  1. Thanks FHS - I shall have to go on wondering... Actually I don't think that his reply would have been too helpful if he had remembered, 1955 was before Terry Paine and Johnny Walker scored both our goals that afternoon. He was quite a goalie though - shorter than the typical keepers of today and they only wore gloves (knitted ones) if the ball was slippery.
  2. Could you ask John Christie whether he was unsighted with Aldershot's last gasp winner at the Recreation Ground in September 1955 or was it a deflection - it was my first ever game and it's worried me for 55 years! We lost 3 - 2 by the way...
  3. It's rather ironic tat AA claimed he would only sell to someone with the finance to move the club forward and that Chanrai's first words on taking over indicated that they would have to borrow money.
  4. Yes - on the back of the cheque and on enclosed paper, neither cheque has been cashed. I can only write once more today...
  5. I've twice sent a £5 cheque to the advertised address but I'm still only 'registered'.

  7. Maybe they have got things sorted after all... http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/LatestNews/news/Portsmouth-Football-Club-Statement-1492.aspx Or are they trying to calm things down a bit?

  11. A skilful George Lawrence?
  12. During the days of the 'three day week' when floodlit games were banned, we played Norwich at home on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon and there wasn't a very big crowd for that - I expect that season ticket holders were counted in the gate whether they were there or not. We lost 0 - 2.
  13. Nearly right - you are thinking of Don Roper. Names are one of the first things to go...
  14. According to this, Mandaric is staying with Leicester... http://www.teamtalk.com/leicester-city/6389864/Mandaric-rules-out-Pompey-return

    The Pope

I have no idea - I buy the Guardian so don't look online. It's on page 15 - they have a brief summary of the attendance, number of police, etc. under the heading 'In numbers'.

    The Pope

According to today's Guardian (who are not exactly pro-Pope)... For Benedict's visit to Birmingham, the cost to the local council was £80000 and the estimated revenue brought into the area was £12.5 million.
  17. He has a tax evasion charge to answer first...
  18. I seem to remember that they had to hand in a business plan before Chanrai could take over (I think that was for yesterday). PS - Mods or whoever: As I am still a 'registered member', does that mean that my cheque (sent in August- marked rpb) hasn't reached you?
  19. Wasn't the Football League due to make a decision about their golden share/administration today?
  20. Somehow I don't think the Lever buyout will ever happen. http://www.bridgingandcommercial.co.uk/newsstory?id=1218&type=newsfeature&title=feud_between_lender_and_22-year-old_entrepreneur_over_portsmouth_fc_deal
