  1. Excellent team performance. If only we had taken our chances (i.e shooting when presented with the opportunity) in the first half when we were clearly the better team we may even have come away with 3 points. MOTM Morgan....not just because I love him
  2. Just been looking at the BBC gossip coumn to see if any of their stories include anyone outside of Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea & Liverpool (given Koeman's open comments about Vilhena & Djuricic) and note that according to the Mirror Mark Noble is available and attractic interest of WBA & QPR. He would be an excellent signing esp if Morgan does leave in the summer
  3. If we took 12 points, ie 2 points per game, then we would more than likely at least keep the gap between us & the "chasing" teams, but with only 10 games remaining. I thought last night if we picked up 25 points from the last 16, it means that Spurs have to pick up 30 - very nearly 2 points a match whilst still in 3 cup competitions
  4. Yes, much more a David Batty or Claude Makalele type of player
  5. Giggs was 20 at the time and already missing matches due to hamstring/muscle growth issues
  6. Whilst he was plagued with hamstring injuries in the latter part of his career, the medical experts believe this to have been down to the number of matches he (and others) play at an early age. In Owen's case he was starting for Liverpool and England at 17! His example is the major reason Shaw missed games in his first season. The fear is that playing at such a high level places too much (and long term) strain on muscles at a stage when the body is still developing & strengthening. I seem to recall that c80% of players who make 100 EPL appearances/starts before 21 end up with hamstring injuries which become a recurring feature of their future career. The high profile exception was Giggs, but he was told by Fergie to take up yoga as aprt of his fitness programme and sell his fancy Ferrari, whch basically had him sat on the floor.
  7. That takes no account of the value of the player to the selling club. Benfica obvioulsy felt that £21m met their valuation. That fee would not meet ours.
  8. If the women are off shopping then simply meet them at the Trafford Centre (assuming that is where they are shopping). Its then dead simple to get on the M60.
  9. I would start with Long tomorrow, and give Pelle a break with a place on the bench. Long is the kind of forward Terry & Cahill will not like as he runs the channels and takes defenders back towards their own goal. Pelle is likely to be exactly the type Cahill & Terry love to play against - one that does a lot with his back to goal trying to bring others into play. Cahill & Terry will just clamber all over him and the ref will give him little or no protection.
  10. You would certainly expect him to know a little about Pelle! Also liked the bit about Spurs continuing to show an interest in Morgan & Jay - the interest being that it is perpetuated in the article. If it is run enough times then the reported interest does indeed continue.
  11. Chambers is an introguing case as he has benefited from an injury to Debuchy and the late return due to the world cup of both Mertesacker & Kochelny. Mind, Arsenal have not had the best start overall, and have conceded quite a few goals. Chmabers has also been booked in every EPL match he has played in, and think he was suspended on Saturday as a result (?). Either way, Koeman's point about young players moving too early to the biggest clubs when they need to be playing week in & week out and developing , be they Dutch or English, is an interesting point
  12. Interesting and sensible views about how a number of talented Dutch players left the Netherlands too young to play for big teams. He mentioned a few players, such as Van Aarnholt, who moved to Chelsea for example and their development suffered. Interesting that he feels players need to develop their 'personality' before a move to the big European clubs (he was 26 when he signed for Barca) and they do this by playing week in, week out. He didn't make any reference to our high profile summer exits but I did think that his point about Dutch players could be easily said to be the same for Shaw (especially) & Chambers. I hope thay they do live up to their potential and don't have regrets. Similarly, it kind of ties in with Koeman's recent comments praising Bertrand, higlighting the fact that he has gained invaluable experience from playing for Chelsea and living with the expectations of having to perform every game.
  13. Oh my days! If there was one bit that pleased me most it was that we sought to score right to the very last. Didn't take the foot off their throat for a moment. I'd also like to give a mention to Morgan again. Whilst Tadic was MOM in my opinion, Morgan is playing at another level right now. I'm going to cherish this season as he can (and will) play for the very best sides in European football...so long as they meet our vluation of course. We must be talking £50m by now, surely?! :-)
  14. I was thinking this too. May be Redmond? Shame about Gaston in many ways, but he is not in our first XI. Hull is a strange move in some ways given they have signed Hernandez, Ince, and are in for Ben Arfa too. Add in Gaston & Jelavic and that is an un-balanced team as all will expect to play. You can keep layers happy at big sides with the chance of trophies but you would struggle to do that at clubs of our & Hull's size
  15. Away from home.... the first since Highfield Road in 1994
  16. So one month on from Remy's failed medical (he is not injured) where is Ings now with his move to Liverpool (if it actually existed in ayone's mind other than the unstable)? Ergo, why is Saints still no longer an option his agent (not just the player) is interested in?
  17. Where and how does an injury to Remy come into the pursuit of Ings? The flip-flopping between players mid-sentence has me scratching my head (not for the first time)
  18. In my opinion Clasie is a massive step up on Steven Davis, Cork and JWP. From the times I have seem him play, he reminds me of a 'Paul Scholes-type' player. I am obviously not saying that he is as good as Paul Scholes (arguably the finiest footballer England has produced in my lifetime - just ask any United player from the past 20 years), but Clasie would improve the side considerably. Then if we do get an injury, we can turn to Cork, Davis & JWP and not have to look at what is in the U-18s
  19. You are confident we were definitely in the final stages of negotiations then but messed up?
  20. Good - Roy can tell some other clubs' England Internationals that they need to move to a champions league side. His actions have been reprehensable.
  21. In a season when he entered the last year of his contract he seems not to have impressed the new manager in training or in the pre season games. I am as disappointed as the next person, but if the above summation is accurate then £3m now v £0 in June 15 is somewhat of a straightforward position. Like I say, I am disappointed as he is excellent when given a run in the team, but also I am pragmatic
  22. With the player in question it is no coincidence.
  23. Gardos enjoyed both so much he has put his name down to do another one tomorrow too. His addiction is such that we can't get Hernandez, Vlaar, Belhanda, Byram on the machines
  24. You are already about 30 minutes late and about 60th in line. The phrase, "you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please everyone all of the time" should actually be "you would do well to please just one, once!"
