Just a couple of things. 1.brum are getting just over 15000 for some games. 2. all clubs get a drop of 25% on relegation, and further falls are certain if you perform as we have at home for the last 12 months. 3. be interesting to know what our receipts are, rather than the attndance figures. A lot of attendances in the CCC are boosted by cheap ticket offers or lower price STs. people will go to watch winning football, PL football, or cheap football.

Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For Best CBs.

mark wright dave Watson for the Reseve team Killer John Mcgrath -
doubt it. You do learn to read the signs- and with venture capitalists etc involved you know they would sink you as soon as look at you. Crap orders so far today , as well!!

is this the anglo italian cup?

it doesn't help either if the business you work for is run by tossers. The company I work for is going to , quite possibly, have its future decided by one days sales, that day being tomorrow. Doesn't matter that we were over target last month, and might easily be next month. Unbelievable!!

We will miss Surman a LOT if he goes. As i have said before, if we were looking to sign a Saints supporting player of his quality at his current value we would be unable to contain our excitement. He will make a very good (and good value) squad addition for some mid table PL team. Surman/Spiderman/ lallana + 1. THAT is a PL midfield in the making.

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=118818402 I have it on good authority that this lot are awsomely awsome. At The George Andover Thursday. Its metally type stuff.

he really is a poor player. L2 level. Good news that a CCC club want him! anyway, on the least talented thing, Sergei Gotsmanov was quite awful. Remember him looking like a complete donkey against Rochdale at the Dell. How did he ever get thet goal for Russia at wembley?

Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For Best LB.
teamsaint replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
tough one. Bridge probably the most talented , also very consistent, which puts him above mark Dennis, who had immense talent but had his "moments". Anyone remember the job he did on Craig johnson in the League cup semi at the Dell? Peach a real favourite, and gave us 3 great moments (Luton away and The cup semi from the spot and the goal against Forest at wembley.) Some other good ones, but for a best ever Saints team Nick Holmes HAS to be in , and as midfield is going to be very tough competition, he gets my LB slot.be interesting to see how many games he played there, my recollection is that he had a good few seasons. Anyway, Holmes for me. -
Even if the KJ deal was £6m and a free striker being paid £8k a week too much, we still got north of £4.5 m cash(effectively) which would still have been a decent deal IMO.

er, so we in a financial hole, we sell already sell anyone we can for a half decent price, but we shouldn't believe rumours about our best players going?????

Saints Greatest ever XI - Goalkeeper Nominations.
teamsaint replied to Edmonton Saint's topic in Golden Posts
for entertainment there is no one to touch eric Martin, But as a top keeper you can't see past Shilts. ( despite his tendency to punch). pretty handy to have Anti on the bench as well!! -
Quite. The problem is that someone at SFC has forgotten (or never understood) that football is won at the two ends of the park. I really like watching some of our passing stuff, and if it wasn't for the quality we have on the ball we would have no points at all BUT you HAVE to defend properly to have any chance, and any spare money is always best spent on the best strikers available. (proof , look at the Leeds side that got the playoff final in the CCC). Rubbish side but two class strikers.

anyone how far we are from being at the full extent of our overdraft? -
some nice football- but we are always likely to concede, and lack presence up front. 5 in midfield is hiding a bit of weakness there, and leaving DMG without the help he needs. Our home form suggests relegation.8 games gone................ And, as other have said, we will sell our "stars" off for peanuts.

religion sure does cause some problems. But one of the biggest evils? Compared to , say, totalitarianism? Or The arms industry? or Nationalism?
-
remember that one. Not too dissimilar to last Saturday. we were rather lucky to be 3 up, having had 2 pens as I recall , and the game being played in bad conditions I think.
-
all very interesting. However, if really bad times are ahead, and they may well be, I don't think that the expressions of discontent will come in the main from crowds gathered in football stands........its just too expensive, and you are too exposed to easy arrest. The protests will come, if they do, on the streets fuelled by supermarket booze, I suspect. Oh and another point, a lot of people live on credit cards because that is the only way they can afford a "lifestyle",(one pushed hard by the media and government), not because it is cosy. Bu anyway, good post.

well I was very sad to leave the Dell. But the atmosphere, especially in the days before it was all covered and all seater was not always brilliant.....anyone recall the home game against Ipswich with 7000 attending? Also , when even 2/3 full in the days of terraces, the views were terrible.I onlysaw half of the goals scored in countless games. Also, there were in days gone past a lot of very dangerous terraces, certainly places where because of overcrowding etc I was concerned for my safety. There are a LOT of downsides to modern football and stadia-- cost not least among them. But if we had stayed at the Dell tickets would still be £25, and in the current situation, the atmosphere would still have been a bit ordinary. A lot of things are wrong with modern football, but safe modern stadia are not the basic problem.

he's a very alented player who has been played all over the place in a team playing very badly. This has been going on for ALL of his (still brief) career. If he leaves we will regret it one day..
