Do we need a Campaign for red and white stripes and black shorts
Chewy replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
Maybe the Liverpool kit explains why all their transfer targets end up here? Better keep it. -
You're wrong as usual. We will not be another Pompey.
-
And we all know how rubbish spaniards are. It's not as if they've won the last three major international tournaments is it Not that it's going to happen anyway.
-
I went for yoshida but spider was top class. De ridder has a vote ...
-
Really pleased with how seemless the transition seemed. A very NA performance. And I have to say there were some star players at the back. Boruc (I was always in his camp) was top class, the full backs win out over every winger they come across, and yoshida just gets better. Even hooiveld looked good tonight. If the players keep hat level of focus we will comfortably stay up. Well done.

Just to be clear, at no point have I said it was acceptable to sack NA. I even started the thanks and good luck thread. I don't think the long-term ambition is as far-fetched as many seem to; I don't buy into the next Pompey argument; I don't think they will bail if we go down; I think the infrastructure and squad acquisitions clearly suggest we are looking to the long-term future; i think the investment will continue at significant levels; I think the future is exciting. However, I think NA deserved the chance to see how far he could take us - the pitch is ultimately where all the investment comes to fruition and achieves results, and NA was learning fast and doing well. With the momentum he'd just built up I thought 3 points were possible against Everton which would have given us significant breathing space. I doubt 3 points are now very likely. Unfair, handled badly, and appalling timing. But at the same time, a suggestion of just how ambitious we are. IMO he really does have big plans, and will pursue them ruthlessly. Whether any of us are comfortable with that is a different argument.

Clearly we don't have the traditional revenue streams of some (ticket sales, shirt sales etc) but then neither did Chelsea or city before they were heavily invested in. In terms of spending, we were 4th this summer, miles behind Chelsea, 12 million behind Man U, 2.5 behind city, 8 more than Liverpool, 28 more than arsenal, and spurs actually sold more than they spent. After this window we are now ahead of city. If coutinho or astori happen we will probably be second. At what point are you going to reappraise? And for those who think we are in serious danger of becoming the next Pompey, all these players are young and have re-sale value. There is not a Kanu in sight. Apart from one bizarre decision on Friday, carried out in highly questionable circumstances, there is massive reason for optimism at saints. Still.

Actually, you just said we don't have the resources. That was an assumption, not a factual answer. If we do have the resources, your argument surely means that we can compete? Do you know what resources we have? If so, please tell me how you know this.

First I was answering a specific question (which you don't seem to like doing). Secondly, we are heavily bank rolled by a dead Swiss billionaire. Rvp is ridiculous because we are not in the champions league, but we all thought Ramirez was ridiculous, as is beating Liverpool to forren, and being linked with coutinho. And lastly, if we get him and astori we wouldn't be far off the biggest spenders in the league this season. See, it may be far fetched, but its not actually entirely unbelievable, and certainly doesn't warrant your level of incredulity. IMHO of course.

Blackburn won the league with gates of 20k. And played champions league football as a result. Spurs were there last year with little more than 30k gates.
-
At the risk of sounding pedantic, they have won a European trophy, a couple of cups and the league in the least 30 years. Plus a few second places as well.
-
In all fairness, only very few people know the real financial situation, so it's always going to about opinion based on the evidence we have to go on. Based on what I've seen I'm feeling very confident that we are not going to end up like those down the road. Stay sceptical if you like, i see no reason to.
-
We don't know they're no longer investing large sums of money. Over 30 million spent in the summer, millions seemingly still available(astori, coutinho, we even went for del, pierro who's wages would have been enormous), we are still upgrading staplewood and have plans to improve the stadium. As has been stated many times before, the loan was for tax avoidance purposes. Why are some people he'll bent on suggesting we are at risk of financial meltdown, when all the evidence points to quite the reverse (including, IMO Pochettinos appointment, not that I agree with it for one second)? Disagree with decisions by all means, but we are not going bust any time soon!

I'm being serious. Aslan Usoyan was gunned down outside a restaurant this week. Doubt he'll be meeting anyone soon!
-
The same restaurant he was murdered outside earlier this week?

Part of me hopes that saints employees never join this forum to read the clap trap some of us spout. But a big part of me hopes NA gets to read this post and understand how we all feel about him. Top man, and we've all said the same. Together as one indeed!
-
Indeed. It's more about what's in the agents brown paper bag. Possibly ...
-
In fairness to the OP, there have been a few appalling comments on here today. Not very many, but not very nice either.
-
Longer than fergie with just as much silverware, and he will retire and be made life president in 30 years.
-
I wasn't expecting to laugh at any point today, so thank you.
-
Are you all genuinely surprised or did you expect it?

Blackpool then Everton when moyes replaces fergie? Wherever he goes, I wish him well.
-
Seriously alps, that's the only thing that's made me smile today. Not even a hint of irony ...
-
Is that sarcasm or idiocy?
