  1. Think you will find that this particular failure was due to a (probably) lazy and stupid decision to source exclusively from on wholeasaler. Would have thought that there is still a viable business to rescue, as they are unopposed in quite a lot of locations.
  2. Reasons to be cheerful................. 1. It really wouldn't take much money for someone with brains and passion to buy the club. 2.We do have great fans who will pour throught the turnstiles when the team shows a glimmer of skill and pride. 3. A great stadium for the future. 4. there is ALWAYS a way back. Wolves, Citeh, Villa and others have all had times as bad or worse. 5 Hull city. 6. You and I will still be walking through the gates with hope in our hearts at 2.45 on a Saturday long after lowe wilde etc have gone. Unbelievably, even after Saturday, and a rather bad week myself, I am starting to look forward to Reading. No doubt we will get stuffed, but we will be back as long as there is a team in Red and White stripes to support. happy Xmas to all True Saints. UTS.
  3. Lowes position, and everybody else's, is determined by Wilde. 25% swings any decision his way at present. Somebody with a few spare millions, (and it IS only a few) could get wildes shares and start sorting this sorry mess.
  4. just a question; if we go into administration, do the players contracts have to be honoured? Presumably they do, otherwise they would become free agents. My (limited) understanding was that the administrators are only bound to honour debts accrued after a business goes into admin.
  5. I cannot understand what he says. How do the players understand him?
  6. One other point, todays side really wasn't THAT inexperienced. Only James and Lallana have less than half a season's league football behind them.(not sure about Pearce). We simply re nowhere near good enough. My prediction- Unless something drastic happens, the away wins will dry up, and our quite awful home form and results will send us down. Forest were a lot better than us, and they are clearly a mid table team at best. I ALWAYS look forward to the next game (hope springs eternal) but £24 to turn up at the Reading game is a big ask. This love affair we have with SFC is a very one way thing tonight. (PS since I missed the Norwich game, I have got to Xmas without seeing a home win- never thought I would wsee that particular day)!!!!!!!!!! Off now to choose between Bally, Steve Williams and Armstrong for the all time team. Sigh.
  7. I really do think there will be a LONG queue of clubs wanting lallana, and a decent queue for Surman. I really do think rupes can do much better than the low prices some have suggested. These two are really good young English players, and even in Credit crunch Britain those do not come cheap. We have 6 weeks to auction them off, if that is how it must be.
  8. Indeed. However, I suspect that part of the plan is budgeting for life in L1. Rupes has no doubt calculated that its better to survive in L1 than go into admin in the CCC, hence the desire to play a very young (Cheap on wages ) team. Survival this season might be a bonus. The real game, as this thread suggests, is slashing costs. Incidentally, I should think rupes would kill for £500k for SJ.
  9. well, I bet in a match 2.5 Surmans would beat 1 Diarra, so £8m looks a fair figure.
  10. reducing the ticket prices will never work. So some would have us believe.
  11. beast , you make some good points. Surmans corners do seem a bit ordinary or instance. And yes, we could replace them on the cheap and not ruin the team. However, it would IMO be a very great pity to see lallana go, and BWP doesn't have half the ability, even if he is Ok at this level. Cork IMO will never be as good in CMF as Surman, but thats just my opinion. My main concern at present is that the club REALLY cash in on these two, if they have to go. Hopefully your friend Rupes will do his stuff!! These two will cut it in the PL, and it will hurt to se them go.
  12. Perrhaps you might change your mind if you watched the team play. Both Surman and Lallana are young talented English players, both with PL potential at least.Players in this bracket should command high fees. Both have also been performing to a high level. As for Lallana being "disappointing", well i for one would love to see a few more as disappointing as him. that lad will play for England IMO, and will one day be a £10m player. he has exceptional talent. One thing to remember about both is that they have been showing their skills in a struggling side, and both, especially surman, have been moved all over the place. We will miss them both big time.and to see them go on the cheap to SCFC would be tough to take. I sincerlely hope that this post by the beast is not placed by rupert, in a bid to keep our expectations low.hopefully its just a daft post. I personally expect rupes to do his thing and bet big cash for these two.
  13. I will be amazed if several PL clubs don't top a £3m offer for these two. Every chance of a healthy auction IMO, even in these tough times. Clubs like Fulham would be getting great value, even at £5m the pair. personally I think Lallana should be for sale at £5m for the potential he has shown, but we are now a soft touch.
  14. £ 3m really is a joke price. I will be amazed if rupes can't get at least £2m for each. Surman's quality is probably well exposed. He is likely to be a decent PL player . lallana, though, could yet turn out to be a really top player. Hold out for £5m rupes-stoke have the money!!
  15. IF . WE need to improve results , or we will go down.
  16. if we contiue to pick up points at the curent rate, (and its possible we will have a worse squad come Feb 1), we will go down.
  17. Danny looks a good call here. Not good enough for a best ever Saints team, but a true Saint, and a fine player.
  18. I have been away for a few years. is the new poopey ground finished yet?
  19. one thing that really needs doing is opening out onto the parks at the back, ie with new buildings opening out both onto Above Bar and the parks. A citu centre circular tram route would be ace too.
  20. they never campaign against the eco catastrophe that is Christmas..................
  21. Three seem to be way ahead. Golac, Dodd and Mills. For sheer class Mills would get it. For entertainment Golac. But as a true Saints legend it has to be Dodd.

    Lallana

lallana will be a high quality Pl player without a shadow of a doubt.
  23. Good post. I'll just add Luton. And people my age will remember the excellent team they had with the Stein brothers etc.
  24. I'm glad you are being rewarded. I gave up my membership after the playoff games failed to sell out! anyway. I have a half share in a ST so I'll see one half of the match!!!
  25. as I recall neither derby game sold out.
