  1. The second half was really good!

Actually going back to the 'old days' (sorry about that) we used to slow handclap if the necessary effort wasn't being made - much more dignified, I think and gave them a chance to do something about it. Currently people boo at the end if they lose, it doesn't seem to matter whether the team tried or not...

Do you mean the fans who refuse to go to games because they don't like the chairman or the ones who boo young players because they don't win?
  4. I don't think that we are actually playing 'total football' - that at would imply that the players are changing positions in such a way that the centre half turns up on the right wing and is quite comfortable there. We are trying to play a passing game though - and long may it last!
  5. It seems to make a lot of people on here feel happy.
  6. Somebody with a bit of perspective! What are you doing on here?

    Merrington

Especially after doing so well against them last year. Oh!
  8. No WG, FC is not joking. They play some impressive stuff and are worth watching and supporting - it's the results that are lacking but hopefully they will come as they learn their trade.
  9. Marseilles?
  10. Although I agree with many of your points, I don't think this is right. The 'kids' put themselves about well and got stuck in with some tasty tackles, they did against West Ham and Birmingham too - they lost because they lacked experience not determination.
  11. I don't particularly disagree with that (apart from saying it was the same QPR team we beat 3 - 0 last season - anybody could have beaten them on that day, they were in mourning!) - I don't think you can equate naive and inexperienced defending with 'not giving a toss' though.
  12. Sorry but that is pathetic! I watched ten blokes play controlled football against a very good QPR team and stay in the game until until the last ten minutes and even then they were still trying to go forward and score a goal. How many shots did we have on goal today? I don't know the final tally but with five minutes left it was 14 - the same as QPR; hardly a case of not 'giving a toss'.
  13. You have correctly apologised to Kelvin - now you should apologise for your last comment...
  14. They are losing and are down to ten men - but are playing some decent football.
  15. Credit where its due, he has done well, so far - he will need the team to consistently produce some impressive results to keep his many critics quiet though...

    Why is it

Way back the fixture list always gave teams the same team home and away within the first two weeks as midweek games, e.g. in 1961 we played Rotherham A (Sat), Liverpool H (Wed), Pompey H (Sat) and Liverpool A (Wed). It was a great start to a season, the double over Liverpool and we beat Pompey 5 - 1; we lost to Rotherham of course...
  17. Paine scored a hat trick for England whilst still a Saints player.
  18. I thought that it was broke from the moment it first appeared.
  19. I believe that Chala won 13 international caps one year that he was here, it would have been intersting to see him play for us but he was never picked.

    Boo Boys

You too? Annoying isn't it! If McGoldrick's shot at the end had gone in instead of hitting the bar, I suspect that there would have been no boos and people would have been on here talking about the way our plucky youngsters stuck to the task and deserved the draw.
  21. Not a bad methodology to cling to, though (provided it works).
  22. He turned our season round when he joined - not just my opinion, there were 11 999 others at Dellhurst Park many of them wearing a fez in his honour. Perhaps you were thinking of Mark Draper...
  23. Perhaps, with the transfer deadline only two days away, our young players chose a good time to 'under perform'...
  24. Why is it that when we lose, people come on here saying some or all of the players weren't trying? Haven't they ever played football themselves? Sometimes you play flat out but make the wrong decision, sometimes the opposition are just too good for you on the day - it happens... I wouldn't be critical of the effort put in by Dyer today but his control seemed to be missing - perhaps he was nervous for some reason or other?
  25. Do you tend to see thinks as either black or white, by any chance?
