  1. Similar, possibly more as he's english which (for some bizarre reason) inflates the price. IMO he's not quite as good. But, and here's the point you're missing, its not about what x club paid for y player, it's about the context of those specific players. Do we need to sell them, and are they desperate to leave? If we stay up we have no need to sell, if we go down we might. In terms of the players aspirations, who knows. But if they're happy and we don't need the money, we can hold out for ridiculous amounts. And i get the feeling cortese would play hard ball. Upwards of 15 million for both is therefore, in the context, realistic.
  2. Arsenal, psg, spurs, Chelsea, man city would all be improved by him. I'd expect initial bids to be 12 - 15 million. Realistic, I think. And I wouldn't sell for that amount, we dont need the money so can hold out for more. It would therefore take more than double your top estimate to buy him from us.
  3. Joe allen
  4. Jordan Henderson
  5. You 'expected' top 12. Unrealistic. You predicted two away wins in the middle of a run of champions league form in 8 games including against the top 2 and both Merseyside clubs. Unrealistic. You think Morgan is worth at most 8 million. Unrealistic. You really don't have a clue, do you?
  6. Are you serious?
  7. How many points did Adkins win against sides in the top 7? Just asking ...
  8. Premier leagues best midfielder is only good enough for Liverpool as a squad player ... Most deluded fans ever.
  9. Wigan are playing well but are inconsistent, and I still think villa are really poor. I think you're right about reading and qpr, the best thing though is that it was 3 from 5, and now I think it's 2 gone but 1 more from quite a few. None of Norwich, Sunderland, stoke, west ham, Fulham or even the toon can feel totally safe. Given their form and remaining fixtures, I'd be worried if I was a hammer or Sunderland fan. Of course, if Wigan lose their games in hand it's almost all over. Whatever the case, we are in a healthier position than we were at three o'clock
  10. Deserved? I thought at half time we were exposed for having a defence that was 'crap in all honesty' ... But, the op here is right - deserved and very, very welcome
  11. Well, he's now got two weeks to sort all of today's problems out. If he can't turn it round quickly he will have to go. Mp out!
  12. No, only 5-0. We just about avoided it. What a fantastic result and performance. Still work to be done to ensure we stay up, but that must give confidence to even the biggest bed wetters.
  13. Half full or half empty?
  14. I don't think it's the opposition's size - we are just better against tems that play on the front foot as it gives our forward players more space to operate in. We struggle to break down sides who defend in numbers because we don't have any pace. Today gives us more chance going forward ... but we'll have times under pressure I'd imagine. Expecting a tough afternoon and probable defeat, but wouldn't be too surprised if we get something. Here's hoping.
  15. Who's the ref today?
  16. Possibly, but he was young, hungry and willing to learn.
  17. I've got two separate thoughts on this. Firstly, and most importantly, I hate the constant whinging and barracking of officials. David moyes said uniteds players were right to surround the Turkish ref ... I think that's an outrageous thing for an experienced manager to say. The 'fair play' program is a complete disaster, and until refs and players (and most importantly the media) take responsibility for not condoning it, it will just get worse. Not that death threats to refs isn't about as low as you can get. It's a game FFs. The fact that a ref made a mistake really should be irrelevant. However, for us to be the first this season to be made an example of? Seriously?? How typical of the fa to bear their teeth against a smaller club than dare to upset a big club or big name. What a joke. Remember them doing wolves for fielding a weakened team? A champions league team has never done that of course ...? The sort of behaviour we were guilty of happens at most matches most weeks. Absolute farce. Our defence in a hearing shouldn't be that the ref was clearly wrong (in his case again), but hours and hours of video footage of united, Chelsea, citeh etc behaving identically at various times this season. Lastly, someone said our closest 'fair play' challengers were Liverpool. Seriously? With Suarez??? I thought he'd be bottom of the league on his own. What an absolute joke football is at times.

    Possession

I could watch that all day long. I know Adkins was a keeper, but doesn't he understand most players can't use their hands? And I didn't see many goals scored. I think I understand words rather better ...

    Possession

Yes, that's right - I lost count of the times we won games by creating unmissable chances, and lallanas miss was due to being crowded out ... You are so incorrect it's almost funny. Almost, but unfortunately just amazingly tedious.
  20. I wouldn't.
  21. How much is your house worth? I'm really tempted by this bet offer.

    Possession

The word pace is the key. If we can't go through teams we need to get round them, and both our regular wingers (punch and lallana) are slow and also want to come inside onto their stronger foot all the time. The first choice fullbacks can overlap but the replacements aren't good enough so we suffer when either is absent - plus it leaves us susceptible to the break. The summer transfer activity (assuming we stay up) needs to see focus on the flanks.
  23. Player of the year is easy - Morgan. Numpty? Bit harder ... We have gazzaniga throwing the ball in the net against Norwich, boruc having a go at the fans, jos equalling the record number of own goals in a season ( still time to break the record), fox for being, well, fox, guly and al for missing open goals at stoke and Norwich, but the winner has to be nc for replacing a perfectly good manager for no good reason at a stupid point in the season.
  24. I'd probably drop al instead, and have lambert behind j-rod. Gaston was pretty good yesterday, and I'd expect there to be more space for him against Liverpool who will want to attack
  25. One post less than it took a troll to ruin it - it's not possible to have a sensible discussion on here, unless you think a 5-0 home defeat is in the slightest bit likely. I'm not sure we've ever lost at home by that scoreline in the 30+ years I've followed saints.
