  1. Is that a silhouette? I thought it was a stray turtle...
  2. I enjoyed the football, and admired some of the England play. I also admired the way that the Norway team managed to 'repair' things a bit in the second half. It can't have been easy, after being 6 - 0 down at half-time, but it was good to see a bit of pride on display. My real complaint though, was the verbal diarrhea from the main commentator. My God, could she talk?! Nothing to do with being female - I've heard enough crap from male commentators, after all - but she took the biscuit for a sheer compulsion to keep on talking, even when she had nothing to say.
  3. Earlier on, I clicked 'like' on Dman's post. It was a mistake. Apologies. I was looking for the 'What a load of twaddle' button.
  4. I think he'll be alright. I expect the people responsible for recruiting him have some idea of what they're doing, and if not, there are plenty of experts on Saintsweb forum he could call on...
  5. Champions League Tottenham Hotspur, with their free-scoring forward line, and serial-winner manager Conti versus struggling Southampton, managed by twice-record-defeat Hassenhuttl and a team of wet-behind-the-ears youngsters... Mmm... 0-0 for me!
  6. But how would that work? When both home and away kits were announced, there was a flurry of people saying they liked them, followed within a day or so of the majority calling them 'shit'. Why not just buy one of the kits you like, and don't buy the ones you don't.
  7. Can I just say that I am amazed by the amount of correspondence on this topic? I guess we're not all the same. Thankfully.
  8. Totally agree. I watched the whole McMenemy reign closely, and would perhaps put Bally above Case, even, but won't quibble. And there were so many other great players that Lawrie Mac got a tune out of, despite their advancing years. However, I do think that times have changed, and with the rise in earning power of the players and agents now, it may not be quite so simple to replicate those methods. On Romeo, I'm a fan, but in my opinion he really dipped in form towards the end of last season, and Saints performances really reflected that fact, showing just what an influence he is on the team.
  9. I am confident about the new season, but then I am naturally an optimist. I don't know if we'll sign 'a decent striker', but I do like the way that the club have gone about the opening moves in the transfer market. I expect more moves. I also do not share the general dislike of the Hassenhutl reign. I agree with those who suggest he has done a pretty good job with the tools at his disposal, and I have watched some cracking performances from his teams, despite the lousy end to last season.
  10. Have you ever...?

    Bad Wolf. HTH.
  12. It's a 7 for me. Nobody tells me I can't use a 7.
  13. Many moons ago, when I was a centre forward, (as strikers were called then) I was always taught that it was the wingers job to get the ball into the right area, and mine to make the move to the right place...
  14. Yes. Possibly. Probably not. Again, possibly,
  15. I don't dislike him as much as many on here are saying. I see a footballer there, and many positive moves from him, and as someone above suggested, he is clearly often doing a good job of following the manager's instructions.
  16. The Welsh Alex McCarthy?
  17. It's a funny old thread, this one! I know people like to have their groans, and their speculative punts, but why do some have to shoot down any suggestions or offerings from other contributors? None of us know what sort of money the club are willing to spend, and the transfer window is not open yet, and it appears most of the links come from 'clickbait' articles. It would be nice (for me) to think that someone from the club is looking at the French, Turkish, or Italian leagues, and of course the names suggested won't have 'Prem experience'. But where did the Mahrezes and Tielemens come from? If Saints want ready-made Prem stars, why not just pop up the road and buy in Salah, de Bruyne and Kane? (I think I may already know the answer to that...)
  18. This is what I suspect, Sheaf Saint. I would also suspect that within what is a pretty small group of people, that the coaches who are going would have known something was afoot, and that Ralph was aware of what was going to be imposed on him and his staff. This all seems to me to be a 'natural' reaction by the new owners to do something, and I find some of the earlier suggestions that "we're stuck with another Gao. They're not doing anything" laughable! They have only been in place for this year!
  19. With your previous suggestion of Sean Dyche for manager, DT, there's only one certainty here. It's that you and I, and I suspect quite a few others, are on totally different wave-lengths...
  20. I think this is an underrated factor with any player or team playing in the Premier League. It definitely takes a few games to become familiar with the pace and rhythm. I suggest this may also be a considerration with othe players in Saints team, particularly Adam Armstrong. As for Diallo, I agree with the comment above that he is never a Romeo replacement. Furtherr forward is his place IMO.
  21. Has someone hacked LD's account? Reasoned thinking?
  22. In my opinion, football phone-ins contributors are on a par with contributors to football forums. i.e. biased, selfish, usually uninformed. Turkish is right, the best of the hosts are great at getting people to make themselves look even more stupid...
  23. It really has been a depressing, 'orrible end to the season. One might almost say 'pony'. Something will hopefully be done this summer, but I wonder what the concensus on here would be if the following scenario had played out: Saints won their 3 of their last 5 games and drew the other two, to finish the season on 40 points, finishing 5 points above the drop zone, and were only knocked out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage by one of the world's best teams. Would all the Saintsweb doom-and-gloom merchants view things differently? I, too, am puzzled by the drop-off in performance, but must say that earlier in the season was thrilled by some of the performances and results, by the same manager, same set of players and same coaching staff. And if anyone else was as lucky as I was, to be treated to a seat at the Spurs stadium, amongst the Spurs season ticket holders when we won there in February, they wouldn't be describing Elyonoussi as 'shite', or 'useless'! One more thing: Please, no more mentions of Brandon Williams in a thread entitled 'Major Revamp'. He really isn't...
  24. He did play well last night. He played well for Saints, too, much of the time. Yet there were plenty on this forum for whom he was never good enough!
  25. I think we should have some form of display before kick-off, in support of coming out. Taking the knee has made us all aware of the racism campaign. Maybe a hand stand by the players before kneeling?
