  1. I'm not too big for my boots, I'd like him, just think its a waste of 25 million, especially when we already have billy sharp. I see palace have bought dobie and gayle, we should be after these sorts of players rather than wasting our time, money and effort on unproven backup centre forwards for once great South American sides. Then we could revert to relegation scraps with mediocre players rather than actually gamble on being a top side ...
  2. Yeh, srl is far better than hulk.
  3. At the risk of sounding like mlg, it's not plausible as the jules rimet trophy hasn't been used for over 40 years. The rest is pretty implausible too, but to quote another of our implausible signings, "I'd love it"
  4. But then it should be how would you feel. And he still lists charlie Adam and Robbie Keane as a sexy signing. The guys a mentalist.
  5. Completely agree.
  6. 36, live near winchester. First game was home to Leicester in about 84, Steve Moran scored a late equaliser with a diving header I think (he's still my hero, well 2nd now after mlt), first away game was at Coventry, same season I think. Williams got sent off with Steve hunt possibly? Wish I'd gone to the home game that season, I think we won 8-2. Which reminds me, I loved the way the vidi printer on grandstand used to write the number in letters when it was big ... West brom 0 wolves 0 Saints 8 (eight) Coventry 2 as if to say yep, they really did score that many
  7. Hmm, going to struggle here. George Lawrence?
  8. Oh, and I was talking tosh about Alan ball, his England days were well behind him. Great stuff with alf Ramsey btw.
  9. Stretching things, but you stretched the rules for me so I will let it go. Not entirely sure if dave Watson played for England while with us, but i was thinking of a 4-4-2 of Shilton, mills, Watson, wright, bridge, Paine, Williams, Armstrong, Wallace, le tiss and Channon. Ball and Keegan were obvious, but well done on crouch (if true?) and Beattie .... Can't believe I missed him. And was shearer given his debut while a saint? Fairly sure he was. Anyway, your turn.
  10. Unlike mlt to be a stickler anyway, thanks for the leniency, but I can only think of one right back and one left back so I might be ok!
  11. Hmm ok, probably a few variations on a right answer, but name a saints XI of players who were current England internationals when they played for us. Needs to be in a sensible formation!
  12. Killer, mikael Nilsson or Jakobson? Running out of swedes here ...
  13. Jesus is our right back?
  14. By far and away the most important aspect of this move is that we signed a defender first, so alpine has much less opportunity to whinge this summer about not having our priorities right.
  15. Nick Holmes was the first number 7 of my time.
  16. I think the odds on the link are about right. But no, I'm not going to bet ... I bet once a year on the national and that's it.
  17. What's the relegation odds?
  18. West ham had a premier league squad and we had money. Palace and hull have neither. Cardiff have money so I think have a chance, but I can't see any hope for the others.
  19. If stoke appoint Hughes could well be them, but I'm not convinced by di Canio and villa are not that good, especially if they lose benteke. Clearly the summer will be very important but place and hull are surely way too weak?
  20. So that's the second relegation spot sewn up with hull. Wonder who else is going down?
  21. Chewy

    Chaplow

Terribly sad, so sorry to hear. All the best to all concerned.
  22. We have very marginally more chance than last season when we weren't even in the league.
