  1. Wigan is a rugby town. If they won the premiership 25000 gates would be good for them.
  2. At least the sash shirt was advert free. Never could understand the football supporters obsession to buy an overpriced article which turns you into a sandwich board advertising a crap company.
  3. If we finished 10th. Worth about £3million in additional prize money from where we are now.
  4. Not too sure about that. Benitez knows he's out end of season. FA cup win wouldn't look too bad on his CV.
  5. Alan Ball - impressive signing
  6. NA particularly praised Jack Stephens performance as CB. Joined us as a RB but as NC will probably be first choice in that position could be that NA feels he may need only bring in only one more CB.
  7. This idea is often floated (Arsenal buying Chambers and then loaning him back to us was well discussed on this board) but in reality how often does it happen? Don't think it will happen whoever buys him.
  8. Have any of the other ex Rangers played any friendlies for their new clubs yet?
  9. SSN CP given pesrmission for player to talk to us.
  10. Why Gatwick when you can fly to Southampton from Glasgow.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if the current years accounts shows an additional share issue to cover the SW development.
  12. He has trained, passed fit, and in contention for tomorrow. (Quote NA)
  13. In the unlikely event that there is enough money to pay the outstanding salaries this would mean the HMRC debt would go up to 2.4M.
  14. Funny old game. Sharp now coming to Saints after failing to agree terms with Leicester. Collins now going to Leicester after failing to agree terms with Saints.(all allegedly)
  15. Could be Saints have pulled out and statement required for fan base to reassure re commitment.
  16. RL may just want to move from North Baddesley to Chilworth. (New long term contract recently signed)
  17. I have been surprised that St Mary's has only been used for football and hospitality since the takeover. I thought the stadium is licenced for several concerts a year which would generate significant income.
  18. Not sure the wealth figure re Southampton is very accurate. I thought ML's wealth was 3bn+. Report states we are now owned by the Leiber family whose combined wealth would be far in excess of 3bn.
  19. Strange one. Left back, debut game, playing up front?
  20. If I remember correctly in an early interview NC stated that the ultimate vision was to see Saints in the Champions League. That suggests a somewhat longer term commitment.
  21. Surely the article is quoting Eddie Howe who states Southampton are interested but no official approach has been made. Suggests to me that some communication has gone on between the clubs.
  22. You could also use the same argument re the advertising about match sales to non season ticket holders.
  23. The concession for 60 year olds was in place before the takeover.
  24. I read somewhere that when Cork was at Chelsea he was rated as a CB. We have not only obtained an excellent midfielder but also the required CB cover.
  25. Based on those figures I wouldn't think an extention would be a goer. An increase of 3800 seats costing £57m works out at £15000 per seat. If you could generate income of £500 per seat per season it would take 30 years before breaking even. I think SMS was built at a cost of £1000 per seat.
