn’t my first or even 5th choice there is a deep rot set into this club and it’s going to take time to change. Is he capable, who knows but I’m prepared to wait and find out. Should we go down there are plenty of positives around to build on. We may lose a couple of players but their is a spine there plus some promising academy players and financial backing. As a betting man I could see a swift return by building a team with more heart and fight than we currently see. Tella, Adams and Armstrong up front would have more than enough goals to mount a challenge. Long term I’m not worried, short term who knows?
-
Absolutely nothing. I’ve also seen absolutely nothing from this squad (bar lavia) in the last 12 months to suggest that we have the squad to keep us up. The only thing I can see is he has built sides that have heart and spirit and I’m happy to see given a little time if he can do that here. If we go down before he has managed that then so be it. I’ve watched saints for 40+ years and the time watching from the moment Koeman left has been the most dull / boring experience I can remember. I’ve watched enough of that soulless bile to last a lifetime. a promotion challenge would be a damn sight more entertaining than this. I understand 99% won’t agree and want to blindly hope we can continue scraping by each year. FFS it’s got so low at SMS noone really got that upset when we conceded 2 easy goals yesterday. The biggest negative about NJ that I can see is that it looks like the senior players haven’t bought into him either. That 2 me says more about them than him when they should be fighting until they drop. For example ABK has come back after epwearing a Germany shirt and it looks like he now thinks he is too good for us. The whiff of arrogance in the club stinks. yet again I dont expect many to agree but for my own personal interest I’m happy to see us drop to witness whether we can rebuild. That seems far more interesting than clinging on like we have for the past 5 years.
-
This squad of players are / were completely devoid of confidence long before NJ got here. My feeling is some of the players haven’t bought into him and maybe never will. The squad isn’t good enough to stay up and unless money is spent then we are down regardless of who is in charge. the club is rotten to the core and needs a complete overhaul. I’m bored of the last 5 years watching shyte football and barely winning and zero spirit in the team. IM happy to let the current management team continue and give them time to build a team with some spririt & heart. We will likely go down in the short term but as long as there are signs of something new being built I can live with it. How mad must I be, probably the only saints fan who wants him to stay 😂
-
My view is that if we continue to push the 3 at the back tactics then we are as good as relegated with the current squad. if he goes with a 4 then i hold out hope that he has enough to get us out of trouble. I guarantee if he persists with a 3 and we lose our next 2 home games the supporters will turn on him and the team really quickly.
-
interesting really. I didn't see the Lincoln game but went to Palace away. In CM he looked miles better than anything else we had available so am a little surprised the reports i read after this game.
-
I can 100% answer that I would prefer to be where we are after 15 odd games of the season with a have decent side and the chance (and money ) to sign a badly needed striker in January.
-
It would be more of a buy now don’t pay later type deal for Pompey
-
Incorrect. They made 3, they let Romeo go 12 hours after Lavia injured himself for the best part of 3 months.
-
Do you want Nathan Jones to Manage Southampton Football Club?
wild-saint replied to Rivers's topic in The Saints
My initial thoughts were FFS we will be relegated for sure. Spoken to a few friends that are long term Luton fans (from a time i worked there many years ago). They have nothing but great words about NJ and seems to be exactly the type of manager we need. I am little happier now but still slightly underwhelmed but will support him to the hilt until I can bear no more or slag him off when as a success pisses off to somewhere better. -
SR are chumps. Wasted 75million on players not good enough to start in the prem, let Romeo go when we lose the best player we did sign after he got injured for 2 months and failed to sign a number 9 &10 which we were fucking crying out for. as stale as it is under Ralph they have a lot to answer for.
-
If we spend £30 odd million on a new striker in January and he misses as many decent opportunities as Che has missed so far this season then we deserve to get relegated. How can anyone be as bad as Che has been this season as finishing chances? I’d sacrifice a bunch of Che’s great ball holding and strength for hitting the fucking back of the net once in a while to be honest.
-
CHe Adams is fucking shyte. The only other team in the premier league he would start for is Wolves as they have even less options up front than us. Ralph H is so fucking negative it make Gareth Southgate looking adventurous. What was the point on spending all our cash on young players If the manager thinks none are good enough to start. does anyone really expect us to sign a number 9 & 10 in January. We will probably get someone in at the end of January after fucking about for the whole month.
-
10 months In and they have paralysed with fear after largely wasting 75m on a pile of shyte. Top 5 mistakes in my opinion - 1. Not changing manager in the summer. 2. Not signing a striker good enough to score goals in the premier league. 3. Ditto number 10 to create enough. 4. Spending all the cash on young players that may be good enough in 2/3 years time. 5. Selling Romeo whilst our only other decent midfield player sits with a doc telling him he can’t play until after the fucking World Cup. And people have the nerve to criticise the previous owners. This new lot communicate about as well as the last lot. The only thing they have achieved is pissing off the home support by closing down sections of seats for standing up to take a piss during the game.

Id bring Edozie in for Aribo. Despite Aribo being one of the few players that can score in our side, his all round play is a bit shyte in my opinion. I cant make up my mind if he is lazy or just doesn't understand what is required from him without the ball. Seems to ball watch and fail to track his man and a liability away from home. He seems a bit of a luxury player in a side that needs to do the basics better and it surprises me not that no other Prem club was in for a player that was available for about £8m. On the other side of the coin he can be a match winner but 1 game in 5 or 6 isnt enough when he offers little in the other games. On a positive note I guess this post will guarantee a winning goal from Aribo against then cherries.
