  1. The cynic in me has always considered that ML / NC could see that by snapping us up on the cheap, investing a few million to achieve a successful return to the Premier League, his investment would multiply several times over. Let's face it, at our level, he won't make a lot of revenue from us fans but reach the promised land and yourvalue will rise exponentially.
  2. Just done the bbc predictor and make the MillwallvSwindon last day of the season as the game that determineswho finishes in the 2nd automatic promotion spot.
  3. £25.00 for a season's membership
  4. Mark my words. We finish 6th with Charlton & Colchester dropping out of the top 6.
  5. If you're looking for good pre match music, and if you're going to MK Dons, todays the day. I thought the music prior to the game in the JPT semi was superb. Just a shame that they didn't have enough fans there to build an atmosphere!
  6. Norwich and Leeds are dead certs for the automatic promotion. I reckon we can make the play offs, on goal difference, on 79 points and I think Charlton will be the team that we pip. I'd fancy us to beat anyone then but we can only drop four points though.
  7. FWIW I've done the predictor and, with Saints winning all their games, (I know what you're all thinking), we'll pip Millwall by one point. With the run that they're on though it'll only take them to win one that I've got them drawing and that'll it. As a Saint through and through my heart says we can do it but my head says unlikely.
  8. Two songs that I can come up with:- 1.'Our grounds too small for us' 2.'Own goal, you're gonna score an own goal'
  9. A very good point. Alan Pardew made mention of the fact that Markus is a religious type who didn't like our players showing dissent to the Ref. I've been wondering for a while what they'll feel about football if there's trouble at the cup game. Could be enough to encourage their exit.
  10. I know this isn't all entirely relevant but it seems that Avram Grant WAS the Premier League manager in the brothel, @ Horton Heath, would you believe. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2838279/Avram-Grant-is-the-Premier-League-manager-who-visited-a-brothel.html And the Hong Kong businessman isn't happy either. Also in the Sun
  11. Nobody seems to think that Gillett might feature. This could be his big chance bearing in mind he wasn't fully match fit before he was offladed to Donny Rovers.
  12. The old Ron Davies song fits nicely:- His name is Ricky Lambert he's the leader of the team The greatest Centre Forward that the world has ever seen You always can rely on him to score the vital goal And as for Scott Dobie you can stick 'im up yer 'ole La la la la, la la la laa la, La la la la la la la la la la la la laa La la la la, la la la laa la, La la la la la la la la la la la la laa The Saints Obviously the Scott Dobie bit is changed according to who we're playing.
  13. I was at Swindon and this was much better. A centre back who was commanding and mobility in central midfield with Hammond. KD was rarely tested. MS disappointed though and probably found the opposition more than his teammates trying to play too many 'killer' balls.. Hammond's cross to the far post for Lambert to nod back for Harding was class. I can now see why Jake Thompson isn't a regular as he doesn't track back too well and their goal started down our right flank. I agree with those that say we need a pacy forward to compliment Lambert because our options are limited.
  14. Absolutely spot on. These so called 'supporters' shouldn't bother. AP has come in late. He's inherited a weak 'losing' squad. The best players have already been signed up elsewhere. FFS give the guy a break. We know we're nowhere near where we want to be but we have a club that, for the first time in 5 years can do something about the situation and move forward.

    Lee Holmes

i don't join many debates but I think, last season, he was always an outlet for Schneiderlin and, in my opinion, we suffered when he got injured. This season I'm thinking Gobern is in front of him and AP probably sees it the same. O.G. has more speed and he can go by players but is not yet aware of the defensive responsibilities that go with the wide midfield position.
  16. Murty's not bad!
  17. Also. Don't park outside Travis Perkins opposite The Chapel Arms. I was presented with a ticket for the first time after the Ajax game.
  18. You're having a larf! Chicken without head comeS to mind. I wouldn't waste my money even if I had a spare bob or two!
  19. As a fan I feel sorry that he was always on a hiding to nothing from day one and, for the sake of continuity, I would've given him the opportunity to re-build after all he knows what's needed. I'd like to thank him for the dignified way in which he recently conducted himself and wish him all the best for the future.
  20. The point that a lot of people need to understand is that, like Crainie, Mills and players of that ilk, their Agents will encourage disloyalty so they can sign a mega money contract with a top side then go out on loan at a lower level thereby earning far more than they're ever likely to with us. The Agent takes his cut, the player gains more experience and we mugs keep paying silly money to watch them live or on T.V.
  21. Simply put. The longer this is drawn out S.F.C. will it not be that S.F.C. will go into administration?
  22. Tim I might know you but i'm not sure. As you'll see I don't post a lot but your topic deserves a 'Soul Cellar' type response. Born in Sholing to dissidents from down the road and following a move to Merry Oak at the age of 3, I was 'treated' to football at nottarf krap one week and the dell the next with my first game being versus Bristol City in our promotion season of 65/66. When left to my own devices it didn't take too long to make up my mind where i stood as a football fan. Following promotion I remember the following season queueing outside the Milton at 12 o'clock to guarantee a place in the 'boys box' and, then later, on the Milton. I was there when we drew 1-1 against Man City, our first home game in Div 1 and when Campbell Forsyth broke his leg against the mighty Liverpool. The players then were ordinary blokes like we are now. We used to take our autograph books round to Dennis Hollywoods bungalow in Franklyn Road in Sholing, Martin Chivers lived in Upper Deacon Road and Terry Paine in Glenfield Crescent in Bitterne. Alright they owned their own property but they were amongst ordinay folk. The 70's followed and we had our ups and downs, literally, but always felt that, on a good day, we had enough to beat anyone. I was at Bradford, Stamford Bridge and Wembley in '76 and suffered in kick in the nuts after the game. It didn't matter, I'd just witnessed the biigest game in our history. The journey back was superb with fans on every motorway bridge and the town was buzzing when we got back. The next day we were on the roof of the old A.B.C. cinema to watch the presentation of the cup at the Civic Centre. The Rose Gardens and fountain were deluged by fans, the old bill weren't happy that we were on the roof and in their attempts to get us down they managed to wreck the double extension lader that we'd used to get onto the roof. We got back down via the London Steak House. Probably the best known lads included Ansell, Coombes, etc. Then playing the game got in the way of attending but you never forget where your roots lie. The memories are unforgettable and as I sit typing this i just wish that the youngsters that read this stuff can get a feel for the history and an understanding of how things were and may be for the future. As we sit on the dawn of a new era let's hope that today's youth can experience what we have and then we'll know that life is on the up.
  23. In my opinion it's simply down to a loss of belief. If you suffer a series of setbacks / losses it's a natural human reaction.
  24. What do you all expect to hear when Lee Molyneux has just been brought in (almost inevitably on lower money), to replace him. Skacel knows this of course and needs to generate a bit of interest in his services. Of course what could, and probably should, happen is that Skacel moves forward to midfield to increase our options. Oh wait a minute, we hit a Dyer like scenario. Bye bye Rudi. I'd like to thank you for your services but really you've been a bit of a let down.
