  1. Had a rep in France as being an attack-minded coach. Pretty good record with Lille. Develops players from youth set ups. Was doing well with Roma until they gave him the heave-ho at turn of the year when he suffered his first blip in charge. I had noted his price had shortened to 20s this afternoon so for it to be now 4s is rather intriguing Possibly a little 'hipster' for some on here. He'd be on my shortlist with Roger Schmidt, Marcelino, Marco Silva, Phillip Cocu & Valverde ,
  2. Precisely. A top half finish, may be get to the knock out stages of Europa league and taking the cups seriously (subject to draw obviously). We have been spoilt the last 3 seasons and have benefited from the bigger sides being inconsistent.
  3. I discounted Valverde as he has only recently extended his contract with Bilbao. Would be an interesting proposition
  4. Or here: http://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/fourfourtwos-50-best-football-managers-world-2015-30-26#:p84AdVbGyzZakA Though it is a year out of date now so don't be put off by rankings
  5. I have been waiting for someone to mention this. I think he is an interesting 'outsider' (a n other), though I still prefer Marcellino from Villarreal if you assume it won't be any of the others on the shortlist K Billy posted
  6. I mentioned him 2-3 days ago, along with roger Schmidt at Bayer Leverkusen. Perreira seems to be in the same mould so hoping these are on the radar too. Will do some reading on perreira
  7. If Klopp. Mourinho & Pep were options on the poll, do you think FDB would still be as popular among those forum members who have voted? I'll take the club's scouting network over the perceived consensus view on here all day long
  8. You are basing this on one person's word of a shortlist drawn up 2 months ago. There are plenty of good coaches out there. Some will be more realistic targets than Emery. We just don't know
  9. How about Roger Schmidt from Bayer Leverkusen, cocu at PSV or Marcelino at Villarreal? All have managed in European comps for a couple of seasons and arguably good coaches as their budgets are not huge
  10. He is only 62 years of age not 72. His age though does mean we won't be a "stepping stone". He has European experience in his last 4 jobs. He also carries a healthy respect within the game. Enhanced by his handling of the Pep which dominated city's campaign from the start. I would take pellegrini this time around. I rate Howe but feel this is not yet the right time
  11. I thought this much of last season. I seem to recall a video on YouTube which practically stated/admitted this to be the case. I hope Erwin decides not to follow
  12. As much as I would like someone like Emery, De Boer (i.e someone with their managerial career ahead of them). I would take Pellegrini for 3 years so I can have some relatively peaceful summer breaks. At 62, his next job after the one he picks up this summer will be as manager of Chile. Its not like he has not managed at the very highest level and biggest clubs either, whilst also achieving "success" with Villarreal and Malaga.
  13. Why are you so sure it is luck? Its not like we just borrow "Merlin" from the National Lottery draw to determine who we sign (on and off the pitch).
  14. Sam Wallace is arguably the best football journalist in the UK press (with Alison Rudd). He has very good sources within the game. He's not the normal journo that we 'place' stories with (Jeremy Wilson?), so seems to be very much his own opinion. A good read
  15. Chambers is a very good footballer. He can play full back, centre back & centre midfield equally well. His transfer probably disappointed me the most from summer 04. He could quite easily have been ahead of both Stones & Died in their respective positions. He has had limited chances at Arsenal and has not had to fight back from serious injury If he is available I would take him back though only if the deal is permanent. No brainier in my opinion
  16. ** Kelvin obviously
  17. Pat Dolan represents a lot of the Irish squad, including Seamus Coleman for example. I'd like to think Pochettino is not that brazen to be sat next to a saints player's agent all the same. He appears to have retained amicable links within the club's hierarchy given his appearance at Melvin's testimonial
  18. If we are looking at Praet then I hope we looked at Youri Tielemans too. I know I dream, but if you don't ask, you don't get. He will play for the very biggest teams in the future
  19. Renewal deadline last Monday. Yet it's been confirmed new sales have been taken too. Renewals with a request to move should be complete before open sale, surely, esp given price changes for next season?
  20. Pleased for Punch but wanted to avoid qualifiers and the expense thereof
  21. You would have thought that existing season ticket holders who have requested a move would be able to select new seats before new sales were opened?
  22. With Romeu picking up another booking, its likely he will be needed before Vic is back from his 5 match ban
  23. They have not addressed their major problem/weakness. Seems like they are going to make Keegan's team look like overly defensive, dour side. However, I think there are 3 worse teams in Norwich, Sunderland & villa.
  24. Still waiting, or if not, you are not alone in missing it
  25. And you don't mind travelling all that way to pick up the tickets in person only to hand to the 'lucky winner'? :-)
