14/1 is a very sporting price, although they seem likely to stay up. 14/1 poopey to go down doubled with 4/1 chelsea or Liverpool (don't know what they are now, was 9/2 on Saturday) would make a nice double, and with a bit of luck would keep the interest going till near the end of the season.

you are george Burley or jan poortvliet , and I claim my £5.

Any early last minute transfer news?
teamsaint replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
And he has no excuses any more.. he's almost 19 now, played half a season in a top team with the best coaches around. Thanks god our academy doesn't produce lots like him!! -
IMO Lowe has been budgeting for the possibility of L1 footy since his return.
-
yes, I think you are right. I reckon we will somehow generate a little cash over the next few days, and the early bird ST money will (Just about)keep us afloat till the summer. Even then it will be more sales and cost cutting at best, hopefully with the suppoort of the bank.

1 Curiosity Killed the Cat. Also, I would like to know who was Saints first black player. Was it Osher Williams?
-
maybe, but he didn't even pick Lallana for the Donny game.
-
its going to be VERY hard for anyone to get control without Wilde's shares. He will have to be bought out.

in the absence of any real information, its certain that administration is down to whose interests it serves. I suggest Either 1. One of the creditors think they are better off woth the club in administration- seems slightly unlikely during the transfer window, but perhaps thats why a Feb date is being touted around or 2. A "prepack" administration is being lined up. (By Lowe ).these DO happen, and DO work. Don't know if its feasible in the case of the Super Saints though. Anyone know if it could be done?

Surman will prove to be a class player in the PL one day. We will miss him big style if he goes.
-
however crap the manager, however poor the support, however daft the tactics, however awful the chairman, however inexperienced the player, ALL the players are paid to give 100 % in matches. Sneiderlin really didn't look like he was doing that yesterday. If so, its inexcuseable.
-
Just awful. Frustration everywhere. We are divided and sinking under Lowe. Just as an aside really, I spent about 20 mins watching sneiderlin today. He was completely bypassed for the whole time I spent watching him. Perhaps he had some role not apparent to an amateur like me- but to me he really didn't look all that bothered. I felt Surman was really having to do the job of two men. I really wish that there was something to unite the fanbase. But I don't think there is. And I have a horrible feeling that L1 might be a struggle. Spose I'll still turn up though.

stalbridge is even odder than Sturminster Newton. Other odd places. Wilton redditch Cross Hands (The Village) Sittingbourne Sunbury

Someone did a statistical survey some years ago which suggested that closely matched teams had to play each other 9 times in order to give a statistically significant indication of the better team. this is because football is a very low scoring game, so the odd piece of luck can go a long way in deciding a game, but over 38 or 46 games, the best teams are at the top.
-
Not too much end product, and his finishing is not top class, but a decent centreforward to aim at would help him. A fit Holmes will be a plus as far as I am concerned.Plenty to come from him I think.(Or hope!)

So if a PL club offer £4m for Surman or Lallana or Spiderman we will turn them down. F'sure!!

August 2009 - The aftermath of relegation and administration
teamsaint replied to Mole's topic in The Saints
I'm also pretty sure that Lowe said somewhere that the bond holders (norwich Union) were supporting the club, implying that some sort of payment holiday/deferred payment plan has been drawn up.Anyone else spot this? haven't seen it discussed elsewhere. It has to be said that even in the unsentimental world of banking it makes little sense for Norwich union or Barclays to take action to take us into the disaster of administration. -
Saints Greatest XI - Nominations For Best Right Forward/Striker
teamsaint replied to St Landrew's topic in Golden Posts
Channon. Is my nomination. I would like to dd that Rod Wallace was possibly the most consistent finisher I have seen. But it will be Big Ron and Channon up front surely? -
the plymouth game was 11.30. First train from salisbury got in about 11 am. The same year as the plymouth game we won 3 2 at Rovers on the saturday, and 3 2 home to cardiff on the monday. I was at all 3. happy days.
-
I stongly suspect that Lowe has been budgeting for L1 footy since he came back. He also knows that administration would be a disaster, and that he could very easily lose control. At present I expect to see us in L1 but breaking even (or close to it) next season.
-
your youth set up may well be great, but it won't keep you in the PL........... THAT requires CASH.
-
Just looking at our squads and team sheets makes for depressing reading I'm afraid. That said, we do have a "best 11 that would be at least competitive. Its KD Cork perry Pearce Skacel Spider Surman Gillett lallana Robbo/Mcg/Bwp Holmes I'm not BWPs biggest fan, but on form he's worth having around.
