Wonder what happened to TAV. First stop for student jobs back in the early 80's. Regular ones were Mr Kipling, (mind blowingly boring), THe Smiths factory at Portchester, The Egg processing place at Chandlers Ford, some distribution depot near the docks. All great fun !!

two Eyes in Shirley. Well, you used to get a good feed there 20 years ago. !! Pepper joes was brilliant in its day.
-
quite. If its a routine hernia, he could have been playing again in a few weeks... We really don't have time to waste now.
-
perhaps they are better than Hammond. Bally was a "midget".........
-
THe club, (AP/ NC /whoever) badly messed up the summer. They didn't replace Antonio. THey didn't replace Waigo. THey knew Lallana was carrying a bad knee. They knew we only had 3 strikers, one of whom is an injury waiting to happen. We went into this season seriously short of class and firepower and it is showing.
-
we are missing antonio, Waigo, Lallana, and Barny. THAT is a lot of fire power missing. Easy.
-
I suppose the kind of worthless scum that at least choose not to "support" manure, Arse, chiwsea, whoever. I pst ythis with apologies, of course to wimpleton fans.
-
Maybe, but Barnard would be hard to replace with the £250k that he cost us............if only he didn't get sent off at critical times !!
-
easy. We failed to replace two important attacking players. We went into the season with two strikers plus one(DC ) who never looks 100 %, and has an awful injury record. Two injuries and a stupid sending off, and we can't buy a goal. Our defence will be OK. WE sacked a manager at a terrible time (unless it was to stop our best players leaving during the window). All pretty predictable I'm afraid. However, a good strong manager, and a couple of decent loans and things might well look up. Luckily no one is setting the league on fire, so we may just get lucky. Need to turn it round fast though.

oh, and as for price, for most of my time , and before all seater stadia, the price of standing was usually comparable with a cinema ticket, very roughly. All seater grounds made the game much more expensive, although I guess ticket prices at SMS now are probably roughly comparable with seats at the Dell .
-
THe Dell was fantastic on a good day..............but it could be a bit quiet on a bad day.The lack of a big covered end terrace didn't help when the place wasn't rocking. As for terraces in general... good for atmosphere, absolutely terrible for watching a game, especially for us shorties !! Seen two thirds of more games than I care to remember at the Dell.... most notably the 4-o win over Leicester when I couldn't see the Archers goal at all....the one we scored all 4 in during the first half. Don't really agree about SMS. LIke any stadium, great on a good day, quiet on a bad one...its the fans that make the atmosphere, not the buidings. Some things I would like back in the game... Proper reserve team footy. Number boards for the half times. One sub. teams running out on seperately , so you can boo the opposition properly.

if they are really taking on players on £20 k pW, either 1. Chanrai has deep pockets and is digging into them or 2. THey will soon end up in admin again. THr income of a Champ team with 15000 gates is approx £12 m PA

Lawrie Mac came from a Lincolnshire team....seems like a good precedent to me. hope that Adkins turns out good... tHink there is every chance he will. Look at some of our " big name " managers Redknapp Burley. A big name iss hardly a guarantee of success....
-
Adkins around 1/2 ATM lots of movement, although I guess this means about 5 lots of £20 have changed hands !! Kenna is the mover today, clearly.
-
adkins still odds on on the only market I can find. Christian Gross is the mover , in to 14/1. As for promotion, we are no better than evens anywhere, so at least some bookies have faith in us,even if the fans don't !! Mind you, don't suppose many bookies were at SMS yesterday !!

that is a very annoying thread title................ when you can only see the first 3 words. since I am here 3.00 monday. any monday.

What a complete shambles. And I don't mean just the performance against Rochdale. Whoever was making decisions over the last 3 months has made some bad ones. This club is desperate to get out of L1, and to maximise the chances of that happening we needed to go into August with a fit squad with quality cover....we can presumably afford it. To be fair, we strengthened the defence................but............. the loss of Antonio and Waigo has not been addressed at all really. With e the sqaud we had last season we JUST did promotion form over about 30 games... predictably, having lost two matchwinners we find ourselvews light. Whats more, we went into the season a striker light. We have 3, of whom one, DC, seldom looks 100%,and in any case has a horrendous history of injuries. Thye Ox looks a cracking prospect, but really a club in our position really shouldn't be having to use him other than JPT or as a late sub. Also, we clearly lack quality cover in CM, although Guly may come good. To be fair to AP, he concede that we were short of cover, saying that we were waiting for quality loans.... well we waited, and its cost us at least 6 vital points. As for today, I presume that DC was not 100 %.......and if he wasn't, and RL clearly isn't, why on earth did we not play with one up front, and 5 in MF....at least we would have had 10 fit players. Oh, and PLEASE SAints, get David Armstrong in to training, to show the players that the first requirement to score a goal is that the shot has to be on target. puncheon needs to learn this lesson, though again he did at least look bothered, unlike most of them.
-
the home game that we won 1-0, they played us off the park. We won it with a good move by Surman finished off by Rasiak. Scunny played really well, bu they couldn't finish, mostly, if memory serves, because their two best strikers had beem sold.
-
as far as i can see, EVERY managerial appointment is a gamble...........and we should know, look how many we have had. Just have to trust NC, and hope that he can get a good man. As for all this "Howe hates Saints" stuff, if he doesn't want this job, then he is not the man for us. and if he has anything about him, unless NC really is the nutjob some have suggested, then he would be an idiot to turn us down, if offered a job.
-
sorry, I just don't buy the " lallana is only here because of Pardew " line. It may well be that AP persuaded him to sign, (although I can't recall if he signed his new contact before AP joined, ) but really, who is to say that he won't get on like a house on fire with the new boss. If a deal comes along that suits Adam (and maybe his advisors) he will go. If not , he won't. And with his contact starting to run down , financially he will be able to get a better deal elsewhere next summer,(1 years left at that point?) should he want to go.

Anyone hear that skate idiot dillon on solent this morning? Why on earth did solent give him the airtime, and WTF has it got do do with him anyway?
-
sorry if posted elsewhere, but SKYbet have Eddie Howe at 2/1 now, which has come in a lot I think. FWIW obviously.
-
well the £13m budget is also fantasy football. The parachute payments are pretty much spoken for, (as I understand it), and income for a champ side at you kind of gates is unlikely to be much over £12 m in total. Bristol city had a TOTAL income of around £12m in their last financial year..... Quite how AA came up with the £13m figure and made it all add up is a mystery to me.
-
No reports in at all from Macdonalds in Shirley, as far as I can see. Poor effort chaps.
-
sacking managers with still under contracts is a poor way of saving money !!!!!!!!!!
