  1. Worrying if MP really thinks the depth of our squad is good enough if Dani Osvaldo leaves. We are definitely 1 striker light and while Sam Gallagher showed some potential I would definitely not want to be reliant on him for the rest of the season if we have a longer term injury to Lambert or JRod unless we plan to just limp over the line and finish 13/14 and have given up on this season I don't expect other signings until the summer but we need better back up options at goalkeeper and centre back for starters if we really plan to push forwards?
  2. Hopefully it will mean clattenburg won't referee saints for a few months due to the ill feeling which will be a right result as he is the worst referee in the premiership
  3. well we have got a ccc defence out today and I'd be amazed if we get anything from this match with that defence today. Maybe MP is hinting to NC that we do need to be active in the January transfer market as our defensive back ups aren't good enough. Lets hope our midfield and strikers are on form as we will need to out score them I think!!
  4. If we are still in touch after another 10 games then it will look very hopeful of a top 8 finish. Our next 10 games include Arsenal, Chelsea & Everton away and Man City,Spurs and Chelsea at home. From the corresponding fixtures last season we got 10 points from the next 10 games. These fixtures will show us how far we have come
  5. Did we make a late move in the transfer window for Oscar Cardoza from Benfica? Saw it reported in one of the papers yesterday saying we would try again in January along with West Ham.
  6. We have only gained on Fulham,Norwich,Swansea, Wba Etc if we are lucky with injuries. They have all added more squad depth in numbers than we have. We will have one of the smallest squads in the premiership submitted for the 25 allowed. I am a little concerned about the back up in certain positions and these will need strengthening over the next couple of windows or with academy prospects coming through if we really want to push on to the next level. If Shaw and Boruc and Lovren were injured and we had to play Davis,Fox and Jos then we will be in trouble so our squad is nowhere near as good as a lot of the happy clappers harp on about on here. Our 1st choice 11 is potentially very strong if they can start properly gelling as a team So yes we have added 3 real quality players but we still have a lot of squad building to be done in January and next Summer to really make some progress to properly compete in the top 10. Davis,Fox,Jos,Guly and Mayuka will all need replacing imo with better players and we haven't replaced Puncheon. We still have a lot of work to do to say we have a great squad
  7. We need squad depth and getting rid of both Puncheon and Mayuka with no new arrivals is a massive risk if we pick up a few injuries. I thought we are trying to build a really good squad not just an excellent 1st 11 and if Cork and Jos leave today aswell with no replacements bought then it will have ended up as a slightly disappointing window even with the 3 quality additions as we need decent back ups
  8. I was not saying that we hadn't strengthened as we obviously have with Lovren, Wanyama and Osvaldo. We have spent a lot of money on these 3 players. Lovren looks class and hopefully the other 2 will come good but at this stage we look a poorer side with those 2 in and Cork and JRod not playing. Early days but Morgan does not look the same player without Cork Teams like Swansea,Norwich and Fulham have all seriously strengthened and if we want to be a top 10 side we need to be beating teams like Norwich imo. We still need a fullback and winger to provide more options and pace now we haven't got Puncheon and so Fox is not playing if Shaw is injured.Just dont think Fox is a premiership quality fullback and don't think Targett is ready hence why I feel the need for cover is essential. Think we need to cover these two positions if we are serious about finishing 8th this season but dont expect anything to happen this transfer window
  9. Clyne is considerably better than Chambers. Chambers had a torrid time against Redmond today and I reckon Clyne would have done much better against him. Time for Chambers to go back to the bench
  10. If noone else comes in ie fullback and winger I think we will be the surprise team negatively and be sat in a relegation place or just above it come the January transfer window especially if we are unlucky with injuries. All our direct competitors have strengthened and we cant beat the mediocre teams and the big teams will be far more difficult to beat this season as they wont under estimate us this season. I am currently a little worried about the 2nd season syndrome and feel talk of a top 8 place is a long way off on the 1st three performances of the season
  11. Dont think we are a top ten side this season on the 1st 3 games evidence and will probably finish somewhere between 12 and 15 which will not please NC and could cost MP his job later in the season. We Still need a pacy winger and a defender who can cover central defence and left back if we are really serious about progressing this season!! Fox should be nowhere near the squad and its time to start playing Clyne and Shaw at fullbacks. If we sell Cork before Monday night we are seriously heading backwards as a squad as we need to have back up players of his class not Fox,Guly and Jos. Next couple of days will be interesting as we do desperately need some pace and something different upfront
  12. I think we will still sign 2 more players a winger to replace Punch and another defender and will then let Fox or Jos move on. If Guly leaves aswell there could be an attacker/striker otherwise we will be leaving our squad too threadbare if we get a few injuries/suspension. We do need to shift out Sharpe.Lee,Barnard,Forte,Hammond and Martin aswell if possible I do wonder if we might go back for Banega at the end now we have landed all our other high profile targets.Might he be more inclined to say yes now we have got Osvaldo? buying into our project
  13. 100% not worried. We have at least 3 players currently in our squad who we could sell for £20 million plus(Shaw,Morgan and Wanyama and at least another 3 worth £10 million plus(Lovren,Osvaldo,Clyne) Lallana,Cork,Jrod and JWP would all be £5 million plus. So we have plenty of players worth a lot of money in our squad and we have the backing of our owners and an excellent academy with more future players on the conveyer belt. Never been a better time to be a Saints supporter
  14. Our transfer policy will definately affect the attendance on Saturday for the friendly. As I am currently underwhelmed with Saints transfer activity this summer I definately wont be bothering and I know quite a few fans I've spoken to feeling exactly the same way. I know there is still plenty of time before the transfer window shuts but why are the club desperately advertising Saturdays game on the radio with Wave etc if the attendance was looking good?
  15. How come Blackmore has said Banega & Damieo non starters and not Osvaldo? Maybe he is still a serious option
  16. Not a chance we have nowhere near the squad needed to challenge the top 6. Light years away imo and still need 4/5 quality additions over the next few transfer windows and not lose any of our star players to even stand any chance of getting close.
  17. I also think without another couple of quality additions to the squad we will struggle next season. Think we will stay up but won't finish any higher than last season. We are currently lacking the extra quality we need going forward to finish top ten imo We seem to be wasting all our time on seemingly unachievable transfer targets like Damieo, Osvaldo and Banega. Hopefully NC will make me eat my words but I am getting concerned that now the rumours are linking us with a whole load of dross no better than what we have already got. Have we missed out on our main targets? Feeling a lot less confident about the new season all the time we haven't addressed our striker and winger problems especially when all our rivals like Norwich,Swansea and Sunderland have seriously strengthened. Still plenty of time but we want to hit the ground running with our winnable opening fixtures hence why I want the striker and winger in very soon to have time to bed in with the squad and not be transfer deadline arrivals
  18. Would be massively underwhelmed if we sign this guy. Hooper would be 10 times the signing of this guy imo
  19. I see on not606 one of the main posters on their reckons its Bueno signing this week
  20. It won't put a dent in who we can purchase elsewhere as we have £50+ million available for transfers from rumours I have heard. It might actually help land a couple of our other targets by showing them we have ambition and players being monitored by bigger teams than us are willing to buy into our project and join us like Lovren. I think a percentage of our fanbase are totally deluded in who they think we can sign expecting the top players in the world to come to us. For our current position Lovren is one hell of a coup especially when you read comments from lots of different journalists and fans on twitter saying how the hell did Southampton land Lovren. He is definately a major upgrade on Jos and Jose for a start. How do we know that we are not trying to buy Astori aswell!!? Lovren has bags of potential and I for one am willing to trust NC and MP and at least give Lovren a chance before writing him off
  21. Eric Lamela from Napoli I have seen mentioned fror £15 million. That would fit the pretty big comment?
  22. I have been told from a third party that apparently his girlfriend had said he was moving to Arsenal with a £15 million fee agreed. Thought it was bulls**t at the time but you never known
  23. IF we stay on 39 points we are extremely unlikely to be relegated but would prefer us to get at least a point tomorrow to wrap safety up
  24. Wigan are far more likely to lose at Arsenal after winning the cup today imo. From such a massive cup shock and the players being on a high and the fact Arsenal are going to be a lot fresher it is written all over this match a Wigan defeat ie from such a high to a real low for the players. Arsenal have a lot more pace to worry Wigan's defence and need to win this game as Newcastle away wont be easy for them so they will want to win their last home game. I would be totally amazed and put it about 3 times the shock value of today if Wigam were to win at the Emirates because even an unlikely draw keeps us up and thats assuming we don't get something tomorrow and I think we will at least pick up a point tomorrow
