We have the 5th largest economy in the world... some people really don't give us the credit we deserve. Vote leave so we can have a democratically elected parliament to have the power to do what they need to do, and run this county, and be held accountable for how it is run. The EU is a undemocratic joke, who have made a complete mess of the eurozone and and those country's in it. Again the EU is a joke!
-
Sounded to me like Cameron though that democracy is not as important as the economy, which I cant help but feel is ******, and that it was more about him and his rich buddies getting richer.
-
Gary Neville?
-
Can't believe some people want Les Reed out... What planet are you on!!!
-
Anyone who wants to live in a democratic society will vote leave. The people who benefit from remain are the rich, as well as Europe's political elite. There is no opposition in the EU, no accountability, and no choice of direction from the public... Its like a dictatorship. Tony Benn was 100% spot on, please watch.

I would like to add I want to be as balanced as possible, I try to listen to the arguments to stay in, but genuinely worry my kids will grow up find they may as well should not vote, as the PM would just be a puppet of the EU, which they currently are.
-
Voting to leave; mainly because I believe in Democracy (ability to change a government who I disagree with, and because the EU is too costly, unfair, undemocratic, supports the political elite and gives too much influence to people I know nothing about and no need to declare expenses) The EU will accept Turkey, and by not being able to control boarders this county will become too crowded, and will have less ability to defend against terrorists. Look at the minimum wage here, a what do you think will happen? Low skilled workers will want to come here, while someone who could benefit the country from outside the EU like a doctor will be refused; this happens and is completely wrong. Everything I here from the IN campaign is a threat, most things I here about the out campaign has reason... I go for reason. PS, EU annoyed me with giving Ford a grant to take manufacturing out of our city, as will as allowing Liverpool get a cruse terminal on the cheap... The EU has done nothing for this city.

would be great for the England team I am def voting to leave now.

Is it right for the media to use images of refugee tragedy?
Joesaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Lounge
My answer - Yes. Ignorance is bliss, but we gotta help. I would be happy for a temporary refugee camp in Southampton, and would be proud. -
Dont't rent, its more expensive, and less secure for your family.

Labour historically are poor with the economy. Agree about current dept / deficit, it must come down with public spending, the public sector must shrink and unions like those representing tube drivers need to be curbed as they are ripping off the country. Not sure labour going further left is going to sort out these problems! I will only consider voting labour if they are honest about cuts, and cut red tape for business.
-
My opinion, if labour go further left they become unvotable to the average person. The centre is everything whether it be slightly left or right is hopefully going to run the county how they want to, without damaging the economy, although labour last time managed to **** up... As always. Simple truth is if people are taxed to high they bugger off, government run business is not good either, and competition drives up standandards; in theory anyway. Just saying I'm not loyal to any party, but will not vote any party who I believe will ruin the country through some crazy ideology.

I sent this to the council leader: Read in the paper about Southampton City Council thinking about selling art to make up some money. I think it is a good idea to avoid the council getting into more debt, especially after watching the Dispatches documentary on LOBO loans which offer awful deal for city councils. (hopefully Southampton is financially ok) Anyway, back to the art work, if it is sold it will be gone for good, which I don't really want, the gallery collection is a fantastic asset, and maybe better used in future. So I was thinking that the City may have other assets that maybe worth selling, that actually may enhance the cultural image of Southampton and save the council with money. I will list some thoughts / ideas , and I am sorry if they are not owned by Southampton: Gods house (look how well the wool house is doing) Bargate The Old Royal Southern Yacht Club City Vaults, including the old Royal Wine Vault / Castle Vault which will face the new West Quay, The Undercroft, Lancaster Vault, King John Palace, Canute's Palace,or any of the many others. (I know they are used for walks, but they are also in a state, and the investment, as well as taking a burden off the council, they will be obliged restore buildings for future generations. The worst bit is that place above Canute's Palace, with the corrugated iron roof over what I can only imagine is an old archaeology dig. Surely it can be that any private investment has to preserve the past, which I'm sure many architects would love the challenge of while designing new innovative designs for a sustainable, forward thinking investment. Chapel Mills (don't think its the councils, but in need of investment) Just my thoughts, I'm sure they have been thought of, its just if we sell these physical buildings they can't be taken from the city like the art, but encourages long term investment.

People saying about the non-deal with alderweireld being a PR disaster... Really? I'm not sure many people will think anything of it, especially when the season starts. What matters is moving on, which it seems is what we are doing. It is not a PR disaster, we are Saints and not considered as big as Spuds, simple so just get over it. If anyone looses face, it's Alderwireld, as he said he wanted to stay, and when given the chose chose not too. He wont b as good there anyway, will loose confidence and score own goals.... well, maybe not that good an outcome but I though Lovren was quality!! COYS

For those of you saying we should pay more!! we could sign him for the agreed amount, and give Toby a massive signing on fee of 4 million maybe?... I can imagine that it is us who holds the cards in this.
-
I don't really care, we should run the club like a business, and that means being a bit savvy, and getting the best deal for SAINTS, I couldn't care less about AM, why should I?
-
If we don't get him, and spurs do I will be a bit annoyed. But you never know, maybe they felt there are other options available for better value for money. As a CB he was great, but I was unsure of him as a DM. I have a good feeling we will finish above spurs this coming season COYS PS We did well with the Lovren situation!

Thanks for that about the royal peer, that would be great. Our city councillors do seem to lack the ambition of Portsmouth. I don't think our city gets a fair deal at all however, with over 50,000 more residents you would think we could! We need to attract outside investment, and get everything we can get to improve the city, a city with real potential and great people. When they allowed the wool house to be used by as a pub I was very impressed. So the upkeep of the building is maintained and jobs created privately, something needs to happen to that other building now, the one which was the archiology museum needs to be sold off now, so that can be made profitable, same as the bargate, and vaults in the city. Red tape has to go, and attracting manufacturing jobs at the old ford plant and centenary query also? Also we need to source services externally to get the best deal, like refuse collection. And share more services with other councils to be more cost effective. I want the council to help fund the spitfire monument more so also, Portsmouth built their tower, and now have a sponsorship deal, a source of income! So many opportunities, but too much red tape. Those old gas towers near st Marys must be kept, but by offering opportunities to construction company's how they would use them within plans. I remember when they said lights on the bridge will be blue and we all complained... Did they listen... No. I fear our council fail to see themselves as working for the city, rather, the city works for them and there little soap of moaning, resignations and more moaning.

Which club is better: Liverpool, Tottenham, Southampton, or Swansea
Joesaint replied to Redslo's topic in The Saints
The best club... Well I am from, and live in Southampton. I am a Saints fan, I love supporting saints and go to games when possible. For me, Saints are the best club by far, the enjoyment I get from our team is great, especially recently. I think we also have a great owner, and team who run the club. southampton is a family club really, who invest in youth and believe in the sportsmanship side of the game, which I also believe the fans do to. Agree, made me laugh too.
