  1. A friend who is a journalist on the Echo told me that the only reason we haven't gone into administration so far is because Wotte has pleaded for it not to happen yet as it would have a bad effect on the team. He has never been a very reliable source of information though...
  2. He definitely said 'a point' - it surprised me too. The emphasis was on 'fight' though and the message was 'every little bit can help get us out of a mess'.
  3. I'm not so sure - when we were in relegation trouble under Branfoot, I bumped into Tommy Traynor at a garage and commented that he should get his boots out again, he said that we needed to fight for a point every time we played if we were to get out of the mess. I agree that three points are better though...
  4. If you look at the Sandbanks Ferry, it is sinking! To make things worse another ferry is about to plough into it.
  5. I told some Americans I met on holiday that I came from the place that the Mayflower sailed from and they said "Oh, Plymouth." (except they pronounced it Pliemouth).
  6. A force tends to alter the state of rest or uniform motion of a body - Bro Paul's teaching methods worked on me (48 years on!)
  7. I've been going since 1955 so, yes, I have seen them all play. I actually think that Paine is the best player ever to play for Saints but MLT was a genius.
  8. Armstrong, Ball or Case
  9. Agreed, that was a strange one.
  10. Doesn't make it wrong, though.
  11. The way the poll worked meant that it was better to be in the second XI than on the bench for the first - the subs were chosen out of the ones who didn't make either team.
  12. Er, I think that was Hatch's point - except he would have meant Simon Charlton not Euell and Perry...
  13. I'm with Ewell!
  14. I thought that you were a regular on here!
  15. It didn't start off with that premise - the thread began, 'if you could bring back one former Captain who would it be, mainly for their leadership on the pitch not necessarily their skill.' It just seems to have evolved into a continuation of the Best Ever Saints XI thread...
  16. Not just you, DPS. I've noticed that if anybody tries to post a balanced view of our situation, they are answered with references to being a Lowe Luvvie or a Skate - there isn't much sensible discussion to be had anymore. What we need is a good old take over thread.
  17. Dyer. Walcott could also play RM.
  18. It was Cruyff - Ball actually. Ekelund didn't play for us for long but I can understand people voting for him, he was a class act.
  19. Thanks for organising this StL - it's been much needed fun!
  20. If you want someone to lead by example then Cliff Huxford.
  21. There were plenty of people who wanted to get rid of McMenemy at the time. Luckily message boards weren't around back then - this one would have gone into meltdown!
  22. We are desperate!
  23. Sadly not, but it did give us hope and take our minds off our problems for a few days.
  24. Ted Bates for me too - from Div 3 South to Div 1, always showing steady improvement
