Not sure the wealth figure re Southampton is very accurate. I thought ML's wealth was 3bn+. Report states we are now owned by the Leiber family whose combined wealth would be far in excess of 3bn.

Surely the article is quoting Eddie Howe who states Southampton are interested but no official approach has been made. Suggests to me that some communication has gone on between the clubs.

Based on those figures I wouldn't think an extention would be a goer. An increase of 3800 seats costing £57m works out at £15000 per seat. If you could generate income of £500 per seat per season it would take 30 years before breaking even. I think SMS was built at a cost of £1000 per seat.
