  1. I would assume that in cases where we want the player to stay, EG Che, we would either waive the reduction, or compromise on a smaller reduction ?
  2. So what was it ? Three points from 11 games , when staring relegation in the face ? Beyond all the nonsense of this season, that has to be one of the worst efforts to avoid the drop of all time, given that in terms of league position for a long time we had fair chance of avoiding the drop if we had achieved even mediocre results.
  3. The Cure live at the Gaumont in 1982. Anybody else there that night ?
  4. We should revisit the 1976 onwards kit , or something similar. Loved that shirt.
  5. Somehow, in 10 weeks, some manager or other is supposed to assemble a side and squad that can at least have a crack at the top 6. So starting with a few players with long standing PL credentials , even if mediocre ones, such as JB and Stephens is probably not the worst idea, given the extensive rebuild needed in so many other areas.
  6. Not even a whimper.
  7. His natural game is attacking. That is where his best attributes lie. On the right of a 3 in a 4-2-3-1 in a decent side he would be superb. We are really going to miss seeing players of his quality next season, not to mention his commitment.
  8. Just like 1974 , as it goes. if the next 4 years are similar to the ones that followed the 1974 relegation, I’d be happy enough !!
  9. The 2-1 win in 1978 was a pretty decent day, TBF !!
  10. We do concede a lot of goals from headers.
  11. Still not sure how Bednarek will make us a worse team. in fact , pleased to see him back.
  12. Or Jason Yewell…..
  13. I thought his performance against Forest was very decent , given the shambles going on around him.
  14. Same round too.
  15. What a great post. A terrific read. those of us who were around in the 80’s will remember what a good side Luton had for a while, always seemed to give us a torrid time, and not just because of that pitch of theirs.
  16. We seemed to be playing old fashioned 3-2-5 a lot of the time esp in the first half, with Aribo playing deep in a front 5 !! It wasn’t a very good idea , and Aribo seemed lost in his role, though he wan’t the only one.
  17. The difference that Stuart Armstrong makes is immense. He actually has high level awareness and touch. he is a defensive liability at times, but that surely has to be managed.
  18. Why on earth would they be resigned to relegation ? Things don’t look that great, but we have the basis of a reasonable side, we aren’t in a disastrous points position, and the striker situation can surely be improved in Jan, one way or another.
  19. Selling your best ball winning and defensive midfielder isn’t usually a good move.
  20. Very sad news. A brilliant player, who would have had a lot of England caps in any other era, but was so unlucky( as was Steve Williams) to have Robson, Wilkins and Hoddle around at the same time. If youngsters want to learn how to score goals from midfield, a few videos of Dave will do the job. RIP

    Che Adams

May be that he is on quite a modest contract as well ? Which begs the question , if that is the case, why we don’t offer him a better one. He has proved himself at lower half PL level, and will always be saleable .
  22. Just had a look at oddschecker and we are generally 6 th favourite to go down, which surprises me. The bookies are more confident in us than I am at this stage ! Best long shot for the drop looks to be BHA at 8 or 9/1, Surprised to see Wolves at 4 and 5/1 in some places.
  23. Well the people who were there , and it was definitely sold out , certainly went to enjoy themselves. A cracking atmosphere , from a long time before kick off. Thought England over did the long ball out to the left in the first half, but once they got in front NI were always going to do well to keep it respectable.
