  1. Wolves seem to be crap whenever we need them to do something.
  2. Encouraging, in an odd way, that RH keeping some sort of faith in Mo. He must be seeing something in him.
  3. I think that converting JWP to a full back might be a good move all round. With some experience he might prove to be outstanding there. But the middle of a season in a relegation battle would be an odd time to start trying it. Not convinced that loaning Cedric out at this stage is a great idea either.
  4. If these deals fall through, we’ll be right back where we started.
  5. Bednarek surely could only make this defence better ?
  6. Hopefully Howe will get poached by some big but hopeless mid table club soon. This should help.
  7. Peach at Luton in 78 would certainly be in my list. Wish there was film of that one.
  8. However long you have been watching England, the lesson must surely be well learned that enjoying the rare good moments is the only way to go. Can't remember when I last actually looked forward to an England game so much as the one coming up. If we lose trying to play decent football, and giving it our all, we can't ask more than that.
  9. Anders Svensson ? ( 2002 v Argentina)
  10. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. We'll go there in good form, probably our best form of the season, and away from home we aren't too shabby. We'd have take tonight's position like a shot at 2.59 last Saturday. Side more or less picks itself, I'd probably start Long, but Charlie is a good alternative.
  11. My first game in 1970 it was 6 Shillings in the Archers, 3 shillings for boys. IIRC a bag of chips was about a shilling at that time.
  12. The bottom 9 have won just five games between them over their last five fixtures, which includes 2 for WBA and obviously ours yesterday.
  13. Yep. And we really have been due a lucky day. Not much seems to have broken for us recently. Fantastic game, and Tadic showed why he’d be in my team ( almost) every week.
  14. If we do go down, and the owner decides he is best off trying to clear the £200m he borrowed, I wonder how close he could get to that, while still leaving the club as a viable entity, ie with a lower end Championship playing budget ? Presumably there is some of the VVD money left. Several recent signings will be hard to make much money on, over and above the outstanding transfer payments, and the balance of player contracts we may have to fulfill if they get worse deals elsewhere. We'd make decent money on a few where there is little outstanding transfer fee : Bertrand, Cedric, Romeu, JWP, Tadic,Yoshida, possibly Stephens and Sims. There are also parachute payments to take into consideration. Any thoughts?
  15. Can't say it bothers me the semi being at Wembley. At least lots of people get a chance to go. I missed out on tickets at Villa Park in 2003 , being a member and on 11 homes instead of the required 12, although I got them for the final. Missing out on that when there were also empty corporate seats, was rather disappointing. And with playoffs JPT etc isn't quite the rarity it once was.
  16. there is also the issue of outstanding transfer fee payments on our expensive signings. Must be very significant in the cases of Lemina and Carillo, for example.
  17. Presumably a number of our first teamers, EG Lemina, Carillo, Hoedt also have big payments to former clubs outstanding on their transfers, which with their expensive and long contracts will mean we won't make much, if any cash out of those sales.
  18. The trick will be trying to keep a few of the better players who might get offers, as Newcastle did with Shelvey. I'd think that keeping PEH and JWP would be key to this. Some like Bertrand and Lemina we have no chance of keeping, ( and will need to shift anyway) and some like Romeu would be replaceable if we get back up quickly. I'd make Pied an offer either way, as I think he could do a good job in the Championship, and offers decent cover in the PL.
  19. That must be the one I was at. Awful performance, freezing cold. I stood by the big vents from the hospitality in the main stand some of the time.couldn't see the game from there. , but it wasnt worth watching .
  20. Forest away, 2-0 defeat, Feb 1985 possibly. We were terrible, I warmed up by the big air vents which were at the end of their biggest stand, and which must have had some hospitality suites. You couldn't see the game from there, but it didnt really matter.
  21. Hughton has the luxury of knowing that he can send his team out to play however he fancies. And even if they go a goal behind, he knows we will surrender the initiative and give them every chance to get back in the game.
  22. Frees up a place in the PL Squad too ?
  23. Great clip of Cyrille in his pomp, as well as a classic Saints goal. Remember both of those like it was yesterday. Terrific game between two fine sides. RIP
  24. Looks like we are freeing up a place in the squad for incoming?
  25. Alan Ball.
