  1. Rather an odd comment from Roman D about doing a deal here ... http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_164330880268459&notif_t=group_activity
  2. Not so recent - Bradford City gave Saints a guard of honour when we won the Third Division back in 1959. Bradford had nothing to play for though and could afford such demonstrations of pleasantness...
  3. Yum Yum was Victorian slang for the lady bits ...
  4. Japanese - from the Mikado
  5. I'm going to Abu Dhabi tomorrow!
  6. Yes!
  7. The 5 - 4 League Cup win in the days of Paine, Reeves and O'Brien had just about everything including floodlight failures. Reeves scored the winner in the last minute (he also scored the other four).
  8. Absolutely, if only they had video cameras back then...
  9. But we used to fill the Dell regularly.
  10. From the corresponding fixtures last year (substituting relegated/promoted clubs with the teams that replaced them) we won 4, drew 3 and lost 3 of the remaining ten fixtures. I hope that we have improved (or others have got worse)...
  11. She'll be 73 this year...
  12. In the season we were relegated (73/74) we only won three games after Christmas - he may have made some mistakes there...
  13. Oh yes he was...
  14. George O'Brien was a great signing back in 1959 - he gave us the goals that got us from Div 3 to the verge of Div 1. For value for money, I think that Ken Monkou would be hard to beat.
  15. I've kept a record of this season's results compared to last (with Leeds replaced by Plymouth, etc) and we are slightly behind where we were last year. From the same fixtures last year we had 66 points (-10 = 56), this year it's 61. A win against Wednesday (Norwich) on Saturday would give us 64 compared to 67. A pointless exercise but it keeps me busy...
  16. Obviously too young to remember the 1959/60 season...
  17. Whose feet did you put them on?
  18. Actually we have never been as good as we think we are...
  19. Quite nice to win?
  20. 'For all the Saints' A similar theme or has somebody suggested it already?
  21. 'All Saints"
  22. Was Williams a midfield anchor man? I thought he was more of the attacking persuasion.
  23. Portsmouth is very close to Southampton though. Surely that's a good selling point...
  24. Good point, not actually existing doesn't seem to be a problem.
  25. Laurie McM achieved miracles whilst Saints manager but it is noticeable that those who don't like him ignore his achievements whilst those who do forget that he also got us relegated. I know that he more than made up for that but it does seem like some are rewriting history to make a point.
