  1. sometimes in football even good teams can't beat bad teams. Thats what makes it fun. If you are good enough over a season you will get your rewards- for every last minute winner there is a dodgy penalty decision. We were in a close to impossible position 10 games in.Would have been nice to take it into the last game- which mathematically we still could. Just really hope next season is our last in L1.
  2. Two I would like to see. Andy Barcham from the gills. Drew Surman. Really think a quality RB is a must.
  3. So corp, serious question, since i missed it in all the fun, you say that Chanrai didn't lend the £17m.So please do explain what did happen, and how he got control. Oh and if you want to know why us Saints want a real big punishment for your lot, I suggest its very simple. We went bust for a few million and a stadium repayment we couldn't meet. You are going bust for £100m and after some really pretty dodgy financial stuff. Yet at this stage your penalty may come out exactly the same. Plus you are our rivals !! Anyway, the Chanrai thing. please...............because I'm genuinely interested.
  4. funny thing is they STILL worry about us. All sitting round hoping that Huddersfield can beat Walsall. Pretty sad. They know we will be back, and it won't be long.Us missing out on the playoffs , if we do, is just delaying the inevitable return of Saints superiority................
  5. Would be interested to know how the poopey squad looks in terms of next season. Who is out of contract, who is unsellable due to being overpaid etc. There must be some skates out there who go to games who might know.........
  6. spuds. One thing that rupes DID get right.
  7. without the -10 we would still have a chance of automatic promotion...................................cheers rupes.
  8. would have settled for that set of results. Just wish the season went on another 10 games.
  9. So: would I be wrong to think that £30 m is the answer that the android started with. This he thinks is both a "realistic " price, and would pay off the debts at 30 p in the £, and also be just right to get a CVA without HMRC voting for it. Problems remaining are to pay off footy debts, ( parachute payments take care of that), and finding someone with £30m. That about right?
  10. one thing that the whole sorry saga needs is for fans of clubs other than SAints to start pointing the finger. It is THEY , supporters of what in football pass for honest clubs, who have missed out on the days at Wembley, having lost out to the cheating skates along the way. Oh and lots of clubs have supporter groups every bit as " great" as poopey.
  11. is tonight the first time that we would have been in the top 6 if we hadn't had the -10?
  12. At the beginning of the season we had a poor squad. The early results reflected this. After just a few weeks work, (and being given some money), AP has turned us into a team which is averaging just shy of 2 points a game, which over a season would be good enough to get us promoted. AP may have go a few things wrong, but then who doesn't. His choice of signings looks pretty good from where I sit. What would really worry me is AP leaving at this stage. Stability is something badly needed at SMS.
  13. its really so simple. AP has the resources that he has. We have no control over who is in L next year. Promotion next year will be down to us. If we are good enough, and get 2 points per game, we will go up. And really, unless something dramatic happens, we have an excellent chance, as we have shown over the last 25 league games.
  14. its entirely possible that we will, after a terrible start to the season with a poor squad, finish within 10 points of automatic promotion. Not everything is perfect, but then football would be pretty dull if everything was predictable.
  15. Maybe AA is finally doing what he is supposed to, and running the club as cheaply as possible, whilst maximising income. Stranger things have happened. EG Completely skint clubs with a transfer embargo paying 500k for a loan signing.
  16. Oh dear. Look its pretty simple. The way tix were allocated DID mean that some people who didn't really deserve tickets got them, and that some much better deserving cases didn't. Membership needs reintroduced next season. People might well have thought that buying an MK dons ticket even though they couldn't get to the game was an unnecessary precaution with the final being in a 90000 seater. But the reckoned without the fantastic Wembley authorities.
  17. couldn't agree more. Dreams of children is one of the best of their many wonderful moments. Odd really that of couple of their biggest hits were rather ordinary. Always thought Eton Rifles wasn't great, but that, for instance "Thick as Thieves" was a far better track. Not important really though, to have bands that t good and also that popular is a rare thing. ASs for a best Jam track, rather obvious, but "down in the Tube station" has to have it.
  18. Can't think of a better one than this.
  19. Can't really comment on NC, other than to pick up on a couple of points . Firstly in the interview, when asked about staff car parking spaces, he did come over as rather too tough.small point though. also, can't really see how the all too obvious public pressure on AP is helpful. IF NC is not aware of the desperate need for stability at SMS, then he needs to be made aware of it.However, AP can no doubt look after himself. I wonder though, how fans might react if , for instance,ST or matchday prices take some sudden hikes. Not trying to say anything against him, just wondering how we will react if/when things go against us, as a club, or as fans.
  20. aroun 200 hartlepool fans is a decent effort give their size, population etc.
  21. Its not impossible that , even though we miss the playoffs, we could get within 10 points of second place. THAT would be a huge boost for next season
  22. THink they would be very lucky indeed to raise that sort of sum from sales. As we found there are better cheaper alternatives once you have given a player a PL level contract. Some of them will be unsellable. Maybe somebody will take a punt that the likes of Tommy Smith can get them out of the CCC first time, and back to the big money. But as we found that is a BIG gamble. I would buy Palace if I had that sort of money, or put together a consortium to invest in the barcodes. I personally think that even the most enthusiastic asset stripper is going to struggle on this one.
  23. on a Saints related note, I wonder if Cortese started to get jumpy about the parachute payments a while back, which might explain his impatience with this seasons results. The top end of the CCC being full of the likes of WBA awash with even more megabucks parachute money is going to be no help at all to our 5 year plan. And as for the skates worrying about a new stadium- thats a whole new level of self delusion.
  24. absolutely. All teams lose some games. Trouble is that recently we have had far too many substandard results. A draw at Exeter isn't the end of the world, but if you want promotion you can't have a a result like that along with moderate results at Wycombe, Brentford, Tranmere etc etc.Even the odd home defeat will happen. That said, the line between success and failure can be very fine.Take away the equaliser at Millwall, and let in out two woodwork efforts last night, and we would still be looking hopefully at the tables. Not time to panic- but the presesaon starts here.
  25. well, its a glass half empty night. Last 14 games,(since Leeds away) 22 points. Maybe the pressure of having to win every game is telling. Maybe bits of the Jigsaw are still missing. It does seem to me that at present we struggle to pick up the extra points when we are not at our best.To get promotion you HAVE to win on some of those off days, and its not something we can do yet.
