If you compare individual results with those of last year (e.g. last year lost to Sunderland away/this time won) and substituting the relegated teams by those promoted, we are actually a point to the good...

Chapel End Charlie is right to underline 'overwhelming support', I am mystified at the way the USA can turn a blind eye to their atrocities. Perhaps this number from Jim Carrey explains everything...

It would seem that not all gun owners are responsible people ... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/11971392/Arizona-grandfather-leaves-five-year-old-girl-in-the-desert-with-gun.html?utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook

Also claimed to be on vipbox - http://vipbᴏx.tv/soccer They have it down as European time though (20:45)...

You are good! Was it Eric Martin?
-
Not sure that he ever saved one. There was a goalie (Eric Martin?) who saved two in one game (might have been a retaken one - I can't trust my memory) against QPR many moons ago.

That observation really lifts the spirits!

I would have been useless, it took me well over a minute to even remember Dave Merrington's name!

I presume that the people highlighted in this report were all supporters of the second amendment. http://news.sky.com/story/1562458/us-gun-violence-history-of-deadly-shootings

People were shocked that we spent £20 000 on Tony Knapp (a record buy at the time) claiming that 'No player is worth that much'.

some examples of USA cops here too ...

Saint George - a serious question... I read a comment from a gun carrying American which stated that whereas he had to register and get insurance for his car, he didn't have to do that for his gun. If that's right (I have no reason to doubt him but it might vary from State to State), wouldn't it be a way forward for the US? You would still have your guns in case the Government suddenly attacks but there would then be a degree of responsibility involved as well.

That's an encouraging read, Rosewell - thanks. I have often been mystified by the USA's fear of communists and more recently Muslims, I know that 9/11 is still fresh in the mind but is there a logical reason for it being so commonplace?
-
Do you ever think that Americans have been brainwashed into believing that they are the 'land of the free'? All that flag saluting, anthem singing and 'we are world leaders and the best at everything' can't be particularly healthy.

Maybe here - http://www.vipbox.eu/soccer They are advertising it anyway.

I knew that school shootings happen occasionally in the US but I was genuinely surprised when I saw this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_school_shootings_in_the_United_States Still, as long as the second amendment is never amended...

'Bird has 58 previous court appearances for 95 offences.' I suspect that he already had a criminal record. Actually I find it very reassuring that an idiot with a fake gun is considered a serious threat - I wonder how he would have been dealt with in the Good Ol' US of A. No I don't, I know what would have happened to him...

Friendlies back then were actually taken very seriously, they don't really equate with the modern version and the multiple substitutions. It should also be noted that Charlton played midfield for most of his games for England (left wing in his early days). He would also be in the reckoning for any All Time World XI whilst I'm not sure whether Rooney would be a serious contender for an All Time English Team.
