  1. Kevin Phillips (to later cost £3m), Andy Townsend spring to mind as well as the now-mentioned Dennis Wise
  2. Uh-oh. What have you done? Expect to be told to stand in the corner foryour show of insolence. You do know that Hypo was not bing in any way critical or down on a player of ours, esp one that has not yet had the opportunity to show his merits. Tsk
  3. Based on 'own personal opinion' - the same how yours was. Lets judge the poor soul once he has played a competitive game and not write him off based on a pre-season fitness exercise. I would also add that a lot of the criticisms you have of Lovren are the same levied at the more expensive Davide Astori ...if you believe everything that is written/said. Who is to know whether we have paid over the odds or have pulled off a master stroke when he was said to have been on the radar of far bigger clubs than us when he was not injured nor in dispute with his coach
  4. don't think it is anything more sinister than managing his development. Expecting a bit much of a 17 year old to play at the highest level whilst he is still developing/ growing/strengthening.
  5. Snap I had QPR finishing on same points as Sunderland, but going down on goal difference.
  6. No - I think we have to start on the front foot, particularly this Saturday against QPR. Their tactic over the past month or so is to keep it tight & frustrate the opposition (i.e to still be in the game), and then try to take advantage of the chances they create later in the game. If it is 0-0 after an hour, then Harry will be more than happy and fancy their chances of taking the points in the last third of the game. If they find themselves a goal down early, they will have to be a bit more open than they would like.
  7. Can't really argue with that (but then I do have a man-crush on Morgan)
  8. You remind me of my driving instructor who despised Arsene Wenger - this was the year they went through the season unbeaten and had players the calibre of Henry, Vieira, Bergkamp. Overmars ..... Strange bolke
  9. Is Jamie Carragher worth an enquiry on loan (if he won't actually leave Liverpool)? He would undoubtedly add experience and leadership, esp in view of Jose's injury.
  10. Trains run direct from Liverpool Lime Street to Wigan North Western (?). They appear to be pretty regular. Most seem stopping services (45-50 mins) but there is one that takes about 30 mins. Train station looks to be about a 20 minute plus walk to the ground. I too will be staying in Liverpool as I am staying the weekend with friends. If there is a group of you, car & tak of petrol will probably still work out cheaper than the train from Southampton or plane. Coach will be cheaper but tedious
  11. Hoping that Wigan tickets do not go on sale until after the Villa game is played so that one of the away games I have been to actually qualifies - Villa will be my 3rd and Wigan should be number 4)
  12. Re Guly's miss: I tell you now. Had the ball ended in the net, then the ex pros on MOTD tonight would be telling you just what a difficult skill that is to do. Alas, it was off target and the forum posters can use the missed chance as another stick to beat him with. FWIW, I was more disappointed with the initial shot from Rodriguez, which was right at Begovic, when either side would have made Guly's chance irrelevant.
  13. A point everyone seems to completely ignore and just thinks it is another one we were unable to attract
  14. I was more amazed it took until post 8 for someone to notice Nige's number 1 fan is back
  15. Anyone know why away ticket purchases for Stoke are not eligible? (suggesting that Fulham is - played 3 days earlier)
  16. This
  17. He was making it simple for you to understand, knowing that you would be incapable of getting your noggin around the flexibility within the system.
  18. Your supposed rigid 4-3-3 has been 4-1-2-3, 4-5-1, 4-2-3-1 on any number of occasions ...not just in separate games but in a 90 minutes period. HTH
  19. Hopefully it is a good thing that Vaz Te is out injured. I am ont quite sure he knows, but he seems to pick up possession in dangerous positions and more often than not is getting shots away. One major concern I have is Nolan. He seems to create space by not actually moving. If you watch him in the penalty box, he takes up a position and then stays there. It seems defenders then leave him as he is not seen as making a run off the back of them into space. Et voila, the defender switches off and he has scored another goal.
  20. Which amounted to not very much. A statement many Villa fans will be absolutely seething about
  21. Ramirez. 'Touch' is all I have to say!!!
  22. Ssshh - you are undermining his argument with a contructive defence with use of a very good example. He denies he is a troll, but everything he says is for pure effect to get a reaction.
  23. Morgan. Special mentions to Davis, JWP and Puncheon As welll as the trademark 40 yard passes, Morgan covered so much ground - closing down, tackles, interceptions. It was the complete midfield performance
  24. Morgan, JWP & Davis all played the full 94 minutes. HTH
